I have been a client of Ebony Lucas' in various capacities since 2009. I met her at a seminar that she was hosting for condo associations plagued by foreclosures. We talked a little after the seminar and I explained my situation to her. She was very knowledgeable about Real Estate and Condo Law and explained my options. I knew then that I needed to retain her to assist with my failing condo association. Soon after retaining Ebony we began seeing results (i.e. recouping delinquent association dues). After all of our units went into foreclosure we were able to recoup funds owed to the association and were able to make much needed improvements to the building and have some in reserve. The developers that purchased the foreclosures in our unit were so impressed at how she handled our association that they then retained her to handle all of their properties as well. I have never had an issue contacting Ebony whether it be via email or telephone. She always responds promptly to my questions. Her rates are very reasonable and fair and her billing procedures are standard. My mother most recently used her to help with a business lawsuit and Ebony represented her and WON! I have most recently retained her for legal advice for my business and am very confident in her abilities to give me great advice. The woman is a manipulative and narcissistic person in my opinion. She recently won a lawsuit for defamation against Alderman Lamont Robinson. She has a relationship with these state judges so you likely will not get a fair hearing or trial if you sue her. She isn't a good attorney at all . She represents both homeowners, condominium management companies , and condominium boards. She takes money from homeowners and then sells them out so she can get paid based on my personal experience. I was shocked to see the Chicago Realtor Association backed her in the last Alderman election. Her reputation is not good in the community at all. I used her before and she violated my client attorney privilege and took kickbacks from the company I paid her to defend. This is based on documents I received from a government agency. She has run for alderman 3 times this woman should not be a licensed attorney let alone an alderman. This is my opinion based on my personal experience with her. She has great academic credentials but she's a hood rat from Detroit with a bad temper, shady and corrupt. I do not recommend this woman at all. She is dangerously shady. I wish I wish I wish I wouldve seen this before we hired this sham attorney for our association: Our group was the first to write a review about Ebony Wilkerson which has since disappeared due to the negative nature (read yelps disclaimer). Its true, she's helped one condo association get out of trouble, one. She was working with a team of lawyers on that particular case. As far as cases she handles on her own she's the best of the bottom. Overbilling, filing cases early which leaves open the posibility of a dismissal against her clients. Not bad for her since she gets paid, bad for the client who has wasted time and a lot of money. She specializes in condo law but is new at it (2 years). She's had numerous associations as clients but not for long. In most cases we've heard of, she off the scales in billing associations.Condo boards usually dismiss her after a year with little legal progress, a large legal expense and even more life lesson.
