Go to many events there. Loved them all. Highly recommend the Strand for great entertainment.

Parking is great- free! Comfortable seats - plenty of room. Easy to climb stairs to the balcony - they are half steps. A mixed drink with a great pour size, and a bottle of soda was $12 - which is cheaper than most venues considering it was a full bottle and we go to keep the cap and the mixed drink was large. We saw "The Carpenters", which I saw a while back at the Algonquin theater. I wanted to see the show again because it was so good, but this show was like listening to the B-side of a 45. I can't even tell you how disappointed I was that they didn't play many hits. She sang covers from other artists and not so popular hits. I personally found it strange the way the show began with the guy running the strand, coming on stage with a piece of paper talking, and then having us stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. I have no problems saying the Pledge of Allegiance, but I just found the whole thing odd. I've never gone to any other musical event or show where they had everyone stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the event. I also had a rude person seating us. I thought I had bought center orchestra, but it turned out that I bought center tier and when I told him I just wanted to look at my phone to verify what I had purchased because I thought my tickets were wrong. He got nasty with me and told me that's what your ticket said that's what you bought and I told him to just give me a minute so I could just look it up on my phone to verify and it wasn't like he had anything else to do or he was seating anyone else I didn't ask him to wait with me. I understood that my tickets were for the tier, but before I climb the stairs to the top, I wanted to make sure that I got the correct tickets from Will call, but instead of just letting me be, he felt the need to argue with me when there was no argument to be had, and him finally walking away, saying whatever. Other than him all the other people working there were great. This was just one experience but normally I never have any problems there. read more

Since 1922 the Strand has been entertaining folks in the area. Despite all the changes in Lakewood the Strand still stands as a majestic, beautifully adorned, and fabulous venue for concerts and small events with seating around a thousand. Once inside before the show even begins you have to look around and take in the whole experience of the Strand, with it's walls adorned with floral patterns and gilded paint and the knowledge that vaudeville stars performed here well before the advent of television. We had excellent seats (third row center) and totally enjoyed the Strawbs concert. Acoustics were decent and we were glad we weren't blown out by overly loud speakers. We met the Strand's manager Fran, who was very gracious and gave us a history of this storied theater. I'm through with big impersonal venues. This is the kind of place I want to see a concert. read more

I really wasn't sure where to post this to give it the greatest exposure, but I thought I would start here, on the theatre's yelp page, to let everyone know of the unique and amazing experience we had. Not just at the 60s concert Oct. 1 -- which was, in a word, phenomenal -- this experience had to do with the theatre itself, and the kindness shown by a total stranger that made our time at the show so much better than it would have been. I missed out getting early tickets and was stick with nearly middle-of-the-row tickets -- in our world, a fate worse than death. I NEVER buy tickets that are not on an aisle for many reasons; first and foremost, severe claustrophobia. But the tickets I bought for this show were center stage, a couple rows back - certainly, great seats, but smack dab in the middle of the row. No problem, I thought; it will be fine. We got to the theater 20 minutes before curtain, got our seats, and we were the only ones in the row. Great! Quickly, the row began to fill. A couple on our left, a single man on our right. The seats are, unfortunately, uncomfortably close together. Think airline seats. Both strangers on each side, in addition to being uncomfortably close (we felt truly jammed in), they both struck up conversations with us. We have been so careful during COVID that this all was just too much. No masks, strangers practically sitting on our laps.... just way too much. We made some feeble excuse, got up, and went out to the back of the theatre. What to do? We considered leaving and just eating the $200 tickets. We must have looked distressed because a woman came over to us and asked if she could be of help. She was caring a very expensive camera, so we assumed she was theatre staff. We gave her the short version of the problem, and she immediately said, "Let me see if I can help." She took me by the arm and ushered me through the crowd to the lobby and first talked with one man; he directed her to the box office. I followed. She entered, I waited outside. Long story short: She was able to go through ticketing and got us replacement tickets that were just SLIGHTLY off center, and by happenstance no one was sitting around us -- not behind, not to the side. How she did that, we'll never know. THEN I find out she was not staff at all, but a professional photographer who volunteers her time to such events. In short, SHE DIDN'T EVEN WORK THERE, yet came forward to assist a couple in distress. I will never, ever forget that kindness. She saved the evening for us. Her name is Mona Bagatelle Shenker. Her photos are all over Facebook, as she photographs many, many Jersey events. She is an amazing photographer, and a truly amazing person. We thank you, Mona, for coming to our aid. You saved the day. And the Strand is truly an amazing place for great shows. read more

This theater is still a majestic palace of yesteryear. It's a reminder of the past generations of theaters with its ornate architecture and hugh chandeliers. It's a throwback to the Mayfair and St. James Theatres in Asbury Park. Live acts from all over have played here in some form or another in the past 90+ years. Last night I was a VIP guest of the head manager and sat in a restricted area with drink set-ups and food. But if you do go there is not a bad seat in the house. I saw and Eagles cover band from the 70s. They were quite excellent. The acoustics could have been a tad better. The show lasted two hours and 15 minutes with one intermission. Tickets range from $15 up depending on the act. Alcoholic beverages are served. There is a snack bar. Restrooms are only on the first floor. The theater also caters to weddings, graduations and small parties...prices are determined by how much staff must be present. read more

This beautiful and historic theatre is convenient and has some great shows at reasonable prices. The downside is it also packs a crowd making it difficult to navigate through the halls to the theatre doorway especially upon exiting. Also the seating in the first 2 rows of the orchestra section make it awkward to see up over the edge of the stage if you are not tall; not to mention it may give you a stiff neck looking up for such a long period of time. If you are in the same 2 front rows but to the far left or right there could be big speakers that will partially block your view as the stage is curved. Other than the first 2 rows which need to be set back further all other seats seem to be fine for both vision and sound. I recommend avoiding the first 2 rows altogether but to definitely give this theatre a visit for a surprisingly good show. read more

Went to the Strand last night for Changes in Latitudes show, more like a beach party. The theatre is beautiful, clean & friendly, helpful staff an overall great time. This show offered a tailgate party before the show, sponsored by the radio station WJRZ, well done! Food was great the grills were fired up, yummy BBQ filled the air, the side street was blocked off you were able to walk around outside or venture into the air conditioned theatre for adult beverages. Give aways, prizes, funnel cake too, a summer night of wonderful entertainment & so much fun throughout the show, beach balls, crazy rubber bands! Always enjoy coming to the Strand, plenty of free parking too. read more

Beautiful classic theater. The sounds, lighting and seating is amazing here. It's so much better than the Algonquin theater in Manasquan. They even have a bar set up in the lobby. read more

I went to a concert here last week. The theater is really beautiful and the seating is comfortable and roomy. We were in the balcony, where the view was great. the sound is best in the back of the balcony in the middle. In all, a pleasant surprise! read more
