I've been in this store many times, and no matter what I'm looking for, they somehow have it tucked away somewhere. You just have to know whether to check upstairs or downstairs. They make the most of their space and keep a wide variety of items in stock. It's a clean, organized store with good staff and good deals. Big 5 has a decent selection of shoes and some big names. However, there prices are still too close to what you would pay in a named shoe store itself, like nike, adidas, new balance, etc. And while I didn't end up buying anything the customer service and staff as a whole were super helpful and pleasant. Lastly, now that it is summer they most certainly have everything one would need with regards to swimwear, pop up chairs, towels you name it. This Big 5 location has been a fixture in Culver City for a long time. Let's hope it stays that way.

And the cashier gave me an additional 10% off my entire bill just for my email address. I left with a huge bag of clothing 7 items for less than $80. My whole shopping experience was great.

As he spent 20 minutes trying to do so while slamming the scanner, refusing to listen or admit fault, & making a lady wait behind when he could have called someone else... I began to wonder how this place stays open. In going on a separate occasion I watched another teller ignore an elderly man making a purchase, & consistently give him attitude as he inquired about his purchases. Additionally there's no common customer service or hello or thank you & in turn you're ignored. I rarely say this but I would have interacted with a robot instead of a human.

Forced and contrived, like he was about to twist my arm. It's very uncomfortable. NO IS A COMPLETE SENTENCE. They do not understand what NO means. Terrible training on management. I've attached screen shots from Google reviews from other customers that have experienced this obnoxious pushy behavior from their employees. It seems to be an ongoing issue to harass their customers. I would recommend doing the drive to their Manhattan Beach location, as other customers have recommended to avoid the obnoxious abuse.

Employees were letting people in randomly while others were cutting the line with no control. People who showed up later were getting in before those of us who waited for hours. The owner Jeff is a super kind guy who is knowledgeable about surfboards, gear and surf culture. Brian, the manager is top-notch! Super knowledgeable, helpful, surfs himself and understands the boards and gear that he sells. He might not tell you this, but he's a top notch shaper himself although he doesn't talk much about it. This is a local store that deserves support. They've got killer stock of epic surfboards and clothing. It's the kind of place you can go in, have a drink or a coffee, talk story and look at some clips and some of their old boards they have on the wall. Definitely deserves some hype and some credit -- they've been around for a long time and in this economy it's important to support these guys. I've bought many surfboards here over the years and will continue to do so. Ridershack and ET Surf are the two core shops in Los Angeles that I go to.

Then when I got my rope, it was ringing up at a different price at the counter than what it was labeled on the shelf. They had the labels switched and wanted to charge me $10 extra for their mistake. When you do specialty retail, you should be able to answer basic product questions. When YOU make a mistake in labeling, you as the business should own up to it, and you take the hit and then go fix the label on the shelf so it doesn't help. The 3 star rating makes sense now.

The store is remarkable and serves the Board community well. The thing about Arbor over other sporting goods type stores is that the products designed and materials used follow strict sourcing requirements to reduce the impact to earth. I got my first Arbor shirt at REI over 20 years ago and have been an avid follower of their products. I ended up buying several sweatshirts and hoodies which were embroidered or printed in very cool fashion. All the items I purchased were 50 percent off and are of great quality. The cashier and main employee was really nice, as we had nice conversations about our dogs and how she got into boarding. With such nice savings, I'll be back for value priced summer clothing in the next few months.
