Not helpful, I will not try to dive with this company again. I suggest trying to work with any other company. They have no shop at the docs none of their staff will assist with equipment, if you are from out of town find a shop that's flexible and able to assist if you are traveling without the gear needed. read more

Erin was AMAZING. Me, my boyfriend, and my friend came for our SDI certification and she was so knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and approachable. If anyone is considering , I highly recommend ECO and Erin. However I would like to include that "all rentals included" is a bit misleading as you have to purchase your own mask, snorkel, and fins. I just got into the scuba diving life and found Eco Dive Center as a reputable and cost-effective option to get my certification. It's an LA dive shop, filled from wall to wall (and up to the ceilings) with a wide selection of all things dive equipment. Their friendly staff are there to answer any questions, help you set-up for dives and certifications, and provide all of the gear you need to buy (snorkel, mask, and fins) and your rental gear (scuba suit, and oxygen tanks). Once you're registered for classes, you'll be sent instructions and given a very capable instructor that will ensure you're prepared to become qualified (and not drown). On the flip side, if you're not ready (your fitness capability or inability to successfully pass written or physical testing) - they'll make sure to fail you.. not to crush your ego, but to ensure you don't drown. I joined a group diving trip to Grand Cayman with Eco Dive recently. Our group was a nice mix of 3 instructors from Eco Dive and 9 divers (experienced and new). A week after returning from Ambergris Caye, Belize in June '24, with my partial Open Water certification, I walked into Eco Dive Center and struck gold! My Belizean instructor, Felicito, recommended I get my scuba kit before returning in September for my final open water dives, and The Great Blue Hole. Thanks to Jason and Jake, PADI Instructors, I walked out a few hours later that Sunday with the best recreational equipment on the market. OMS Smartstream BCD, SCUBAPRO MK25 Evo Regulator and SuuntoD5 Computer with Tank Pod for starters. I was in and out of the shop over the coming weeks, picking up items that'd arrived, and ordering more bits and bobs. I quickly got to know the rest of the team including Sofia, Allyse and Will, all Divemaster's. The service just got better and better by the minute. Will was checking delivery on my SCUBAPRO Steamer 1mm suit only to find it ending up on backorder. He mentioned SCUBAPRO was releasing a military issue camo suit to the public and said he'd check. Several days later he called letting know he scored it for me, even in a 4XL. Big time booyah! I just returned from Jake fitting my BCD, and finalizing my regulator setup including pairing my computer to the pod. I had the good fortunate of finally meeting Ron, the owner as well. Bravo Ron! There's not a more knowledgeable, friendly and inclusive team of dive professionals in SoCal. You'd be a fool to trust your scuba needs to anyone else. I won't. Also, if you take a class with them, you will always get a student discount which is great. The customer service is awesome, everyone working is very knowledgeable and willing to help with your needs. If you have a question with diving or with any of the gear you need I would definitely recommend stopping here. Decided to make a trip back to Eco Dive Center after nearly a five years diving hiatus (life gets in the way sometimes). I had originally purchased all my gear from Eco Dive Center during my time at UCLA, where Jake had set me up with all the essentials for being an AAUS Scientific Diver. I recently lost all my gear in a fire, and was a bit discouraged having to buy everything over again. I returned today to be greeted by Jake (yet again) and also had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jason and Ron. I explained my situation, and they proceeded to take excellent care of me. During the three hours I spent here today, the staff walked me through every single BC, regulator, dive computer, and accessory they had in inventory. They even showed me several items that they did not have in stock, but were more than happy to special order for me. These guys do not beat-around-the-bush, they are extremely honest and give their expert opinion on every single item they have in stock. They do not sell gear that they would not use or recommend personally. Yes, admittedly SCUBA gear is expensive, but after all, so is anything good in life. I'm sure you could always buy some junk off the internet that will wear out after a few dives, but why waste your time trying to pinch pennies? Come support your local dive shop and get outfitted with what you really need. (FYI - The sign on the front door informs all customers that they will also beat any online advertised price from their competitors). The staff DO NOT try to up-sell you or give you anything you do not truly need. They have both new and used items for every budget from beginner to dive master. Did I mention this place is a full-service dive shop? They have EVERYTHING a recreational or working diver could ever want, need, or dream of. I walked out with everything I needed to get back in the water. It feels great knowing I got all my gear for a great deal, and I really appreciate the high level of customer service I received today. Incredible is an understatement to describe my experience with Eco dive center. I registered for an open water scuba certification (they offer many courses and trainings for various scuba endeavors). From the moment I walked in the door at the shop to learning skills in the ocean, the process was informative, safe and so much fun. My instructor, Maddie, stands out specifically due to her mastery of scuba technical proficiency, and her ability to empathize with all of the students. I decided at the last minute to try to get my PADI Open Water Diver Certification for a recent trip to Cabo and after doing some research on various shops, decided to try here. With less than 1 week to go I was a bit nervous if there was enough time to do this properly. My diving instructor Julia was amazing. Immediately after signing up and prior to my pool date, she reached out via text to introduce herself and also to assign homework and give me tips. She told me to reach out anytime with questions and was very responsive and proactive. During the pool class, Julia was very focused on proper skills and safety and worked with each of us repeatedly for as long as it took, until we could perform each skill properly and easily. Even after I completed my course with Eco Dive Center, my instructor continued to help me, even via text after I went to Cabo to complete the remaining 4 dives. I was pleasantly surprised to realize how well the skills that were taught to me were ingrained in such a short period of time. My dive master (from the largest dive shop) in Cabo even asked me where I had done my pool training and asked me to compliment Julia my instructor saying that I had a better grasp of skills than most of the people who normally certify with them. I'll definitely try diving with Eco Dive Center this summer in Catalina and will also try to finish my advanced open water certification with them too. read more

Very friendly staff that are willing and helpful with questions through the process of booking and taking a course. I was unable to complete my dives on first attempt (COVID couple of weeks before course) and they were super helpful and flexible in getting the course completed at a later date a few months later. While completing the course on second attempt, instructor was Stephane, who was just amazing. Friendly, easy going and the course was in no way stressful. The dives were interesting and fun, while getting the skills we needed to done. We had weather preventing second day dives, which was a huge pain being that I had traveled in to do the course. Stephane kept flexible on getting 2nd day done, communicated with us well, and got a 2nd day arranged for later in the week to complete. Went over to Catalina, and did some awesome dives and such a fun day. Such a great instructor. read more

I wanted to update my review as I just completed my PADI Open Water upgrade scuba certification this past weekend (August 18-19, 2024). I was initially hesitant about returning back to Eco, but since I already have my PADI Scuba Diver certification upgrade options were limited since most other dive shops do not offer a Scuba Diver to Open Water upgrade option. I am glad I decided to give Eco another try! My experience this past weekend was absolutely fantastic. My instructor Zach was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and very encouraging. He is an excellent teacher, and all course expectations/instructions were well-communicated before, during, and after each step of the weekend. My experience at the dive shop was also much more positive this time around. My equipment was in excellent condition. The staff at the shop are friendly and helpful and I was able to get all of my questions answered. I left the weekend eager to plan my next dive! My only source of feedback is that since the open water dives are randomly allocated (students are randomized to go on a dive boat vs. taking the Catalina Express for shore diving off Catalina's Casino point) - it seems unfair that the Catalina students take the short end of the stick with paying an additional $20 for parking at the port + cost of lunch when dive boat students get parking, breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc. included in the class rate. read more

I had the best experience going through Eco Dive's Padi open water certification. The dive shop had all the best gears, and was super clear about the certification steps. Ivan Barrios, our instructor, made our learning experience so memorable! With the right amount of challenge and patience, we were able to learn to use the equipment safely in open water. I just got certified for PADI Open Water! The staff at the center have been amazing - they were super thorough in helping me find fins, boots, gloves, and a snorkel & mask that fit perfectly. This dive center has all THE BEST equipment out there and they also price match. They also set me up with PADI eLearning training which was pretty well put together and easy to follow. I got lucky when I was assigned to Tim Yeo's class for the Open Water course. He has been teaching there for over 14 yrs, and scuba diving for even waaay longer. He has traveled to over 40 countries and scuba dived off 6 continents. He was super friendly, outgoing, funny, and really knew his stuff. I was really impressed with his knowledge and experience in the scuba diving world. He also organizes amazing scuba diving trips all over the world (I hope to go on one of those trips one day). We had a big class, but we were able to split it up into groups of 5 because we had two awesome Dive Masters in training assistants (Pat & Andi who were so cool and knew their stuff as well). I had trouble the first week. I had major nerves and struggled staying calm before jumping in for my first dive at Catalina. Tim was very supportive and helped me through what I was going through and assured me this was normal. 2nd dive was easier but I still wasn't sure if this was for me. Week 2 we went on a kick ass boat called The Magician which took us to the other side of Catalina (the non busy side with no people which was perfect). The cook, Daisy made us hot breakfast (eggs, sausage & waffles)... chicken teriyaki & veggies for lunch, and after our last dive we all had hot brownies and ice cream which was DELICIOUS. They also will make vegan or gluten free meals if you just let the chef know. Thank you Daisy for feed'n us! Scuba Steve, the Dive Master of the boat was also super knowledgable and briefed us thoroughly on the dive sites and where to go safely. Overall, I felt very fortunate to have gone through open water training through Eco Dive Center with Tim Yeo as our instructor. I will definitely be a customer for life and understand the importance of Dive Centers and buying local. Always buy your dive gear at a Dive Center (not Amazon) - they price match anyways and you're supporting your local dive center, not some billionaire. Thanks again Eco Dive Center for such an awesome life-changing experience! You guys are THEE BEST!! Highly recommend. It's only because things ultimately worked out in the end that I am giving them 3-Stars but when I left this store after how I was treated last month I was trying to figure out a way to give them -1 star. I still think it should really be 2 stars--I am being generous. You tell me what you think?: I am big into snorkeling--snorkel all over. I was heading to Hawaii and tested my great tube out that I have had since 2003 and it needed a new mouthpiece--I have replaced the mouthpiece before--it's what you do. If you know about this--the silicone on the mouthpiece hardens up over time and you need to replace them periodically. I call around to a few Dive shops in the area and many are out of mouthpieces due to covid and supply etc. I call Eco Dive Shop and the nicest woman picks up and I tell her what I am looking for and she clearly understands--asks me what kind of tube I have--the shape of the connector--she really impressed me as someone that knows this stuff. After all of that she tell me that they have in stock a regular mouthpiece -- and if I want to pay a little more a "Comfy-Bite" mouthpiece. I say great--I will be there within an hour. I step in the store and there is no one there to help me right away so I just look around to see if I can find the Mouthpieces on my own on the many racks. After about 15 minutes, someone from the back comes out and asks me what I am looking for and I ask for the women (by name) that I spoke to on the phone--he says she is not here. I have my notes from the phone conversation and tell him that she said that the store has 2 different types of mouthpieces--the regular and the comfy one. He responds, "no we don't!" I tell the guy I just spoke with her an hour ago for 10 minutes--she took an interest in what I needed and told me they have them. He responds, "I don't know why she would tell your that!" I was dumbfounded? I could not believe that someone on the phone demonstrating so much knowledge tells me they have something and I arrive an hour later and she is not there and they don't have it. Then the guy says, "Usually when the mouthpiece goes, people just buy another tube." (BTW: A mouthpiece costs $6 to $8--A good tube $40 to $60) That's not true at all. Now I am thinking that this guy working in the Dive Shop knows nothing about the equipment or else he is just trying to sell me a new tube? So I move away from him--he is not very friendly--kind of gives off an abrasive personality. I ask a woman who appears behind the counter if she know where the woman I spoke to on the phone is? (by name). She was also not friendly and says, "I don't know." Then the guy goes over to a rack and spins it around and says, "Here--this is all we have--this Comfy-Bite Mouthpiece--want it?" I ask if I can see if it fits first, and I put it on to make sure. It was size Small on the box--for a Small mouth--I probably needed a Medium but I took it anyway because I was leaving for the trip soon and needed it. But along the way to pay for it, the guy made some other snark comments. If I did not need this mouthpiece ASAP I would have bolted from here a long time ago--but I just sucked it up. It was a really weird experience here. I could not understand what was going on that afternoon? But thing is--while I was not here for Diving--the impression this type of behavior gave me was that these people don't know what they are doing and bad things could happen. I am only giving them 3-stars after this because the Comfy-Bite Snorkel Mouthpiece was excellent and allowed me to stay underwater much longer than most people on the boat on both days and another time after because I did not have that fatigue you usually get from the standard mouthpiece. I am going to try to find the same Comfy one sized Medium before my next trip because that would fit my bigger mouth better. Normally I would contact the Dive shop and see if they can get it for me--But I am scared to step back in this store again. No way I am going through that S again. read more

I recently went through Eco Dive Center to get through to my advanced open water cert and enriched air diver. I was lucky enough to be paired with Stephane who ensured we had as much fun as we did knowledge. After being forced to reschedule due to a "hurricane" Stephane scored us the best possible trip for our final advanced dive. From Casino point we were able to deep dive during the day, and get an epic night dive in before catching the Catalina express back. Stephane went above and beyond ensuring we had transportation and tanks (even though the dive shop closed at 5) and it could not have been a better experience. Although he is just a French Marine we should all be able to forgive him as he's one hell of an instructor. Thanks for providing top notch instructors and ensuring great diving memories! read more

They have a great stock and if they don't have it, they will get it for you very quickly!
