I felt compelled to write this review about ER Select, a staffing firm which has an office in Des…read moreMoines, IA -based on an experience that I had with them while I was looking for work (I've since found permanent work and don't need them anymore). I applied to a job listing in early May for a marketing position, and shortly after I was contacted via email by a representative of ER Select, or, Employee Relations Associates. Of course, the first order of business was for me to come in and meet with them. They instructed me to bring two forms of ID, and to dress business casual, which I obliged. I was set to meet with ER Select on May 7th at 1pm. I ended up meeting with Lacey, the director of recruiting operations for their Des Moines, IA office. We talked at great length about my previous experience in Marketing, what positions ER Select had available, as well as what career I was looking for. I felt we had a great rapport, the interview went great, and I was generally excited to find out what positions I could potentially be placed at; after having spoken to Lacey about all of the Wells Fargo positions they supposedly had upcoming. Everything sounded very promising. Lacey stated at the time that ER Select obtains positions pretty much all of the time, but when I met with her it was the end of the week, so I probably wouldn't hear anything until early next week when they usually hear of new positions. I never heard from Lacey, and so I followed up with her a few times; on one follow up, the overall tone of the call was if I was disturbing her, or she was too busy to talk. I got the impression that I probably shouldn't call back to check if they have any positions available. Ever. Lacey told me that whenever they got something in, they would call me. I probably made a total of three follow up calls at most, maybe not even that many. In any case, I wouldn't waste my time with ER Select. It's much better to deal with more professional, well established staffing firms who already have a solid footing in the Des Moines, IA metro area. According to ER Select's website, they've only been around since 2011. This is probably the reason why I had the experience that I did? And if ER Select doesn't like this review, then they need to take better steps EVERY TIME, and make a reasonable effort to be a resource for a job seeker. I would NOT recommend ER Select to anyone. They are a waste of time and space in Des Moines, IA.

A few months later, I was hired into a full-time position with this bank. ER Select helped me so much in getting me ready for the interview process for this position. Every few weeks, the agent who hired me from ER Select would come to the bank and check-in with me and see how I was doing. ER Select cared so much for me throughout my time with them and I cannot say enough about how much they mean to me. Absolutely AMAZING staff and incredible passion from all of their employees. I swear by this organization and know that you will have a fantastic experience with them. Thank you, ER Select!

She did not push me into any positions that did not seem to fit what I was looking for in my next job and she is very personable. There are several tools and resources to use when you want to better understand your personality,…read moremotivations, and interests. So many that determining the right tools to achieve the outcome that you specifically are looking for is near impossible and certainly overwhelming. Not only does Jen know the tools available, but she also knows what to use and when to use them for her clients. She masterfully determines what you need even if you are not quite sure yourself... even more, Jen has wonderful personal experience in business and life and is a student of her craft and clients. The results I have achieved working with Jen are beyond what I expected. She holds me accountable and knows when I need a softer approach. I wish I had started working with her years ago and highly recommend her services to my friends and family. She is a gem! Update: it's been a few weeks since I first wrote the above. I would still write the same words today but having continued with Jen, I have even more to add. Working with Jen changed my life. Seriously- I like to tell my friends that "Jen woke me up to the life I want to life." She didn't do all of the work but she lit the path and held me accountable for the parts I needed and still need to do to feel how I want to feel, have what I want to have and be who I hope to be. Once I grew up, I felt like the answers to those things would become obvious. They didn't and I became a self help book expert... still am- and podcasts... but Jen brings it all full circle for me. What I actually learned is that I have a career I love. I can change small and even large pieces of that at any time, for now I choose to approach my day differently. I "get to" change my perspective and "I get to" get even more out of every area of my life. Jen is a Leadership Whisperer! The Energy Leadership Index was a great tool for learning and was fast to take and gave me helpful feedback on my strengths and ways that I approach life and work, especially how I handle stress and challenging situations and relationships. What I liked best was that it was very thorough and to the point and quickly helped me become aware of things about myself that were good to have pointed out. These insights and understandings helped me find better ways to handle challenging situations and people in my life. Then I was taken into a room to do a typing test. I was told I would hear something back within a couple of days, crickets. I called and called and was constantly put off. I finally gave up on this place since they didn't bother to get back to me.
