    Chick liver tikka!!! Mouthwateringly fantastic!!!!!

East Z East and west is west, and ignorance is bliss. That is why perhaps people are comfortable in calling East z East a "curry house" or an "Indian". That's like calling an English Restaurant a Roman restaurant and calling Frankie's & Benny's a burger bar (they serve burgers don't they) This is not an "Indian". This is not, just a curry house, yes there are curry dishes on the menu but there is heck of alot more than that. This is a Pakistani RESTAURANT!!! The dishes are influenced by Punjab province of the country. Anyway let's talk about the food. For starter, I recommend the samosa chaat which always gets me salivating instantaneously. The spices are well compromised by softer tones of yoghurt n chickpeas...yummmyy!!! For the main course........ well you will not be disappointed with whatever you go for. Although for my money, the lamb dishes are delightful. The kashmiri nan as a side order is massive and served on a hook. As it arrives feels like a canvas on which you cannot wait to paint, armed with an array of colourful dishes. I have always said it is always about the food, the service has to be atrocious for me to be annoyed. As for price; great food, great atmosphere is priceless. What is the point of a competitive rate on your food bill if you didnt enjoy the experiance nor the food. East Z East is one of the best restaurants in Manchester for experiencing food of the spicy kind. So if the spice is right and you want a feast, check out East z East!!! Yelp on that!!!!!!!!!!!

The many dips for the poppadoms

I had seen this place a few times but only decided to give it a go recently. The garish lights make it look like a night club, but the waiting metal studded sofas made it look chilled. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table so we perched ourselves at the bar. Browsing the well stocked menu I chose a passion fruit Collins for £6.95. For a nice change it was served in a long glass and NOT full of Ice. It was flavoursome and full of fresh passion fruit. A waitress collected us,and led us downstairs with drinks in hand. Downstairs looked manic but the lighting was ambient ..especially with the giant painted Tarje Mahal in the background. Poppadoms were immediately placed at the center of the table with the most condiments I had ever seen. Each dip was flavoursome and unexpected. Starters aside, I dived straight into the fish section of the menu..despite the choice of sea bass, tiger prawns and tika salmon I chose the mixed seafood balti, rice and peshwari naan. Once again these arrived promptly , and was served in a hot curry dish. The fish was spiced just right and there was more than enough rice. There was so much food that the naan bread lay untouched. Overall service was attentive, food tasty and reasonably priced. I would have to try this place again to see if it deserves a five star..

I really like this curry place too. For me it joins Moon and Punjab in the five star curry category. Really authentic Indian food in classy surroundings, and no more expensive than the plethora of average curry houses in Manchester. Situated alongside the river, this beautiful sheek restaurant serves food of the highest quality, with friendly service and good drinks. The sheer size of the menu is remarkable, with almost every conceivable Indian dish available, from samosas and kebabs to tiger and king prawn curries. I recommend the sharing starter for two, so that you can try a few of the different delicacies. In terms of the main meals, the Balti Sea Food is one of the most delicious Indian meals I've had, consisting of Tiger Prawns, King Prawns and Fish, cooked in Balti paste and fresh coriander. As well as an extensive wine list, they do a range of 'Mocktails', cocktails without the alcohol. These are delicious blends of fruit juices for those who don't fancy a night on the lash. This place is really worth a visit. Its won several awards and deserves every one of them.

The concierge at our hotel recommended this place. Probably his brother-in-law's restaurant. This is not an Indian restaurant. This is a Pakistani restaurant, according to our waiter, cooking approximations of Indian dishes, and not very well. Our butter chicken was 50% oil. Not ghee. Oil. Very oily ! Vindaloo was awful. All chicken was frozen. Waiter kept harassing us to write a great TripAdvisor review. Not a chance. I would skip this place.

Well I am not the biggest fan of Indian Restaurants here, the food they serve here is equal to having a ready made steak you get in Tesco. I am used to really good Indian food (obviously because I lived in India for 20 odd years and have a mum who is a fantastic cook) so I have always been very reluctant to go to an Indian restaurant in England. I went to EastzEast for a friends birthday dinner (I wouldn't have gone there out of choice) on a weekend. We had pre-booking so didn't have to wait in a queue and got seated immediately. The place is obviously very well done up and looks quite posh so I actually wouldn't mind going the place if the food quality was good. We ordered for different curries, and honestly all of them tasted the same (not surprised because I have seen this is most Indian Restaurants here). I always feel like asking these kind of places that why don't they make authentic Indian cuisine because I can bet on this that everyone would appreciate this much more. None of them have any good starter, even Indian drinks or good desserts for that matter. There are so many different kind of Indian drinks like Aam Ras, Chas and many more which are really easy to make and feel would be a big hit but sadly none of the places serve these ever! Verdict: Definitely not going back here.

Gaudy appearance but at least the food isn't!

Quite good Indian restaurant, specializing in Punjab Lahori dishes, and in a great location at Manchester city center. My only ding against the place was that it looked more like a nightclub than a restaurant, so I would hope that if they ever redecorate, that they improve the lighting and do away with the gaudy discotheque trappings. Such good fare as they offer should have a more sophisticated ambiance. That being said, the food was excellent, as well as the service. My colleagues and I started off with a complimentary stack of papadum with an assortment of relishes and chutneys, both sweet and savory types. We then shared main dishes of: Lamb Sookha Bunah, Chicken Massala Desi, Lahori Jhingha King Prawns, and Butter Chicken; these came with sides of basmati rice. We also ordered some naan and a couple of vegetable side dishes, the aloo gobi and palaak paneer. The dishes were made "medium hot" (by group consensus!); though for my palate, I did not find it to be very hot. Call-outs to the lamb sookha (tender and flavorful) and the butter chicken (creamy and unctuous). A very satisfactory meal and we were happily replete and relaxed afterward!

In these competitive environs, Akbar's holds its own with its gigantic naans and its flavorful curries. The offal-based offerings, such as maghaz (sheep's brain) masala and chicken liver tikka, are my personal favorites. The maghaz has a creamy, buttery texture and loads of flavor. The perfectly chewy naan is a great accompaniment to both dishes. A steaming cup of the sweet and salty Kashmiri chai is a perfect way to finish a meal on a cold Manchester winter evening (I usually find myself in Northern England around Christmastime).

For example, bookings in small numbers are not allowed, so if your party is less than 10 you would have to wait in the lounge. Moreover, you wouldn't be put in the queue for tables until all the people from your party have arrived! Once they have, you are given a device which will start flashing once your table is ready. For us it took just about 30 minutes (on a Thursday evening), so make sure you have no other plans this evening or come earlier. The place was full, we load to squeeze behind other guests backs - shows how popular the place is. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome immediately. Despite the venue being packed, food arrived quickly, and it was just delicious - couldn't find any faults! For those who feel adventurous, there are chef's challenges with spicy food (I heard you get s free dessert if you finish it- however , can't vouch for this). I have tried a tiny piece of this challenge from my friends plate, and almost cried from the amount of hot spices! Despite the wait, very enjoyable experience, and prices are more than friendly, which is very unusual for the city centre.

Opening a new looking menu it contained the same exciting variety as last time ;). For seafood lovers you can choose from lobster, salmon, sea bass and prawns. For veggies they offer standard veggie dishes to some special Himalayan ones..And for meat eaters the world is your Oyster! We ordered two pints of kingfisher and starters only, wanting to take our time. So two poppdums and daal soup later and we were happy ;) the dips accompanying the poppdums were well made , they consisted of generic mango chutney, lime pickle , raita and a curry sauce. The soup was of perfect consistency .. Potentially a dash more of lemon was required. Starters gone I then chose the curried seabass, rice and chappati. Himself selected the chicken curry. The sea bass was one of the most expensive dishes but when it arrived sizzling on a hotplate I was pleased. On the side it came with a gorgeous veggie curry sauce. The portions were massive unlike some places you go that offer no more than a sliver of fish. Even digesting this with red wine I waved the white flag at half way point. To end we were given segments of orange and the bill. Everything was reasonably.priced, well made and the service attentive. I had the feeling they were offended when we kept telling them we weren't ready to order the main but again we did it so we were not rushed. Honestly try this place I much prefer it to Akbar's

The crispy samosa pastry mixed in with the creamy yogurt and slightly hot chili sauce is maybe one of the best dishes I've ever had.
