The entire play area is rubber floored and is designed for children 5 years and younger. It looks like such a fun place to be. There's a really large lawn area within the park, great for frisbee throwing or kicking a ball. The playground does get some shade from the trees around it. There's a bike track that runs behind this pretty little park. This is most definitely a 'destination playground'. Thank goodness I found one! This is a place for…read morebirthday parties, work Christmas parties, get-togethers and why-not weekend adventures. It has wonderful play equipment, lots of space, sheltered table and chairs, beautiful trees and lawn, toilets and drink fountains. This is such a pretty and well maintained area with many walks and sections to the park. I have included a map of the park so you can have an idea of the space and fun you can have there. If you're wanting to have a large gathering at this park, I would suggest calling the Onkaparinga City Council (the number is listed in the business info section) to see if there's a booking system or a requirement to being able to request a certain area of the park. Visiting Thalassa would be a 'whole day' adventure to get the most out of the place. It sure looks like great fun and is definitely on my list of 'places to go back to and explore further'. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed at this park. Watch out for the Bunyip…read more It's very peaceful here, you can take a walk around the lake which will take about 10 mins max and there are various places to sit and watch birds. I think that's why the Bunyip moved here, because it's such a serene place to be. I like to come and feed the ducks bread, which apparently you aren't supposed to do but hey, I'm a rule breaker. Nice to come a read a book or have a picnic on a warm, sunshiney day or evening to get a fix of nature. I was kidding when I said watch out for the Bunyip, He's actually pretty nice.

Woorabinda Lake is a beautiful little lake hidden away behind Stirling…read more Part of the Stirling Linear Park, Woorabinda originally formed because the newly installed train line prevented water from running as it usually did in the area and pooled in the natural depression now known as the lake. Regardless of the fact that this isn't a natural lake, it is a haven for native species. Water birds like ducks and geese flock here and there are plenty of fish kicking around underwater, not to mention the amphibious and insect components of the area which are numerous to say the least. There are tracks beginning and running through here. To walk around the lake is pretty short (only about .6km), but a nice one for the dogs or kids as the paths and boardwalk are well maintained. There are benches and a bird watching house amongst the wetlands here too if you're planning on a picnic or need a short break. There's also a jetty if you feel like sitting out and catching a few redfin.

As such, I would suggest that it is probably the park that is located in the Gully, and it probably ends at the second falls, not that there is any indicated as to where this park ends and Cleland begins. Mind you, this park, or at least the gully, certainly doesn't feel like your typical national park, in that the trees here make it feel much more like England. On the other hand, this place is the best place to start your trek up to the top of Mount Lofty, probably because there is a car park here. On the other hand, there isn't a kiosk, just a fancy restaurant.

I'd…read morespent years in Adelaide before ever coming here, and I was surprised at how close a natural treasure like this could be situated so close to the hustle and bustle of the city without any overlap. This is one of the reasons I hold Adelaide in such high regard, as you only have to travel ten minutes from the city to find yourself in an oasis such as this. The waterfall is grand and magnificent, and a short walk up to the top will give you a a breathtaking view of the flora (and the carpark) below. However, for the greatest view, one must traverse the walking trail all the way to Mount Lofty. It's no easy feat, and I've experienced my fair share of wanting to turn back. Though it starts off quite pleasant, the climb soon becomes steep and relentless, and simply grounding yourself on the rocky path is a challenge. However, the reward once reaching Mount Lofty is worth it, and you can enjoy a coffee or lunch at the cafe before making your way back down. The scenery on the drive in and out of Waterfall Gully is also picturesque, with age old architecture and rolling hills in the background. I even spotted some deer once on the drive out! Keep your eyes peeled.

Its free! and the best things in life really are. 2. It's enclosed! with metal bar fencing that doesn't resemble a prison and yet still has the same effect. niiice. 3. There is an old steam engine which is the feature of the play equipment. I sure there's some sort of history lesson in that...yay! the park is educational as well!! 4. There is a bathroom with a change table and its clean enough that you can use it before you get absolutely desperate! 5. There are park benches available within the fencing and outside too, so if you have older kids with you too they can run around on the grassy area. 6. I was a kid once, and my folks used to take me to this play ground and I thought it was awesome. 7. There are BBQ facilities, so you can have a gathering there and keep the kids occupied while everyone else does adult things, like drinking beer! only kidding guys, this is a dry zone and that would be slightly irresponsible. 8. There's car parking so if you do have a picnic you don't have the lug the basket halfway to Antarctica. 5 gold stars for a free family day of fun.

It's an ideal place to take the kids if you're out shopping in Stirling because there's enough equipment and hills to occupy the small ones while you socialise or relax on the benches. You see family gatherings and events in the rotunda or at the bbq and benches of this park all the time. Parking's good and immediate as the park shares with the community theatre across the way, there's a drink fountain and public toilet on the same premises. I was particularly fond of climbing up on the steam roller and playing driver when I was a lad, but the rest of the play equipment is great too. Lots of variation and challenges for kids to tackle.

You will have the opportunity to walk no explore the natural habitats of koala bears, pataru, kangaroo, emu, birds, swan, reptiles. There is an onsite cafe serving food and beverages, and gift shop, suitable for families, I would recommend wearing comfortable sneakers and bring a rain jacket or umbrella. Visit this place to have an awesome time exploring.

A membership here pays for itself after just a few visits, and it supports preservation and conservation efforts, which is great. It's best to visit soon after the area opens, so the animals can be fed while they're still hungry. On sunny spring mornings, there's dew on the grass, and the animals become active at just the right time. I strongly suggest trying this with your family, regardless of age.
