I'm not an expert in mexican food but you can tell when you're eating something made from scratch and not microwaved like at taco bell or whatever. This time around i came in person and alas they run out of tamales by lunch time (i came at around 3 pm) so we ordered burritos instead. i ordered the pork burrito and it comes with a side avocado salad. OMG let me just say OMG this place has totally spoiled my taste buds and I can no longer eat anything from chains like taco bell, chipotle, baja fresh or whatever else is out there. Once you've had the real deal, you can't go back to eating the fake and mediocre. The burrito was HUGE generously filled with pork, rice and beans. The side salad was simple but delicious: lettuce, cheese and avocado with some white salad dressing. of course it comes with salsa verde. they also serve other dishes here like ox tail etc...displayed cafeteria style. Great place to get authentic, take-out mexican food. Apparently they deliver in the Jamesburg area ( you guys are so lucky). I will be coming here again to try the other dishes and in time to get some tamales.

When I walked in at 11am this morning all I could hear was laughter. And laughter in a foreign tongue! I love that! The owner, a very sweet fellow, was telling a funny story (I don't speak Portuguese so one of the girls translated) while the customers were filling their bags with fresh baked bread, scooping fresh olives and choosing just the right sausage for Sunday dinner. I like to visit small businesses on the weekends when I can. There's a feeling, a vibe that you can only get on weekend mornings, especially a Sunday mornings, when everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. Express Deli not only has baked goods, like coconut sweet bread and at least 8 different kinds of Brazilian and Portuguese rolls, but they have fresh out of the oven rolls! Oh my gosh! There are apples and pears, and onions and potatoes, and every type of meat imaginable and Pasteis de Natas (delicious Portuguese egg custard tarts) by the dozen! I've stopped there for years to grab a sandwich, get a piece of ready made lasagna, bread, cookies and have loved everything I bought. Sat down with Bob several weeks ago to come up with menu for 30 people. I wanted it simple; no hot foods, just subs and a few salads. My family will eat ANYTHING. Bob mentioned wraps, subs, plus tortellini, pasta and potato salad. Sounded great to me. I specifically said I wanted the pasta salad with pancetta or prosciutto (which Bob mentioned and I said "YES! One of those please!"). The food was delivered right on time but the plates were way too small to have a sandwich and some salads. That didn't really matter in the end because what got small dry subs (bread was half the size of the regular subs), meh wraps, no meat in the pasta salad and the potato salad had a watery milk like sauce with chunks of potatoes so large you'd gag if you didn't cut them in half. The wraps, tortellini and half of the subs went. No one touched the potato or the pasta salads. I don't understand how the catered food could be SO disappointing from the food in the cases. When it came time to offer food for family to take home, nobody wanted it. So I paid for food to go in the garbage. Very, very disappointed!
