I even referred my husband (then boyfriend) to their services even though he has been doing his own for years. He was pleased with the first year they did his taxes so we decided to use them again this year. This experience was less than acceptable. When we went to pick up our taxes the amount that was estimated for our return had changed drastically from what we were previously told. We emailed Kathy promptly regarding this concern to which she replied that there must have been something that had fallen off during importing them. We then emailed her 3 times following up for the correction to which she NEVER replied. My husband then called the office after having waited over a week for a reply from Kathy. Kathy wouldn't even speak to my husband on the phone and instead talked through the receptionist. Kathy claimed to not know of the issue he was referring to. This was impossible as she had already replied to one of his emails that had outlined very specifically our concerns. If you want someone who stands by their work and acts ethically, think twice before using the services provided by The Bookkeepers. We will NOT be going back and will be sure to tell our story to others in the area so they don't make the same mistake we did. Lesson learned. Professional companies are NOT always the way to go! If I could give them less than a 1 star rating I would because truthfully, that is what they deserve.

My CPA retired so 2024 was my first experience with Army Post Accounting…read more PROS: - The lady at the front desk was super nice - Close parking to the door - Cost was similar to other tax prep - At long last my taxes were filled CONS: -It's an old building that stinks -Tax Preparer (Chris) poor communication (in person and electronically) a) no eye contact when I was across the desk, with incomplete responses or grunts vs sentences. He ignored direct questions as if I wasn't there. Would ask a question then would not wait for the answer. b) Did not review my prior year data I brought c) seemed intent on filling in the blanks as quickly as possible, regardless of if they are right or wrong. I requested several corrections and repeatedly asked him to slow down so I could give him the right numbers. d) waiting days for a response or no response at all to email e) they use a secure document sharing site, good in itself. However, he created multiple new links for correspondence. It made it hard to keep track of which session to use . It would have been better if he kept the initial link throughout the process. f) Refusal to let me review the completed tax forms before filing it, even when asked. The appointment was rushed and disorganized. Most disturbing, I didn't know what information he was reporting on my forms which left me stressed. Issues: After filing, the IRS and State of Iowa sent letters that 1. For overpayment of Fed taxes (a refund was issued directly for Fed) - This really upset me because I shared a concern I thought he was reporting my tax payments wrong. I was right and the IRS caught it. 2. My daughter's taxes (EZ for first job, her one and only W2 was incorrectly reported.) I had to submit the form directly to the state. Maybe it was a one-off but I cannot recommend them. May anyone who goes there have a better experience.

We will not be using this company again after this company messed up our taxes 2 years in a row…read more Both years, we placed multiple calls to them asking when our taxes will be finished/filed & kept getting a "Soon" or "Today", only for us to go into the IRS website that then showed our taxes had not even been filed. Was then told by this firm "Sometimes it takes a few days or even a week for the IRS to show we filed." Uh, no it doesn't according to the IRS, our friends & other past experiences. Only after repeated calls (at least a dozen) did we see movement. From start to finish it took about 2 months to get our refund after they would either forget to submit them or they got pertinent details of ours incorrect. Plus, they told us incorrect tax information. For example they told us if we did business with firms out of state, we'd then have to file taxes with every state those businesses reside in. Totally incorrect! So please, if you don't want to have the major headaches we had with Accounting Associates West, use any other firm.
