Michael Howell and Terra Luma have done an amazing series of jobs for us over the years and continue to help maintain and update our outdoor living spaces and yards. Michael is a great guy whose talent encompasses all aspects of the project, including recommending and managing any other required tradespeople and coordinating the timing of deliveries and installation to efficiently complete the job. All the while, his happy yet professional demeanor ensures the atmosphere is always lighthearted while being very efficient. Over the years, Michael has transformed my Father's multi-acre vacation home in the gulf islands into an absolute oasis. He was able to breathe life into each sitting area in a way that made them each a unique place unto their own. Additionally, our home in North Vancouver required a complete overhaul of our backyard. In doing so, Michael created an completely different feel that brought the yard and home together harmoniously. Finally, he took my Father's Vancouver apartment patio from a drab and lifeless BBQ spot to a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming sitting area. Three very different projects that span a significant part of the landscaping spectrum, yet Michael seemed at home with each of them. We wholeheartedly recommend Michael and Terra Luma for any project that you may be considering. read more

Michael Howell of Terra Luma is amazing! I am not just saying that because he's a really cool guy, but because I really enjoyed working with him. He transformed my Yaletown patio from drab to fabulous, and was able to bring the fruition the exact look I had imagined in my mind. The entire process was professional and happened very quickly. He submitted photos and ideas via email and directed me to the right design choices, but ultimately let me make the decisions. It was great collaborating with him on the patio with his iPad and looking at pics and layouts. He's a hands on guy and did everything from negotiating with suppliers, getting swatches for my perusal, trucking up soil, potting plants, and laying down the lighting system. He even through in extra bonus items and gifts, and to this date answers questions immediately when I need additional support. And you won't believe his pricing model- ask him! Feel free to contact me personally if you need any more information regarding Terra Luma design. I am very confident you will not be disappointed and you will receive fantastic value for money. My puppy Shao LOVES her new Zen inspired balcony space. read more

Michael and Dennis transformed our yard from a bare and piece meal lot to a "place" that we are proud to call home. Right from the initial visioning and planning meeting, it was an enjoyable experience. Michael was very good at hearing our desires and concerns and transforming them into the yard we wanted. We have worked with other landscape design companies through our business, and I must say, Terra Luma is the best. Michael and Dennis created a design that worked with our lifestyle, the character of our house, its context and what we already had. They were always avalialbe by phone or email, and my husband and I were amazed how fast the design and planting came together. I enjoyed very much coming home everyday to see what new addition had been planted. As part of their work, Michael created a maintenance schedule that he walked through with us and our gardener. Nothing is left undone with this company. When we build again, we will definitely use Terrra Luma Design. read more

When I first Michael from Terra Luma, I was completely put at ease by his style and approach to working on our project. Not knowing exactly what I wanted to do to our property, Michael listened carefully to the vision I had in mind and then stepped through a series of questions to help clarify my goals. Over the course of the next few weeks, he put together the plan and presented it a couple of times with revisions and updates. When I finally implemented the plan for the front yard, I was astounded by how he helped transform 40 years of overgrown bush, weeds and ground cover. He worked hard to preserve my budget. He was always on time and with a smile. Michael is a person that I would recommend without hesitation and look forward to completing the final stages of our project next year. read more

Our Strata Corporation hired Terra Luma to update our front entry courtyard. As president of the Council and being on the landscape committee I worked directly with Michael Howell. Michael immediately knew what we were hoping for, understood the constraints and limitations of the space, and had many good options for completing the project. Most importantly, Michael was very aware of the structure of the Strata Corporation and its decision making process as well as the budget issues and constraints. We definitely achieved more than we expected within our budget with his professional guidance. I would highly recommend Terra Luma for any landscape design project. read more

We hired Terra Luma to improve the look and feel of our entranceway and quite frankly, Michael blew us out of the water. From the initial consultation, Michael had a very down to earth approach and understood what we could do with the budget we had. He explained the differences of what we "thought" we wanted and what would really survive in Vancouver for the winter season. He explained the costs and the maintenance of the plants - and promised to return in the Spring to help with our backyard. Our neighbours noticed what he did and we are very happy to refer him to them. read more
