Paso Robles ECHO location old motel 6: I have been homeless in this county since October 2020, fleeing domestic terrorism & violence and targeted harassment from an ex who has at least three 10-year criminal protection orders against him. After fleeing Kern County to escape severe attempted double homicide & death threats and disability hate crimes, I sought services here but I was turned away without help. Later, I was unexpectedly contacted and offered a room -- but only after my ex had gained third-party affiliations that allowed continued stalking and harassment. This made the situation feel unsafe and retraumatizing. Instead of genuine assistance, help was only offered under conditions that felt like entrapment, allowing my ex to continue stalking me through third parties allegedly affiliated with staff (Jen, Maria, Sara, Ashley) & clients (Andy, Anna, Maggy) involved in criminal activities specifically related to human trafficking through drug and sexual coercion exploitation and abuse, which I have already survived through the actions of my ex, his family, and their third-party affiliations with my children's paternal relatives. Most employees (Elise, Austin, Stephanie, Sara) & Volunteers (Mike, Felicia) at this shelter appear untrained in trauma-informed care, are unprofessional, and some have displayed dishonest or unsafe behavior such as drug abuse & targeting specific homeless individuals to criminalize out of personal retaliation or power abuse of authority. I cannot recommend this shelter- it does not feel safe, supportive, or trustworthy for me. In 2024, at least over 1 homeless person has died per month the shelter never acknowledges. This program has primarily been centered around continued victimization of homeless participants and clients rather than placement and permanent housing outcomes. read more
