Everything that day tasted so fresh and so delicious! The red velvet cake slice was amazing! My husband loved all his cookies too! We loved the bakery so much we came back a few days later unfortunately that day it wasn't nearly as good except for the cookies. I bought a carrot cake slice, a cheesecake/brownie slice and various cookies. The carrot cake slice wasn't that great and tasted a few days old. The brownie part to the cheesecake slice was very good, but the cheesecake on top wasn't that great. We did enjoy the cookies. We came back for a third time on Monday Jan 26, 2026 and I purchased a brownie that tasted a month old at least! It was hard as a brick! Needless to say I didn't eat it! I also bought a chocolate mousse cake slice that was extremely fresh and good. As usual the cookies we purchased were all fresh and very good. All in all this bakery is a mixed bag you don't know if you're going to get something fresh or stale. Everything is either hit or miss. I'd come back again and give it another shot, but I wouldn't come often.

HORRIBLE EXP!! STAFF RUINED OUR GENDER REVEAL BY REVEALING GENDER…read moreWe ordered gender reveal cupcakes on 10/12 (name is Rad on order), giving the employee a sealed envelope with the gender since we didn't know ourselves. Later that day, we called to change the pickup date from 10/17 to 10/14, and the employee confirmed the change. When I asked to make sure all cupcakes would be filled, she said, "Yes, all will be filled with pink," completely ruining the surprise. This was supposed to be a private, special moment for us as expecting parents, and it was ruined by carelessness. The next day, another employee called to confirm our order but didn't even seem to have the correct details, proving the lack of communication. Please train your staff better for situations like this--moments like ours can't be redone. I emailed the company - they said the store manager will call but never did. Completely unprofessional. -- Reema

Based on her reaction, it's safe to say that their cupcakes aren't that bad. I wasn't a big fan of the service here. The people seemed like they just wanted us to get in and get out. I felt like they could've been more welcoming and nicer. They didn't even acknowledge my niece. The vibe here isn't really anything special. Would I come back here again? Probably not. You guys can check it out and see for yourself. Maybe I came on the wrong day.

In the sleepy little town of South River, who knew that you could find a treasure trove of…read moreauthentic Portuguese restaurants, cafes, and bakeries. Cavaco Supermarket is known in town as the go-to Portuguese deli, grocery, and bakery. The shelves are even stocked with products imported from Portugal. On the front counter, you'll find a variety of fresh baked breads, codfish fritters and turnovers, pastries, as well as of course espresso. In addition, they are a churrasqueria and offer delicious BBQ chicken, served in a giant tray over rice and fries. Their pastries, such as their bola de berlim and pastel de nata I'm not too much of a fan of compared to other spots in town, but their chicken and codfish fritter was delicious and their fries are even fresh cut. Take a look at their various imported goods and merchandise and you'll certainly be surprised!

(And a different collection for the Mexican community but that's a review for another day) And Cavaco's Supermarket is one of these. And what a gem it is. At first you might think the store owners are unfriendly but they are not. They just speak very little English. And if you just try a little bit they are so warm and welcoming. And their food is delicious and different. I have a photo of what the store owner was calling codfish, which I was sure was something else but it wasn't. It was a delicious oniony pancake/fritter with chunks of fish in it (Thanks Brendan B for letting me know they are Pataniscas and Pataniscas de Bacalhau in particular!) I also bought a fried (croquette ?) with savory chicken inside. It was the perfect mix of crisp and chewy outside and spiced chicken inside! I also had a delicious cappuccino (Every cappuccino I have had in South River is delicious) Loving my newly discovered secret place, South River, NJ. But Shhhhh don't tell anybody! I like having it all to myself!

On a lazy weekend morning in search of caffeine, we found Habibi Motor Cafe - a cute, modern,…read morebright coffee shop with tons of seating for remote work opportunities. The look of the space alone draws me in to visit, but the coffee is so good as well. Their specialty latte flavors all sounded amazing, but we opted for the tiramisu & the white chocolate raspberry. I appreciate a cafe that makes their own syrups/flavors, and the taste at Habibi's reflects that. I loved having real raspberry puree instead of an imitation syrup, and the flavor of the tiramisu latte was spot on - not too sweet, just how we like it. The coffee was bold and smooth, and I cannot wait to return and try the rest of the menu!

Being Middle Eastern myself, I liked the unique concept and knew I had to stop by when we were in the area. We arrived around 5pm and it was extremely loud & busy. The atmosphere and seating gives relaxing environment, but in reality, there were people with laptops (on a Saturday), kids running around, and generally the acoustics inside aren't great. Nonetheless, we placed an order and grabbed a table. I got the Iced Crème Brûlée Latte which was very well executed. It's rich, bold, and had notes of vanilla and burnt caramel. They definitely nailed the crème brûlée flavor. Even the Cortado was nicely presented and soothing. I liked that the flavor profile in the espresso was not overpowered by the milk or extraction process. I was also bummed that they didn't have their cool cups that say "Habibi" on them! Their branding is one of the things that caught my eye about them and it sucks to see them switching to nonbranded cups (assuming for cost reasons). Overall, it was worth a try!
