Last week, I took my grandpup to Petco for grooming and was told (after they started) his tail was too matted and they couldn't continue. They suggested I find a "mom & pop" groomer who would have the appropriate tools. On the way home I saw Eco-Pet and made an appointment. I'm so glad I did. I was extreme hurt and angered by the owners of Eco-pet. I brought in my Maltese mainly because he has really been suffering in the heat because of his long hair so I wanted a Puppy cut. First, one owner dismissed this fact saying arrogantly, "Oh he's not hot." He wasn't joking around. I guess he decided that he knew my dog better than it's master of 11 years because they left his coat at 2 and 1/2 inches long! When I got him home I noticed how horrible the cut was: they had cut a ridiculously huge oval around his bum, left the bottom of his face uncut so hairs still was poking up in his eyes, and his chin hairs were still hard and dirty, and they had cut uneven bangs at the top of his head 1 and a half inches short. It looked like I had cut my dog's hair! Then they told me that it would be $95 and if I would have had his teeth cleaned it would have been $110. I asked about the teeth because my neighbor had brought in her Yorkie the day before and also had his teeth cleaned and it was $75. The most unbelievable thing to me is that they had no compassion for my dog who will suffer in this summer heat, until I pay for another haircut. read more

My parents dog Pepper is a regular client and has been coming here for a long time. My mom passed away almost 2 years ago. So now my dad takes Pepper in to be groomed. Terry does an amazing job running this place. Pepper always gets a shampoo, hair cut and gets her nails clipped. They're very professional!! They have a lot of experience in dog grooming. I've been going to Eco Pet since I first moved to Los Angeles. Terry first welcomed me to the neighborhood and provide a great first bath for St. Paul. She and the rest of her staff are very friendly. They're very accommodating since I usually call the day of lol. I don't know what they use on St. Paul but he always smells great for days. He's rolled in squirrel poop, trash, and a seal carcass and each time he comes back looking great. Definitely give this place a visit. My furbaby looks absolutely gorgeous after leaving EcoPet. Malika was very professional and took the time to listen to me when I was describing how I wanted my dog to be groomed. She was done grooming my dog within 3 hours and promptly confirmed that I could pick up my dog when I called to check-in. My dog was well taken care of and did not sustain any injuries as she has in the past at other salons. I am very pleased with the service here. Anyone who left a 1 or 2 star review likely had unrealistic expectations. For example, getting your dog groomed isn't going to permanently rid of fleas if you have an infestation at your place of dwelling and bringing your dog to a groomer isn't going to magically make your dog tolerate getting his nails trimmed if he isn't properly trained to be handled and groomed starting when they are 8-10 weeks old. I visited eco-pet for my dog's anal gland and after I came back to home I realized a bump on his anal area (the groomer didn't tell me anything or warned me). I immediately visited my vet and he said that this happened because there were an abscess and the groomer probably squized too much. I end up with 400$ vet bill and my dog got a surgery (they put drain). It was such a misery for my dog. There were an abscess and she didn't care and squezed it and made it worst. The worst part is she didn't warn me. My dog could only got away with antibiotics if she told me and not squeeze but because of people who don't know how to do their job, he got surgery!! read more

They were great with Teddy. They are very gentle with their dogs. I use to take my other dog there a while back before she passed and this is the only place I will take my new dog Teddy. They groomed him perfect for it being his first grooming. I have always been surprised when I picked my dogs up after being groomed. They also referred me to a great vet. They are very friendly. They feed the dogs and walk them also. The only thing is that I had to take him back two weeks later because I wanted him cut low and he wasn't as low as I wanted him. I paid a different price both times and the same job was completed with like a 10 dollar increase. It's only the second time so I'm contemplating. My main thing is being questioned why I wanted him cut down low. I felt like I was asking them to do something that was wrong or something. I wanted him cut low and had to settle for what they thought he should get. He needs grooming again and it's only been two weeks again. But, they are very nice there and I didn't see anything but happy dogs. My dog get so hot I don't want a lot of hair on him and should just be able to request it and it's done. They use to cut my other dog low with no problem so I don't understand it. That would be the only reason I don't go back. I won't sit in a pet groomer and ever have a long conversation about what I want for my dog. He's like my son. read more

Well, I've found my new groomer! It was such a pleasure interacting with everyone at Eco-Pet, especially Terry, and my dog Stella has quite a spring in her step after her new hair cut. I'm quite picky when it comes to my seven year old pup's cut, and frankly, it's one of the best I've seen on her. There's even a little poodle puff at the end of her tail. Beyond adorable. It's clear that everyone is very kind and gentle with the dogs, and that Terry is a true animal lover. They were in control of Stella every step of the way (even when she tried to alligator roll in order to stay with me when I first dropped her off!) and it's very clear this establishment is professional through and through, all the while still maintaining neighborhood charm. They followed every instruction down to the T, and speaking to Terry on the phone was a total delight. I'm very specific about my dog's cut, (long ears, close body, specific tail, hypo shampoo, yada yada) so this was a good litmus test - they definitely listen to your wish list. Bonus points for their waiting area - it's too funny seeing Stella behind the glass when I pick her up. It's a great way of immediately seeing your dog's cut, and gave me a good laugh seeing her goofy little face staring out. All in all, 10/10 for the cut, and 10/10 for the staff. I'm so happy to have found such an excellent groomer so close to me, and will be returning without hesitation. read more

Eco-Pet opens at 10 am during the week. I was able to call and schedule an appointment the same day. Eco-Pet has friendly, family-orientated staff. They made sure COCO was in safe hands and provided her with walks to take care of "business." Unsure on who actually groomed my dog, they did an overall okay job. I feel that I was overcharged for a basic wash, cut and style (bows). ($74 including tip) Where normally, in Gardena, CA I'll spend $55 for a basic grooming service. I would recommend this groomer to individuals who are in a hurry, like family businesses and are health conscious about their animals diet etc. read more

The lady who helped us talked to Fire to help calm her down, let Fire take her time getting adjusted to the surroundings and was very patient with Fire. This made me feel comfortable leaving Fire there to get groomed. I also appreciated the fact that Eco Pet takes pit bulls...some places won't accept "power breeds". I used to take my dog here years ago for grooming. They use all natural products on your pet, which makes sense. Why would you put dangerous chemicals on your dog if you won't put them on yourself? My boyfriend used them recently and he said nothing's changed since I was here, Terry even remembered my dog. It's a lovely little Mom & Pop shop that carries the best wholesome pet products you can find. Since most chains like PetCo and PetSmart are conducting themselves horribly (killing and abusing their animals -- and selling them, which is wrong to begin with...) why not spend money at an ethical store like this? Again, it just makes sense. BTW, the store is in Westchester, not Crenshaw as Yelp has it listed. Her fur is very soft she smells pretty and they trim her nails. It was really easy to schedule an appointment. I will definitely bringing my dog back for her monthly groomings. Im so very disappointed. Even after reading the reviews, I'm still shaking my head trying to figure out what went terribly wrong! Called this place yesterday, walk-in nail clipping for my ten year old female chihuahua. When we arrived, I explained my chihuahua was ten years old, we previously had a bad experience @ Doolittles Dog groomers in El Segundo where the groomer picked up my senior dog by the scruff! I explained they may want to muzzle her. NOPE! They said they would have no problem with her. The man took my dog and off he went into the back. Im so grateful that they had a window so I could see what he was doing! OH MY GOD! This man TRIED to lay my dog on its side, when she started to struggle, HE COVERED HER FACE WITH A TOWEL AND LAID HIS ARMS ACROSS HER WITH HIS BODY WEIGHT SO SHE COULD NOT MOVE! WHO DOES THIS??? He then proceeded to quickly cut her nails! I could see my dog was distressed with the towel being held over her face but when she started to DEFECATE BECAUSE SHE WAS TERRIFIED I yelled PLEASE STOP! PLEASE GIVE ME BACK MY DOG! SHE'S SO TERRIFIED SHE'S DEFECATING! The lady at the counter ran quickly to the back room trying to cover up the dog feces. She's never done that in the 10 years Ive taken her for her nails! The man came out handing me back my dog arguing that 'ITS YOU THAT MAKES HER NERVOUS!" I said to him I WASN'T EVEN BACK THERE! That's terrible what you did, you DONT cover and hold a towel over a dog's face and put your body weight on her! SHE WAS SO TERRIFIED SHE CRAPPED EVERYWHERE! So confused to see the five star remarks reviews here. Just wondering, do you STAY when your dog is groomed or just drop them off? Have you SEEN how they trim your dogs nails?
