Amazing place to dance with such a supportive staff. The instructors are amazing and it really feels like you are part of a family here.

Great addition to the art community, very nicely appointed Center for the arts. Four generations of my family have put on an art show together which includes painted bird carvings from my grandfather, watercolors and oil paintings from my father, pen and ink illustrations from my sister, and pen and ink illustrations from my niece. The staff at the art center is so incredibly friendly and helpful and spent hours helping us put the show together and display all of this art. It's easy to park and walk right into this art center if you are a senior citizen. There's an elevator to take you to the top floor, and the theater is a large size for performances with comfortable seating. Very impressive community arts center located at Ocean county college!

Worst experience ever. I took my daughter there to see if…read moreit would be a good fit. I purchased a Living Social voucher to try their studio. We ended up thinking it may be a good fit as it is in my town and my daughter like some of the teachers. We signed a one year contract. We were told my daughter could try out other classes they offered to just go in or stay if it is the next class offered. I tried doing that and let her stay but she called me a short time after the class was to start and said she was waiting with the teacher and they were closed. They changed the schedule around without posting it. When it came time for the recital there were male photographers in the girls changing area (which happened to be the cafeteria) moms were not allowed back there to help their children but there were male photographers there. Shortly after I found out about this I called to let them know I thought that was completely inappropriate as many of the children get completely undressed while changing and especially with the younger children without having their parents their to help. I was told by Kim (co-owner) that is where they take the group photos and they have used these photographers for a few years. I advised that the photographers can set up in a hall like most dance schools do. Parents were made aware that kids need to be dropped off and parents cannot stay we were never made aware that there would be male photographers in the same room as our children who were doing costume changes. That would never sit right with me and I told her unless parents are allowed to help their children get changed and male photographers are not allowed to be in a room full of changing minor children that we wouldn't be back. A short time later NYC PAC debited our bank account for a full year of tuition. They were very nice while you are signing up with them but horribly disrespectful If you have a problem

A mixed drink with a great pour size, and a bottle of soda was $12 - which is cheaper than most venues considering it was a full bottle and we go to keep the cap and the mixed drink was large. We saw "The Carpenters", which I saw a while back at the Algonquin theater. I wanted to see the show again because it was so good, but this show was like listening to the B-side of a 45. I can't even tell you how disappointed I was that they didn't play many hits. She sang covers from other artists and not so popular hits. I personally found it strange the way the show began with the guy running the strand, coming on stage with a piece of paper talking, and then having us stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. I have no problems saying the Pledge of Allegiance, but I just found the whole thing odd. I've never gone to any other musical event or show where they had everyone stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the event. I also had a rude person seating us. I thought I had bought center orchestra, but it turned out that I bought center tier and when I told him I just wanted to look at my phone to verify what I had purchased because I thought my tickets were wrong. He got nasty with me and told me that's what your ticket said that's what you bought and I told him to just give me a minute so I could just look it up on my phone to verify and it wasn't like he had anything else to do or he was seating anyone else I didn't ask him to wait with me. I understood that my tickets were for the tier, but before I climb the stairs to the top, I wanted to make sure that I got the correct tickets from Will call, but instead of just letting me be, he felt the need to argue with me when there was no argument to be had, and him finally walking away, saying whatever. Other than him all the other people working there were great. This was just one experience but normally I never have any problems there.

I will say that going into this, I was a bit uncertain with the value we would get for our money…read more We found Society Performers Academy through an IG ad that looked like an audition to get your kid on Network TV. Yes, it was an audition, but the audition is to determine whether your kid has what it takes to join their academy and train to become true performers. Our initial interface felt like we might be getting suckered into an MLM or timeshare scam, but IT WAS NOT. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL that we stuck it out with SPA. That experience only improved once meeting Joe Lorenzo. He is the owner and is so incredibly personable. Our daughter participated in an initial course package that included acting classes and a showcase in front of 2 agents. Although she did not get signed at the time, she went on to take additional courses and prepare for SPA's Nationals conference (Society Performers In Nationals (SPiN)). Oh my goodness. As adults we have the exposure to grow our career by networking and attending conference workshops. This is similar to the experience we had at SPiN. After 3 days of intense training, fun modeling workshops, and a dance party. Our 6 year old auditioned in front of 32 agents and casting directors. Not only was she much more prepared, she was confident. She ended up getting 11 callbacks with these agencies. She really liked that she had the option to follow-up with interested agencies and pick one that she felt suited her interests and made her most comfortable. Without SPiN, I highly doubt she would've had this opportunity. Our daughter is now signed with one of the highest acclaimed agencies in Hollywood and is so excited to see what other opportunities are to come. THANK YOU JOE and the whole SPA Team.

In May, I was contacted two days after the course began and informed the representative that I would not be participating because the class did not meet the qualifications I needed for my education. I was locked out of my OCC account and couldn't disenroll myself, but the woman I spoke with assured me she would process it on her end. I confirmed this with her and trusted the matter was handled. Months later, I was shocked to see a charge for that same course. I called the admissions office on January 11th and explained the situation, including that I was unable to access my account or view any billing info. I also mentioned that I was misinformed about the course transferring to my current school -- it turned out to be pass/fail and therefore not valid for graduate programs. I emailed OCC with a detailed explanation and request for help -- and got no response. I called multiple times trying to get assistance logging into my account or disputing the charge and got nowhere. I was completely ignored when I needed support the most. I would not recommend this institution based on how poorly they treat students who run into problems. No one should have to deal with this kind of negligence or lack of accountability

I took online and on campus classes and for the most part they were enjoyable. Professors I met in person were great, knew their subject and we're passionate about it. Class sizes were great too. Would recommend it in a heart beat as a way to jump start your education as ether a high school senior or as an adult student.
