When I called to get a refund they kept arguing how it was their day off (even though I called during when they said they'd pick up the phone) and how they called me back (there is NO RECORD of them calling me back). And then tried to give me a life lesson of how I'm just trying to go too fast. Well I guess people should just pay $400 and not being able to get the service now? This is the worst business and the most entitled customer service I've ever interacted with. Can't imagine how their instructor will behave if they can't even handle their scheduling right. It's like they're allergic to responsibility LOL update: They have since sent me a message "I'm sorry you got impatient and jumped the gun". Sounds like someone never learned to take responsibility and apologize. Does it sound like your abusive family member trying to blame you on their fk ups? It sure does. I booked lessons for two 19 year olds with this school. I was going to pay for 3 lessons each to…read morehelp prepare them for the road test. I have a set of twins I let them know I wanted lessons to be kept separate bc I did not want them feeling more pressure. They were both already a bit nervous. Jerry was the instructor. They each had a lesson with him then my daughter went out on her second lesson and after speaking to her she told me he made her uncomfortable because he spoke of politics the entire time" Trump will fix everything" I have no issues with people having an opinion about politics I just would have preferred he kept it professional. My daughter and I do not share political views so to be clear his views did not offend me, they offended his student. Then she came back from the lesson I started asking her if they had worked on the things they needed to know for the road test. I am not a professional driving instructor so I as a parent I can get in the car and drive around and tell them to turn left. I expected the instructor to tell them what they would need to know and practice it with them. Parallel parking, the proper distances between cars, whatever they might be tested on. I called the office and voiced my concern that I was paying 1.50 a minute to have someone do what I could do. So My son went on his 2nd lesson with Jerry, (in between these lessons I was driving with my young adults) there were a few issues in the parking lot of target, Jerry had to slam on his brakes. He got my son to park went in to the bathroom, got my son a water to calm down, no issues so far. But then his twin sister had a lesson following him. Jerry proceeded to tell her that her brother scared him told her he almost hit a woman in the parking lot and he had to slam on his brakes, did dangerous maneuvers and would be failed immediately if he drove like that on the road test. He was speaking to another student and his sibling. I called Jerry he said "no I was not scared it was ok book another lesson for him next week." As a parent I was concerned when my daughter came home telling me all this bc my son had not told me this happened during his lesson. She teased her brother, my son now refuses to get behind the wheel of a car. That was 2 weeks ago. I just found out that was why he was not booking his next lesson with Jerry last night. I could not get him in the car to practice with me he always made excuses until I cornered him and had him talk to me. SO I called bc I was angry that Jerry was so unprofessional as to speak about my son's lesson with his sister. He said " I did not know your family was like that" attacking me and my family yelling at me telling me not to book another lesson they do not want my business bc he was unprofessional and I called to speak about it. No I am sorry, I should not have spoken to your daughter about her brother's lesson. No taking any responsibility for that at all. I am just disgusted with the unprofessional behavior. If you have multiple children I would not advise paying this school or Jerry for lessons as he seems unable to understand what professional behavior looks like offending first one of my young adults by discussing his politics for over an hour not taking social cues when she tried to change the subject then violating my son's privacy by discussing how he drove with his sister and instead of calming my son...letting him know if you drive long enough we have ALL had moments of near misses and helping to build his confidence back up and calling me to discuss what happened so I could coach him the same way. He opened him up to teasing by his sister and then attacked my family. I paid this school entirely too much money to be treated that way. Go somewhere else before you spend over 1,000.00 with this school.

As a parent, safety is my biggest concern, and I wanted to make sure my daughters understood how to drive safely, so I decided to try one lesson with East Bay Driving School. The instructors helped build their confidence and understanding of the road. Now that my youngest needs driving lessons, I came back to East Bay Driving School without hesitation. Their customer service is excellent, they are responsive, and they communicate in a timely manner. I highly recommend East Bay Driving School to any parent looking for a driving school that genuinely cares about teaching students to be safe and confident drivers. When I first booked the behind the wheel for my child with Lindsey, I made an agreement for 3…read morelessons package at a certain price. Because I was uneasy paying up front for all 3 lessons, Lindsey said I could pay for each lesson by check at the time of my appointment. This sounded great. Bill ended up being my child's driving instructor for the first lesson. Like other people have said, he did have his hand on the steering wheel most of the time, not allowing my child to have their own control. I thought this was weird, but honestly, I just needed the lesson for dmv purposes. Fast forward to several months later and I try to book the last 2 lessons. Because it's a new year now, the male on the phone said the price had gone up. I understand. The price went up. But I already had made a pre existing agreement with Lindsey, so my initial quoted prices should be locked in and honored. I already had the first lesson. The male on the phone was very insistent that even though I had spoken with Lindsey on pricing, I still have to pay the new increased price. Now how is this fair? I'm still waiting to hear back from him...so we shall see how great of a company they are....or how money hungry they really are.

My daughter just finished her second lesson with Shelley. What I really liked about this school:…read more 1) They encourage the parent to go along on the drive so you can learn how to instruct your child and be consistent with what the instructor is emphasizing. 2) There was no down time sitting in the car listening to the instructor. The two hour driving lesson was spent with my child driving - that's what I paid for! 3) The lessons have been challenging. I can do the easy stuff with my child; I want the two hour lesson to bring her to the next level. Shelley had her practice what she would need to know for the test and also what she would need to know for real driving (freeway lane changes, merging, narrow mountain road, etc.). 4) I also liked that I paid per lesson and didn't get hooked into three lessons from the beginning. Yes. we will do all three lessons with Shelley, but if the first lesson hadn't gone well then we didn't have any commitment. 5) My daughter's review "Ms. Shelley is a hoot. No really, she's a good teacher." Before the first lesson, my daughter was very scared. She even asked if she could cancel it. Shelley put her in the driver seat quickly, so she didn't have time to increase her anxiety. Shelley stayed calm and gave her confidence pointing out how well she was doing. And like I said, Shelley made it challenging (from Danville drove South Gate to North Gate roads then down Ygnacio through Walnut Creek) so that no matter where I took her during our practice in between lessons I could just refer back to her lesson and say this isn't as hard as what you did on your lesson.
