Been dealing with no hot water for on and off four months and yet the issue is still not resolved. Property management just puts a quick fix to hold the issue over until it happens again. We now are going in three days with cold showers and water. When reaching out to JRK you get out to a voicemail and never responded to. Then you call again and they don't answer your call. No response from corporate. Trash area here is always a mess and full. Snow removal is a Joke, doorways and hydrants blocked. Cars blocked in by snow plowing. I wish we had learned from first time we started applying to live here and how unprofessional and unresponsive the property manager company is and was. DO NOT LIVE HERE! STAY AWAY. Not luxury living by any means especially for the amount you pay here. Very upsetting. 8/23/2021 New property manager is great. Corporate still sucks. They still remain unresponsive and just want to charge more money for everything. Nothing sent us is ever right or in accordance with Massachusetts law. They have violated so many since our moving in it's scary. Pool was open three days this summer but yet we still are paying for it as an amenity in our monthly rent. DO NOT RENT HERE! Can not wait to move!

I am torn because I enjoyed living here for the year that I did. My apartment was spacious,…read morebeautiful, and had some great amenities that I enjoyed having (large bathtub, fireplace, balcony) but a few things unfortunately soured the experience for me, near the end. 1. Maintenance leaves a lot to be desired. My air conditioning broke in June. I came home to my apartment being 88 degrees, and I had to turn my AC down to about 68 degrees to get it to work at all. I could barely feel any airflow from most of my vents, and it would take several hours to even get my apartment to a bearable temperature. Maintenance really barely did anything to try and fix it. First two times the on call maintenance tech came out, would complain about having to come out, scanned my vents with a temperature gun and told me it was fine. When I had him scan the wall, and it showed 12 degrees higher than the vent, he shrugged and said a specialist would be called out tomorrow. The specialist just ended up being the maintenance supervisor, he changed a capacitor and topped off my unit I suppose, and they called it fixed. Still wasn't fixed, but I didn't feel like dealing with maintenance anymore, and I had planned to move out. It is also frustrating that I had to keep the AC very low to have it work at all, and it caused my energy bill to be ridiculously expensive. 2. The dumpsters are crawling with rats. I was told several times by multiple people that they are working on it, but it never felt like it. When I'd stand on my balcony at night I would look over at the dumpster, and I'd see 5-7 rats running back and forth from the trees, pretty much anytime at night. When I went to throw my trash in the dumpster at night, after the bag hit the bottom multiple rats scurried out from the dumpster. Not a great experience, and you couldn't pay me to live in a first floor apartment here. Highlands at Dearborn does a lot of things right, the apartments are very nice, but sadly the two factors above make it really hard to recommend to anyone.

Pursuant to tenant rights in MA we did not have to pay rent during this time yet we still did. We also continued to pay rent for the 6 months we had no hot water that was being refused to be treated by management as well. We went 3 months without a dishwasher and a broken wash machine for God knows how long. We have video proof of the mice that was let in by maintenance workers constantly leaving their work garage open. Our garage got flooded by an upstairs apartment and they never informed us even though it ruined tons of items. Then this disastrous place had the gall to place my final months rent, that I told them I would not pay due to the mouse issue not being fixed, in collections. Awful company, disgusting apartments, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF.

I know I might get ragged on for this review, but I'm going to say it anyway…read more For the price that you pay for a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment that barely has room for a couple to live together you'd think that they would pay a little more attention when you call for something to be fixed. The ceiling paint in our bathroom has been chipping since this past summer. I called and one of the maintenance guys showed up to check it out. He remarked "gee, that's bad" and then said how nice my couch was, how much had it cost, and where could he get one. Needless to say, the ceiling still hasn't been repaired. On a better note they have an exceptional recycling program here. It could just be that I'm used to Upstate New York's not being able to recycle as many things, but this has been by far the best experience I've had when needing to recycle things from my apartment. As for location, it's allows you to be pretty close to everything you could need. Shaw's is less than a 2 minute drive, the North Shore Mall is even closer than that, with Kappy's across it on Route 114. Their new laundry facilities and fitness center although clean overall, the machines in both areas are not kept very well. I understand that tenants can beat the crap out of things they didn't pay for, but there is also general maintenance that can be done on these items to maintain them for longer periods of time. Needless to say there has been more than one occasion where I've gone to put a load of laundry in the washing machine and decided to choose a different one because the container for bleach did not expel its contents into the previous wash that it was intended for.

During relaxing walks through Leslie's Retreat Park, along the North River, I had admired the modern architecture of the Halstead Apartments. When it came time to leave Salem's picturesque McIntire district, it was obvious that I would move to a modern Halstead Salem Station apartment! There are no regrets! The riverside / parkside environment is relaxing, and very close to Salem's shops and museum. A 5 minute walk to Swampscott, Boston and New York bound trains. More importantly, Halstead is also walking distance to relaxing Salem Harbor, Willow's Park, Winter Island, and a short drive to Beverly's Dane Street Beach, and the beautiful beaches of the Cape Ann oceanfront . The Halstead apartments are modern, well equipped and spacious, with much storage space. Most importantly, is the absolutely excellent management staff at Halstead (Jennifer, Brian and Kayla) are more like family, very competent, and always ready to assist. Oh yes, did I mention the facilities of Building 1, extensive indoor exercise areas, meeting rooms and entertainment / social places - including a magnificent roof deck with all required facilities for a relaxing summer gathering of family and friends." Don't hesitate, 5 Stars!! Stuart M.

I have had a black fly infestation that keeps getting covered up, with no real solution to why they keep coming in my window. Ive asked for a plan to solve this multiple times, and no response. I clean flys daily near my window, couch and floor. This is not the maintenance guys fault, this is a bigger issue that management is ignoring. Previous manager Jenn had heart, she cared about her residents and respected us, in knowing this is our home and not just a business. Jenn and the maintenance personnel left, and are now working for a new property. We were never notified by upper management of a plan to cover the transition. Quite frankly if I owned this place I would want to know this information, "E" (upper management) should have taken a major role in making sure we were ok, and should be held to a standard of answering her emails so people don't feel ignored. I wonder if they would want to live with black flys in their living space? Or have emails go unanswered? The new property manager also does not answer her emails, and seems to have closed door policy. New staff are not welcoming, almost seem annoyed when you need something. This place felt like home before, now it is most definitely not somewhere I will be staying long term.
