I was in the Atlantic Ave store in Pittsburg, this morning 5/20/2025 at 9 am. There were two Hispanic females on duty. When I walked in, they were having a conversation, so I paused for a moment to wait for them to finish their conversation. After waiting, they continued, so I walked down the isle to see if I could locate the products I wanted. I returned to the entrance where they were still talking. I left. I came to Ebony Beauty to purchase braiding hair and was incredibly impressed with the selection of hair and products and at a very fair price. I was able to find Rasta-Fri braiding hair in several colors and lengths. Recently I have purchased some no-name brand braiding hair on Amazon or at various small businesses shops and the quality is lacking and the hair would unravel after a week or two. What really blew me away was the enormous amount of curly/natural hair products (like shampoos, oils, butters, gel) in their aisles. I usually get my products on a rotation at Target or Amazon but to see all my favorites in one place is awesome. As I Am. Mielle. Tgin. Design Patterns. The list goes on. And a fraction of the price! I spent several minutes exploring and settled on 5 packs of braiding hair, braid cleanser, a giant tub of eco styler gel, and a new edge brush for under $50. Not sure why there are so many harsh reviews but I will definitely be back for a one stop shop. On May 26th, I came into Ebony Beauty Supply to shop for some items. Their earrings are locked in a glass case and has to be opened by an employee to access them. I asked one of the employee's (I think she said her name was "Marie") if she could help me at the earring container as she was on a personal call. She said ok and I walked back to the earrings to wait on her. After about 8 minutes of waiting, I headed back to the employee to see what was taking her so long. As I turned around, there was another lady standing behind me that I thought was also a customer waiting to see the earrings. When I approached Maria, she was still on the personal call but told the person on the other line to hold on and she told me that she gave the keys to "the lady behind me"! As I turned around, it was the same lady that was standing behind me at the earring counter that I thought was a customer but was an employee instead that NEVER made me aware that she was there to help me with the earrings! She stood behind me the whole time and never let her presence be known nor offered to help me! Needless to say, I was no longer interested in purchasing earrings from this store! Been here many times when I need to get hair coloring supplies and refer them to everyone . But Im not anymore 1st the lack of customer service . 3 people standing around you ask where an item is the reply is in a rude way like i Interupted a very important meeting "about some guy" mind you it's like the front is the break room. I came here in late June to get some braiding hair right quick. The customer service is horrible. The clerk had a attitude with me for no reason. It's not the customers fault your unhappy with your life. Leave that shitty attitude in the parking lot. So I'm definitely not surprised at the way 2 Black women were treated in a video that's going around FB. The Lady at the cash register card declined. So the women in line behind her offered to pay for her products. The Clerk said she couldn't do that and called the police on these Lady's. For absolutely no reason at all. Not the biggest store around but the nicest, most helpful ppl ever. Customer service is everything, says a lot about a business and they do have that. The supply is good too, great prices, good quality wigs, hair supply. Anything you need, they'll help you with it. Everytime I've went there I've never been disappointed. I frequent this place often, and they are always courteous. When I go in and ask for something specific they can point me in the right direct. The store is a bit cramped and cluttered but manageable. Two stars because when I called to inquiry if a product was in stock, the person that answered took the time to check, and promptly got back on the line and confirmed that they indeed had the item. When I asked how much it was she replied "we do not give out prices over the phone". I was perplexed, I can't come to any reasonable conclusion as to why they have such a policy. They have a credit charge minimum, and I explained that I was aware of the minimum and just wanted to know the cost due to the enforced charge minimum. The women working here are angels. Eva and the lovely woman managing the store really helped my mom figure out how to put together a new look. After my mom's hairdresser cut a foot off her hair, she was devastated and we were trying to figure out what to do. We came here after someone at Sally's said they have reasonably priced stuff. The staff spent like an hour explaining clip-ons and glue-ins and helping us try out different wigs since we've never used any of them before. With their help, we found a beautiful wig that brought back my mom's confidence. Thank you! read more

However, they have been out of stock of a product I frequently buy for months and they haven't been able to tell me when they will have it back in confidence. Great selection of products but they should have known I needed help in the back as they watch you on a huge monitor at the front of the store. I had to walk back to the front of the store to ask for help. Instead of watching me why don't you do your job and provide assistance. Most times the staff is helpful, however, this particular time the associate acted as if I was inconveniencing her by asking her to pull out the hair from the packaging to see if it was the right color.
