Really bummed at my interaction with Mel!…read more Heard that she does great hair so I scheduled an appointment for box braids. She was pretty booked out which is understandable... BUT midway through the month between when I scheduled the appointment and the actual appointment date, I ended up booking a trip. My travel date home landed on my appointment date. I reached out to Mel to let her know I wouldn't be able to make my appointment and requested a new one! This was more than 2 weeks before my appointment and I didn't hear a word back.. I followed up with her THREE TIMES and never got so much as a reply.. If there is a reschedule policy for new clients it was never mentioned. Or if she just had a change of heart and decided not to take me she could have at least responded once out of the 3 times I hit her up she ghosted me harder than a frat boy. I'm sure she does good braids but this really rubbed me the wrong way.. It takes 2 seconds to let people know what is going on & I'm very bummed to not be posting a 5 star review about my sick braids.

I'm not sure how I was rude in my initial attempt to contact her, maybe leaving the previous yelp review on my experience with Mel and her lack to text back....but she finally text me back (days later). Unfortunately it was a little to late and I had moved on to someone else but to hear I was being "rude" when I wasn't, got me thinking. I replied with a F/U as a means to help justify her thoughts of me being rude. She then continued on (she needed the last word) and wished me a happy holiday (sweet of her) and called me a 'tough fag boyyy' that's with 3 y's for those who are counting (not sooo sweet). I guess I deserve that for saying F/U. But I only said F/U because she called me rude, lol. Seriously though, I found that funny but explained to Mel that calling people names like that (faggg) could backfire. I was a client from California that was not happy how this salon handle a dispute transaction situation. I was referred to this hairstylist back in October 2020. l've provided screenshots that he posted me on his social media websites. He was amazing at his job as I was very happy in the beginning as a paying customer until recent events. This salon deleted all the photos off their sites pretending I never went to them. He moved to Virginia. Here's my First Hand experience as a California client: I disputed a transaction after he rushed the hair services in a hour & half when it should have been 5 hours. It was doubled the price then before. The credit card company in the end sided with him & he got paid. Instead of handling the dispute in person, the hairstylist took things absolutely the wrong way. On July 10, 2024- (Posting from Virginia in California) -D.S. slander/harassed me & my mother on a social media group with my photo & personal information without consent. I did not sign a release of The Right of Publicity for them to take photos of me & post it on their social media sites.One of the co-owners (N.S.) from another salon he was part of also contributed & chimed with D.S. to this. They posted it as a warning to the community. This post was over a SMALL CREDIT CARD Dispute CHARGE which D.S. was paid fully. Due to this, I received numerous threats, harassments, and got bullied from random people. The hairstylists even got their other clients & their friends to join in & bully me. The hairstylist (D.S) was very unprofessional about this whole situation. He continued to harass me by making another post that became threatening on July 12 2024 - It was so horrific that the SLO County Sheriffs Department had to get involved. They called D.S. In Virginia numerous times but he has not returned their call. He even changed his phone number again to not face his legal troubles. D.S. was paid over $7000+ in hair services since 2020. In the end, this is how we got treated as clients over ONE small dispute charge.
