The place was filled with locals discussing Friday night's high school football game, which somehow made the whole experience even better. Overall, I'd give the food an 8/10, but we also didn't walk in expecting a fine-dining experience. This was clearly a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-eat kind of place. The brisket sandwich with jalapeño spread was very good. The brisket was chopped and covered in a tasty homemade sauce, while the jalapeño spread added the perfect amount of heat and a nice smoky flavor. It came with a side of hand-cut fries that were delicious. Our server suggested getting the fries covered in Hatch chile queso, and honestly, that may have been the star of the show. I'm not sure queso-covered fries are part of any recognized food group, but they should be. We also ordered the fried catfish basket, and it was very good as well. The fish tasted fresh, and the cornmeal batter was exactly what you'd expect from good Southern-style catfish. Even the house-made coleslaw was a pleasant surprise, which is saying something because coleslaw is usually the side dish everybody politely ignores. Service was exceptionally friendly, and overall, the stop was a success. I probably wouldn't plan an entire road trip around B's, but if you're passing through Fort Stockton, you're hungry, and you want some good, locally owned mom-and-pop food, this downtown staple is definitely worth a stop.

The chips were warm and the salsa was delicious-- bright, flavorful, and with just the right amount of kick (mild heat but not too spicy; your three-year-old might not be a fan but my husband who doesn't normally like too spicy enjoyed it). I ordered my staple whenever I visit a diner/cafe for the first time-- the Patty Melt with mustard and mayo on the side (this condiment combination on the side is winning with a patty melt, btw ). They offer all the veggies with it but I just ordered mine with sautéed onion. The food took a little bit but we weren't in a hurry and when it came out it was nice and hot. My Patty Melt was served on a buttery grilled Texas Toast with a side of fries and it was oh so good. Loved the variation of Texas Toast in place of Rye bread. It was seasoned well and both classic and unique. Made with love! The fries had a good balance of crispy and soft inside. My husband and son ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and were really happy with it. My husband said that it tasted like a "Texas Burger." Doesn't that say it all, though. The women working inside were kind and welcoming. They chatted with us and were helpful whenever we asked questions about the menu. They gave us a sweet Texas goodbye on our way out and told us to drive carefully like sweet Texas mamas do. Heck, grab five and enjoy one while you're strolling down the strip of unique shops, just make sure you finish before you head into the little art gallery and gift shop, which is also a must-see!

Never having tried an antelope burger, I opted for that. Minimal to no gamey flavor at all. If anything, it was pretty much similar in almost all aspects to a lean beef burger. The green chile added some texture and flavor but not to the point where it detracts from the meat itself. That's a plus! Other things that I will note - the restroom is outside in a shack that's right across from the outside bar area. The inside of the restaurant truly feels rustic and magical at the same time - a feel that really encapsulates Terlingua. We didn't get to see a performance. It looked like they were preparing for one but there wasn't anything for that evening. Some pluses were that our waitress was kind enough to give us a bag of ice as the restaurant was closing for the night. For the not-so-nice... there is a shared outdoor restroom with a toilet, urinal snd sink attached to the old jail cell. The urinal was so close to the toilet, that when getting up, it felt like you were shoving your head inside. And it reeked of old nasty urine. My suggestion, hold it.
