Horrible service. I would never trust this company again with my child. I paid $200 toward a $475 agreement with Four Seasons for my daughter's behind-the-wheel driving instruction. During one of the lessons, the instructor took my minor daughter to his personal home for a "water bottle fill-up" and restroom break without my knowledge or consent. There was absolutely no reason my child should have been taken to a private residence during paid instructional time. When I confronted him, instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, he became defensive and tried to justify it by claiming public locations were "unsafe." I later reviewed DMV guidelines, which clearly state instructors are not supposed to use lesson time for personal errands and that restroom breaks should occur at public locations. After losing trust in this instructor, I requested my daughter's certificate for the 2 hours already completed so we could continue with another school. He ignored my messages while clearly reading them, and only responded after I pointed out that the messages had been seen. He claimed he needed to "review his records" before sending the certificate, yet days later I still have no certificate and no resolution. I have proof, including location data and photos my daughter sent confirming she was taken to his home. I will be filing a formal complaint with the DMV and pursuing reimbursement through small claims court if necessary for services that were paid for but not properly fulfilled. I paid for 6 hrs for my son to get his 6 hrs certificate. All went well after 2 lessons. We waited for his 3rd lesson but never received a text or a call. I decided to text and call Dan but now that same number replied that he is not a driving instructor. It's the same number as the one that we have been communicating with and the same as the one on their website. I searched DMV driving school list and 4 season driving is not listed on DMV website. I searched Better Business Bureau and it's not listed there either. I will be contacting my credit card company to request a refund for services not rendered. read more

Dan was very professional and helped my son gain the confidence he needed to pass his drivers test.

I usually do not write reviews but felt that I really need to for this business. My son had his driving instructions with Dan and everything was great. So, when my daughter needed driving instructions I naturally went back to Dan. What a mistake! For the first two sessions everything was fine and my daughter was happy with Dan's instructions. However, during her third and final session he said some VERY inappropriate things to my 16 year old daughter. He told her that she was sexy and that she had a beautiful body. He said to her that too bad she's not 21 because he would take her to Tahoe. When he dropped her off he asked her if he could come in so she could make him lunch. Needless to say my daughter couldn't get out of the car fast enough and he made her feel extremely uncomfortable during the session. Dan behaved VERY unprofessionally, inappropriately, and was very perverted! Thankfully nothing beyond what he said happened otherwise it would be more than just this Yelp review I am writing. The experience we had with this place was awful. The instructor by the name of Dan cursed and yelled at my child to the point of humiliation. Dan should learn to control his temper and have patience with students as he is supposed to be teaching them. Dropping the F word instead of simple advice and instruction is not teaching. I am surprised that anyone would have an instructor who is so unprofessional working for them. I do not recommend them at all. I would look elsewhere before I ever use this awful place! If you do not like being called names and having the F word used frequently while trying to learn, then stay far away from this place. Protect your kids from such an abusive person. The other reviewers may have had better experiences but the vast majority of those reviewers have little history or reviews here at yelp that alone is very Suspicious. My first lesson with Dan was alright; he leaned over to honk the horn for me after a truck turned when we had the right of way and he made me pump his gas for him. The second lesson Dan won't give me a refund of any kind for a 2-hour lesson that cost me $125. The lesson ended less than an hour in because I had a medical problem that makes me violently angry come up that made it unsafe for me to drive. He keeps saying because I decided to end the lesson early I don't get a refund disregarding the fact I did it for our safety. read more

The worst place ever. Dan stole our money and never showed up for our lessons. He came to the first and I paid for the second and he never showed up or answered any of our calls or messages. If I could put zero stars, I would. Dan is completely unprofessional. I highly advise that if you are a parent that's hiring this business to teach your child how to drive, PLEASE RIDE ALONG! I rode by myself with Dan and he tried so many times to cut my hours by saying "oh you're good at driving, is it okay if you just pay me the rest of what you owe and I just sign off your papers?" Note, it was my first time driving, and my first hour into my training.. he tried to charge me $250+ for 1 hour of training? I declined and told him I wanted the full 6 hours because I didn't feel confident. The second training, he showed up an hour late.. he made me go down one long road and into the hills of El Cerrito to pick up his next elderly client! He then told me to hop in the back seat and he had his other client drop me off at my house. I WAS ONLY AN HOUR INTO MY TRAINING AGAIN! I showed up once again home early and my parents were highly confused. For the 3rd shift, I told him I didn't want to do it and to just sign my papers because of how highly uncomfortable I was with him alone since no one was able to ride along. Do not hire Dan! He's hot tempered as heck. DAY ONE He tells you very basic directions. He told me to stop. I pressed the break like anybody with no real experience with a car, meaning I slammed it. He started yelling at me for ruining his breaks. I was from then on, scared. I pressed slower the next time and he yelled at me for not pressing it at all. He told me to turn as much as I needed. What does that even mean? Once I got to a crowded street, there was a man who parked halfway in the lane, he told me to stop. I did as he said and he rolled down the window to curse at him and give him the middle finger. As we went along, there were many jaywalkers. He said something along the lines of, "Damn Mexicans. Learn the law. Dumb people. Do you want me to run you over?" We continued, he groaned every time he saw anyone black or Hispanic. The lesson was less than 2 hours. DAY TWO He picked me up and everything was fine. Except it was not!!! He was on his phone the whole time. If not on the phone, he was ranting on how people can't drive, honking the horn, and cursing at other drivers. Less than an hour later, we pulled into a local grocery store. Actually, he pulled in, because I just sat there and learned nothing. He leaves to take a dump and thirty minutes later, he comes out with groceries. DAY THREE I went in the freeway. We went to Berkeley and I hoped he will help me this last lesson. He casually told me where to go and then went back on his phone. I parked. That was it. Barely any interaction. He taught me nothing. No parking, no backing up, no merging. Said I was good enough to be his chauffeur and I improved, but not because of him. You may learn better from a family member than this actual driving instructor. To say the least I will be spending 300 more dollars on driver's training. Dan is completely unprofessional, showed up late to 2 of my 3 driving lessons, and not by 5 minutes. The second lesson he came 30 minutes late, and the last lesson an hour and a half late. He also dropped me off an hour early the last lesson. He was on the phone or looking at his clipboard nearly the whole time (not paying attention to what I was doing) on every lesson. Dan was VERY rude and unprofessional! He lost my number, and my mothers phone number and didn't show up for my second lesson. After calling and asking him where he was he said it was "too late". When he showed up for my my next he said I would have to pay extra and would have to wait another two weeks for another lesson. During my second lesson he also said that I wasted his time and mine when it was his fault for loosing my number and not coming to my door and knocking on it when he was at my house. Best money I have ever spent. I am truly surprised with some of the negative reviews I have seen. He is a very great instructor. I was so lost about how to be a safe driver (semi-insecure about driving) and he taught me so so much. It also really helps that he used to be an DMV tester... (for lack of a better term at the moment.. haha) I feel way more confident as a driver. I took my test today and passed with only 3 mistakes out of 16 I believe. Ask questions, learn from your mistakes, and he will help you work on your weaknesses. 6 hours (he divides it by 2 hours per day, over the course of 3 non consecutive days) was a great investment and learned so much in just that short amount of time since day 1. Do you want a real review?  Not a shill or the few random bad times? Read below my ! I wanted to learn to drive, but didn't want to try anymore because of the earlier teachers who didn't prep me enough because they cost way too much. Why not my mom and dad? Bad friends and drugs are bad mmkay..... Family/friends? 80+ years old or would seppuku/money was no object someone else do it/would rather get out of my life that teach. So yeah. So when my other lady mentor came out of nowhere and told me about a guy who  would for $250 teach me for 6 hours,3 2 hour lessons. Wow. Most driver do 2 hours for a little more than half of that. So the family and i got 3 3 sessions total (9 sessions/$750) total and bought a session for the dmv test as well. (Worth peace of mind) Lessons: So why I first met him I thought he was cool dude, but over time, I not that he wasn't trying to half ass things, or rip me off or anything. He knows his stuff. He has the experience. He is upbeat and honest. He dose teach you how to pass the test,  and to be able to drive by yourself. To put it simply overall, he is the dad you wish taught you to drive. I was actually hearing people who passed as well who would call him we we were taking breaks/between places! And yes, I heard the people on the other end, so he isn't a fake. (Yes, those people exists who do that, that's sad.....) When it was my last 3 to prepare for the dmv test, he got me into ready mode for the test. He got on me but don't worry, it's not that bad, and there's no malice. (I'm thin skinned so that should say something) I learned a lot from him, that's all I can say. Dmv test: Don't be a cheap. Just buy it for your kid or you. Less stress, peace of mind and paperwork. You wanna pass the dmv test? Go to vallejo. Much better than el cerrito. Location! Location! Location! And you will learn to cross a bridge and to pay toll. Remember to bring money for toll! Plus sooner appointments and better examiners. And yes, I passed my dmv first time! (Thanks for lessons family, but really wish you would take me out to a huge empty parking lot and pratice between classes.....) Pro: *Best value for money for east bay. He gives basically a 3 for 2 deal, and he doesn't suck! *He really is a honest business man, and is flexible. *He knows his stuff. *He knows the dmv and the test, and what will make you fail or pass *good banter, but YMMV. Con: *He is a one man, so keep that in mind. So keep some extra time room for driving days. You do that with most things in life, right reader? *You might have to wait a week to see him. If I could write zero stars I would. I had one lesson with Dan and he never showed up for my second lesson. He was completely unprofessional and verbally abusive. I have never driven before and he belittled and berated me. I was nervous and his personality and criticism made it worse. He expected me to know everything about the road but saying "it's okay " if I don't know everything. Two contradictory statements rolled into one sentence. I pushed on the brake too hard and he sarcastically clapped and said "good job dude" I was nervous at an intersection and he yells "am I supposed to tell you to look both ways and go?!" Statements like "you have A LOT of work to do" He made me stop off at his house so he could use his bathroom and pick up one of his children too. In what kind of world is it okay for your personal life to interfere with my lesson? It was the longest two hours of my life. I paid for my lesson and in a haste( and without thinking) I made a second appointment today Wednesday 4-11-18 at 9:30 he never showed up and called two hours later at 11:30. Instead of calling him back I will write this yelp review. Despite getting 5 stars/good reviews in the winter of 2018 DO NOT work with said person. There is no need for such self righteous behavior. Great School for first time learners or just early drivers with confused minds regarding driving. Kind and funny people. Helpful and thoughtful throughout entire sessions. I would personally recommend Four season not just because the prices are low but also due to the fact that they are helpful when it comes to driving lessons for teenagers who want to pass their test. I usually don't write reviews, but I think the majority of the reviews here are very misleading. I made an account just to write a review of my bad experience. I had 3 lessons with him, which were supposed to be 6 hours in total. The first lesson, my father went with me. Dan seemed very nice and engaged in the lesson by giving me advice and talking to me throughout the 2 hours. He even took me to a donut shop and bought me and my dad donuts and hot chocolate since my lesson was early in the morning. I thought he was a great instructor, but I was wrong. The second lesson, I went alone. All he did was look at his clipboard and talk on the phone. He barely said a word to me the whole lesson. He also got frustrated with me when I would make a mistake and it was very discouraging. It was a drastic change from the first time when my dad went with me and this second time. I couldn't wait to get this lesson over this and go home. The third lesson, he didn't even show up. Another guy showed up to give me a lesson very early. Dan didn't even give me a heads up that he would not be able to make it. The new "instructor" was really nice, but he did not help with my driving at all. He barely said any tips and all we did was drive to the next person getting a lesson. That person was not picking up his phone which was not surprising because he was calling really early before my lesson was even ending. We pretty much drove around my house and then back, which was not close to the 2 hours I am supposed to have per lesson. I did not get my money's worth at all. read more

This is my first time writing a review, but I think this driving school is very deserving. However, not for the right reasons. First off, my mother was deceived by all these 5 star reviews. She believed that this driving school was the right one for me. But after experiencing the supposedly 6 hours with Dan, these prestigious reviews are a complete misconception. I don't even know where to begin. During my lessons (even my very first one which was my first time behind a wheel) Dan would constantly look at this phone and clipboard and make phone calls instead concentrating on teaching me and watching how I do. Whenever he needs to use the brakes on the passenger side, we would slam it abruptly causing the car to jolt forward and then basically belittle me/condescend me by stating my obvious mistakes like "Do you want to crash into that house?" Whenever I have an upcoming lesson he is usually late or doesn't even notify me when he can't make it so sometimes I waste time waiting for someone who isn't even going to show up. One time, Dan notified me last minute that a replacement instructor is going to teach me one lesson. That instructor was a lot nicer than Dan however, the 2 hour session that I paid for turned into about 1-1 and a half. During my first lesson with Dan, my mother went with me and he seemed very engaged and wanting to help me succeed in driving. However, my next two lesson I was with him alone. This was when his true colors were shown. As said above, he barely paid attention at all and was very condescending a complete 180 from the first lesson.
