I've been a member at the Eastside Family YMCA longer than I've owned some of my furniture. I take the yoga-pilates class and I am, by any honest measure, still bad at it. My balance in tree pose has not meaningfully improved since roughly the Carter administration. Nobody has ever once made me feel bad about this. My instructor corrects my form, tell me to breathe, and move on, the way you'd coach a kid who's never going to make varsity but shows up anyway. Henry has played flag football, basketball, soccer, and t-ball here, and the youth sports program runs the way youth sports should: low stakes, high enthusiasm, coaches who are clearly volunteering their Saturday mornings and mean every word of encouragement anyway. I've watched him learn to actually pass a basketball on this court, badly at first, less badly now. The front desk doesn't need to remember my name. My card does that for them, photo and all, right there on the screen when I scan in. Still, they say it anyway. read more

Eastside Branch YMCA - Children play basketball in the gym - Child Care & Day Care Near Me - Taylors, South Carolina

Really great facility. And the employees are super helpful and friendly. The equipment is new and well maintained. Also a good selection of equipment. I would change the location of the swim trunk spinner so it's more convenient. My only other complaint is how do you get from the pool to the locker room without dripping. Otherwise. Great facility. read more

So after the fact it's time to leave a review. Full disclosure, my old job paid for my membership here, and honestly I would be upset if I had paid for this out of pocket. First of all, the crowds here really ruin the experience. I don't want to have to wait constantly to use the weight equipment, especially in an undersized weight room. The sauna and steam room are nice, however. This facility gets two stars instead of one mainly due to their staff, who are absolutely terrific, and the issues I have are not their fault. It's worth mentioning that they've expanded their gym with an outdoor workout space, where you are free to take any equipment you'd like outside with you, which is also cool. Now, to what really made me give this gym a low rating, and I'm not even sure if this is just what to expect at any YMCA, or just this one-the locker rooms. Full disclosure- I am 44 years old and am well acquainted with men's locker room life....but I've never seen anything like this in my life. The men's locker room is nothing more than a parade of naked old men. Like guys who walk around naked almost every time I'm there. Not just while changing, but legit hanging out and having conversations naked. It's gross, and I would have an even bigger problem with this if I had a kid that just needed to use the bathroom at this facility. Old guys: it's not 1965 anymore and most normal people don't behave like this anymore. Stop it. It's gross. 0/10 won't come back again. read more

Great little Y with good programs! Looking forward very much to the planned improvements!

I have been attending the Aqua fit waves at 9:30 for the last 2 years since moving here. I have so enjoyed the instructors. I felt they were certified and knew how to teach the class to keep us safe from injuries. The last couple of months I am now disappointed in saying we have had some that have taught the class where you stretch and move your feet barely getting your heart rate up. That is not a work out! I have been taking Aqua work out classes now for over 20 years, and know when you have a good instructor like Karen, Fran, and Connie, you can come out of the water knowing you have exercised. Vacations and family time are important, but keeping updated people on instructions and mentoring can make a successful program. Please keep the website with instructors who teach these classes updated. Then I can choose not to attend or drive to find out it wasn't worth my time. read more

The gym is clearly old and worn out the sauna room was not hot and the wood floor is broken in several areas, screws are popping out in the benches and I left 6 that were loose sitting on a chair outside the sauna letting them know of the hazard, the hot tub was not hot and has one jet working the surface of the entire hot tub has a funk look of fungus needs a strong acid wash and the county needs to inspect the entire place for violations read more

I try to use this Y as a gym. It's not a great option for that because it is crowded and run down. The other upstate Ys seem to have been renovated and this one desperately needs it. I just spent 20 minutes waiting for a swim lane to open up, it never did. I'm sick of wasting gas driving to this place and not getting to use anything and the time I have to waste because of the crowds. If they refuse to expand, they should start letting people make reservations so they can actually get to use the overtaxed resources at this gym. It smells horrible and if there's a soccer game going on, forget getting parking. Wish there was a better option near me for lap swimming. Oh, also, they decided to close on Sundays without any reduction in monthly fees. read more

I absolutely love the water fitness instructors. I've been several places and seen other instructors but these women clearly know what they are doing, how to use the water to advantage and make the classes fun. Sometimes the classes have allot of people (25-30) but we make it work without a problem. There is an app and a Facebook page where they post closures. Last week they just finished installing a whole new air filtration system in the pool and it made an immense difference. read more

Not much to look at but a pretty comprehensive facility. Good classes and good instructors. Best yoga teachers I've found so far in Greenville have been here at this YMCA (Paula and Brenda). Other instructors are also very good. The downsides of the yoga here though are that it's in a shared space with bikes (so there's very little wall support available), and it abuts the daycare, so there's lots of kiddie noise, sometimes including screaming, which is not very zen. This is part of why I'm giving only 4 stars, and also because there is no towel service, which I don't understand since they do offer towels at the Caine Halter branch. Also the facility itself is a bit small and very reminiscent of a abandoned elementary school. Again, Caine Halter is a far nicer and larger facility but for unknown reasons costs almost exactly the same?! Good for classes, though, and offers an indoor pool. read more

No air conditioning in gym. It is so hot in the summer. Ran down place. Needs updating bad.

Awesome staff! I only used this Y while passing through town for two weeks. I only used the Hot tub. It was definitely on point and exactly the right temp. 15min in the hot tub and I was Golden. I guess I used the sauna as we'll a few times. It was Solid as we'll. They have a nice double sided gym, a daycare, the workout room is a little odd shaped to me. Thy have a huge yoga studio which is used for all types of classes of course. The pool is a very nice size with a 10ft deep section. All in all, a decent Y. I have seen better but I have definitely seen worse. I couldn't ask for better Staff members! You guys and gals Rock!!! read more

Great staff! Older facility but updates are happening. The gym will have a/c soon. I've been a member for years and have seen a lot of improvements during that time. read more

I have worked at Ys. I have been to many different Y's all across the country. NEVER have I been to a Y that even comes close to the atmosphere of this Y in Greer. I feel like this is a second home for my kids and me. It also happens to be one of the busiest Ys I've ever been to. We love it here! read more

They have so much to choose from. They make you feel at home. Great motivational aids too.

What an amazing place of community. The staff and members are truly the best. Sports program is very well run. Volunteer coaches really care about the kids. Love the classes and the instructors are outstanding! read more
