Last year, I decided it would be good to start running. I hate running, so I needed somewhere good…read moreto go on colder days when I didn't feel like running in the streets. One of my friends told me to check this place out, which was only a couple miles away from me. She loved their classes (she did Yoga, Pilates, and some kind of ab class) and thought I'd benefit from their facilities, especially the track. Although the Centre has a membership fee for the machines & classes, I was able to use the track for free since I was a resident (at the time). That was all I needed. I loved it! The track was clean and never too crowded. I don't think a lot of people realized what a gem this place was. I went at different times during the day and enjoyed running quietly by myself or alongside my husband (he came with me a couple times). Lockers are also available next to the track with keys. I also walked around the Centre and saw two nice pools, climbing wall, new & clean machines, and several rooms for classes. The only downside is that the parking garage is kind of narrow and you have to watch out for cars coming around the corner. It's hard to find parking sometimes, but at least the garage is attached to some kind of indoor bridge over the street so you don't have to walk across the street. I also came here once for some kind of green festival and really enjoyed all the displays, booths, taste samples, art, and petting zoo! Many parts of Elgin are really run-down but this is one part of Elgin that shines. If it wasn't for the Centre (and the library nearby), I wouldn't have been complete.

Absolutely terrible experience at the Planet Fitness on Randall -- easily one of the worst gyms…read moreI've ever stepped foot in. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is poorly managed. The staff couldn't care less about anything. Half the time they're just standing around, on their phones, or talking to each other while members are left waiting or dealing with issues on their own. If you actually need help, good luck -- you'll either get ignored or get a lazy, half-effort response like they don't want to be there. The cleanliness is a complete joke. Machines are constantly sweaty, trash cans are overflowing, and it feels like nobody ever wipes anything down unless a member does it themselves. The locker rooms are even worse -- dirty floors, bad smells, and clearly not maintained regularly. For a gym that preaches a "judgement-free zone," they sure don't care about basic hygiene. Equipment is another huge problem. Machines are constantly broken or out of order, and it takes forever for anything to get fixed. Even when stuff is working, there's never enough of it. You end up waiting way too long for basic machines because the layout is cramped and poorly thought out. It feels overcrowded no matter what time you go. The environment is just bad overall. It's loud, chaotic, and not in a motivating way -- more like a disorganized mess. People don't rerack weights, nobody enforces any rules, and the staff just lets everything slide. It honestly feels more like a hangout spot than a gym. Customer service is easily the worst part. They make it difficult for no reason when it comes to memberships, cancellations, or even simple questions. It feels like they're trying to trap you rather than actually help you. No communication, no professionalism, no respect for members. For the price, you'd expect at least the bare minimum -- clean equipment, working machines, and staff that actually does their job. This place fails on every level. There are way better gyms in the area that actually care about their members and maintain their facilities. Save your time, money, and frustration -- avoid this Planet Fitness at all costs.

I signed up to take a free class with my friend and Dawn called me right away to make sure I was…read moreright for the class and that I had all the info I needed. I really appreciated her telling me about the socks instead of me having to buy them at the studio. She was very helpful. The instructor Taylor L did a great job and asked me about my injuries prior to class. She had excellent accommodations and remember what I told her prior to class. As a former fitness instructor(and someone who used to hire them) she is an excellent instructor. Her explanations were clear, the class flowed well, and she provided multiple options. I also liked the number of participants in the class. Sometimes it feels so crowded but I feel this studio has the right number of participants. If I lived closer I would buy a membership here. I would 100% pay for another class if I'm in town

I was never a group fitness person, but took a chance on a free intro class. I am so glad I did!…read moreThe instructors & front desk staff are incredibly welcoming. I attribute this to the owner, Molly. She has created a loving atmosphere that attracts the like. There are several types of classes to choose from. The instructors make sure you are in the correct position and using a mind/body connection. I have gained an amazing amount of strength & flexibility. If you are intimidated, don't be. There are women in there 20's all the way to 70's. The clients encourage one another and create friendships. The instructors encourage modifications when necessary and show you what to do to modify. There are celebrations for milestones. There are challenges you can join, it's never boring at Pure Barre!! Seriously, take a chance like I did. You won't be sorry
