Between my husband and myself, we have been loyal edge users and EB Games customers at the EB Games inside Pine Center Mall in Prince George, B.C. for 10+ years. However, recent experiences have not been satisfactory at all.
For the past 2-3 months when we have gone for games that have just come out or happen to be in your weekly flyer, we have been repeatedly told that they are sold out. (Even though they were just released that day in a few cases.) I thought it might be a product of the holiday season, so was giving them the benefit of the doubt, however, it has not improved.
There have been times where we have asked an employee if they had a game or were planning to bring one in (such as a collectors edition game as opposed to a standard issue game) only to be met by a blank stare. Even that was given the benefit of the doubt as it was possible that they were new employees.
Today, however, was the final breaking point. My husband preordered Kingdom Hearts 2.8 for me for my birthday back in November of last year. Since you promoted that all preorders were going to be automatically upgraded to the limited edition, and nobody told him otherwise, we thought we were set. When I picked up the game before work, however, I was mearly given the standard edition of the game (without the box and bonus content promised.)
Thinking that something wasn't right and still having a bit of time before my shift started, I immediately checked the website. As the page hadn't been updated yet, it clearly said that all preorders were automatically upgraded. When I called EB Games to express my confusion, I was told that the limited edition needed to be preordered from day 1. When I said that that was not what my husband was told, and that hey should honour what the website is advertising, I was very rudely and shrilly told that "I have nothing to do with the website and if you have a problem with it then contact head office."
It is for this reason and months of being sold out of games that we will be taking our business elsewhere from now on. I would strongly suggest that someone retrains all the staff at this location as there is only one employee that is knowledgeable and helpful and start bringing in more games and less trivial items such as socks and scarves. It's pathetic that you can't get a video game at a VIDEO GAME retail store. read more
