It took me months of being ignored or rejected by rescues to back this puppy up until Shiloh's offered to take over when I explained to them the situation. They've been nothing but amazing. They have taken care of this dog's training and an umbilical hernia he had that needed surgery and all remotely from San Luis Obispo while we are in LA. Now they're doing their best to find him a forever home but I will always continue to support them with or without a foster dog because I could see how much time and effort they put into every dog. I am grateful for them and to have found them because I now have a rescue to support with clear conscience knowing everything I give will go exactly where it is supposed to.

Then we adopted a cat from them, their cat room is amazing. So nice to get out there and be able to actively interact with multiple cats and meet one that fits you. We now have adopted another dog from them. It is great that they keep getting animals from other shelters and adopting them out. Our new dog had some stomach issues, but everything was clearly disclosed on the records and they send you home with everything you could need. The free vet check is a really nice plus. We look forward to joining the classes for our new dog once she is fully healthy and cleared to go. We enjoy supporting them through donations as well because they do such a great job.

Kristi gives a very thorough tour and drops tons of knowledgeable information on the history of WHAR wolves and also each of the wolves personalities, cnaracteristics, and fun facts. She points out the Alpha (but we all know the real Alpha is her, haha), the Beta, and the rest of the wolves' roles in the pack. The wolves have a generously-sized play time area that they take turns running around in. At the end, Kristi took out the Alpha wolf and we got to interact, pet him, and take pictures with him. Such a truly fascinating animal. You can visit by calling and making an appointment and giving a donation. We did the dusk tour for ~$15 per person, but you also have an option for a feeding tour. These are at set times, as the wolves need to be on a set feeding schedule. Parking was easy and the place is located right next to another zoo animal facility. I would highly recommend anyone who loves animals to check this place out!

Our daughter and her husband wanted to get a rescue dog for some time, and found one online at Meade. We just picked him up the other day at Meade's. He is the sweetest little guy, a beagle/corgi mix. Charlotte named him Guy. He's been so wonderfully taken care of during the last month at Meade's. We understood he was abandoned for some time, so is quite shy, a bit skittish, yet so loving. Our daughter and her husband are so happy to have him as a part of their family. They both grew up loving dogs, and pretty much all other animals. They already have a cat, named Ollie from when he was a kitten (also abandoned on the side of the road). So, it was very sweet when Ollie and Emerson (Emmer for short, Guy's new name) met, and instantly got along. Guess they have that special connection. There are state of the art kennels for all kinds of animals there at the facility. We recently adopted a cat and it was awesome playing in one of the two "cat rooms." There are no odors, like their last building, everything is brand new and situated in a way that puts less stress on the animals. We saw two cats we loved, could only keep one, so we paid for the adoption fees so someone could come in and pick her up. They'll tell you if an animal has had it's fees waived. We walked outside and although the dogs were loud and a little stressed, the kennels were situated so we could observe from a distance. There was a tortoise there when we visited, very tempted to adopt. It's been months with Mary and couldn't be happier. A

They host a variety of fundraising events like silent auctions, paint nights, pinot for paws, BBQs, raffles, etc and they also bring adoptable animals to local pet stores like the Petsmart in Salinas or Pet Fun in Salinas. If you follow their Facebook page you can really tell they put in the work to get these animal babies good fur-ever homes. From writing cute bios about the pets, to doing adorable photo shoots, this org puts in the work to save the lives of all the animals they've rescued.
