Over the past 18 months, Eastside Bistro has received very few good reviews and severe reputation. However, with new ownership, staff, and above all, a new true chef who was Executive Chef for Marriott Hotels for the last 7 years, East Side Bistro is the place to relax, imbibe, and eat extraordinary delicious food is the place to be in Avalon Park. So if you haven't been here in awhile, you owe yourself a relook and taste of the place. I've been here in Avalon Park for almost 5 years and this is only my 2nd time here! My kid was a super picky eater and didn't like the menu but times have changed a bit so back we are. This is a delivery review. The Kobe Burger uses Australian Wagyu which is definitely beefier than standard ground beef and a bit different flavor than Angus. This burger was topped with Swiss, lettuce, sautéed onions, tomato, and I think sautéed mushrooms. The "problem" I have with so many topics is that it masks the higher end beef flavor. To me, if you're serving really good beef, go easy on the toppings. But I digress. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Overall a very tasty burger and I will definitely come back just for that. The side of fries seem to be twice fried and maybe a touch over done. But still fine. The Chicken Parm was top quality and executed perfectly. The pasta was overcooked but that could be from the extra time for delivery continuing to cook and steam the pasta. So, maybe it would have been perfect in the bistro. Overall, a pretty good experience and I definitely want to head back. One detractor for dine in, for us at least, is this is a very lively place and the music is typically loud. So if you want a quiet meal, this isn't the place for you! Came here with friends after they couldn't help but sing this place's praises. I now know and agree completely with their opinion. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I got the chopped salad with blue cheese dressing. It was so impressive and full of toppings. Unfortunately in my excitement I completely forgot to take a picture. I still dream about how good this was. My husband and a few friends got the Boom Boom Shrimp Bowl, another friend got the Reuben and another friend got the French Dip. All meals were fantastic. They have good burger combinations. Their bacon is really good. I sat outside with my dog and enjoyed live music nearby. Without asking for anything, the waiter brought my dog a piece of bacon, so nice. The food came out fast, not much of a wait. Everything was good. People are talkative outside, dog lovers. Our experience here was ... a bit regrettable. We just came in for drinks on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed because of a game. All the drinks tasted really off. The old fashioned came with lots of ice which watered it down a bit and didn't have the deep rich color I'd expect. The margarita also tasted watery and not delicious-- kind of bitter with no sweet and sour flavor that I love about margaritas The service was also quite slow since only 2 servers were staffed which I completely understand since the place was pretty packed. We have mainly come here for brunch on the weekends and really enjoy the food, and love to sit outside! They have a great selections of mimosas and brunch foods! We have come here for dinner only two times and noticed that the service was slower than when we came in the morning. My husband and I like to support the businesses in Avalon since we live here instead of going to Waterford Lakes. But the staff has been on the decline for over a year. When I call for a today order everyone except one man says "eastside Bistro my name is ...". One man at the bar just says "Hi". I find it extremely awkward. I only ordered one salmon entree but received two, and no steak Caesar salad. And unfortunately the salmon I did wait extra because "the grill was taking too long" was all raw (photo). I wish I knew then before I drove back for the steak Caesar. They will see decline with the Marketplace opening. but ultimately they are hurting themselves. My favorite little secret. I bring out of town guests here and they seem to enjoy this cozy, urban bistro. I had the southwest chicken wrap accompanied by a jalapeño ranch sauce. My family and I go here quite often and it's always really good service. There's a good selection of food and it's always good. I usually get the chicken pasta and I substitute for the shrimp and it was soooo good. I also had one of the burgers and that's as good as well. The pretzels are delicious too. We usually have the server, Bo, and he always go above and beyond! Like if you talking about good service, he is it! I didn't have to ask for a refill, he got us all we needed before even having to ask. The ambiance is great. Sometimes they have a live band playing. Our drinks came out in a timely matter. After our drinks came out we put an order in for an appetizer. For the appetizer we got Bistro's famous blue cheese chips. Very unique and delicious. House made chips with blue cheese Alfredo, and then topped with tomatoes and onions...finished with a balsamic drizzle. It came in two different sizes, half or whole. The half size was big enough for three people. For my entree I got boom boom shrimp tacos. It came with two tacos and choice of a side. The shrimp had great flavor. I got fries as a side, and they were nice and crispy, but lacking in seasoning. Since it was Friday, there was live music playing. Very talented women singing hits from the early 90's. They got the crowd going! The food was tasty, but service was lackluster. There was more emphasis placed on serving people at the bar than people sitting at the tables. The menu has a lot of variety. We came in for our ladies night out. We grabbed a table by the big window so we can see outside. Immediately a server came over, asked how many will we be, we responded five and sat to wait. We realized it we arrived during happy hour, 3p-7p. Also, Wednesday special, $6 flatbread. While we waited, we ordered a glass of cabernet and a sangria, each for $3, nice! Our drinks were served right away. We perused the menu and decided, because of the special we were going to get flatbreads, the selections looked tasty. Since the rest of our party had not arrived and we were hungry, we ordered the Downtown Artichoke Dip, spinach, artichokes and three cheeses topped with diced tomato, served with warm pita or tortilla chips. The dip, chips and pita arrived nice and hot, the pita was soft and chewy and the chips nice and crunchy. The dip was tasty, but I cannot say I tasted or saw an artichoke, lots of nice spinach, but no artichoke, maybe it was super blended But no one remembered to bring napkins or silverware, when I asked, she bought over three napkins, I had to ask for more. The rest our our party arrived, we ordered three flat breads, spinach/artichoke/mushroom, buffalo chicken, classic margherita, all were very tasty. The classic margherita, the drizzle of balsamic took it over the top, as also the buffalo chicken with ranch dressing drizzled. The server, stopped by frequently to ask if we were ok. Which was nice. The other drinks ordered, the cosmos with Kettle, were delicious. Desserts: we ordered 2 bananas foster cheesecakes to share, the flavor was really good. Bananas foster is always one of may fave things. The cheesecake was not too sweet, although the consistency, I prefer much firmer, the flavor was good. Two of us ordered three desserts to go, brownie sundaes, tasted at home, ice cream nothing impressive. The brownie was good. The reason for the three stars, the issue with having to ask for silverware and napkins, twice. And, we waited almost 30 mins for our desserts. Upon server's recommendation, we started with the Buffalo Chicken Dip ($9) which came accompanied w/ tortilla chips & pita bread. This. Was. Delicious! Highly recommend as an appetizer, especially if you like pepper jack. We then split the Bistro Crab Stuffed Shrimp ($17) which arrived with a salad. We chose Caesar. This indeed was just as delicious. The lemon Chardonnay butter sauce really complimented the shrimp. Overall, we will return. I always try to support local places in Avalon but tonight I honestly will say is most likely the last time I visit this establishment. Tuesdays are $5 burger night when you purchase a beverage. When I arrived it was busy on the bar side but pretty empty on the other side. My friend had already been seated. The waitress comes over and takes our drink orders. Drinks arrive and we place our burger orders. We both ordered the same thing but I wanted mine medium well and my friend ordered his well done. After catching up we realized that it was taking really long for our food. The waitress came over to apologize for the delay. I was confused because at this point the place had pretty much cleared out. She went to check and again she came back to tell us that she had notified the manager about the delay. I need to mention that from the time we sat down till the time our food arrived was 40 minutes!!! 40 minutes in a empty restaurant! They has even started cleaning up the side we were seated that's how dead it was. Burgers looked ok. Well biting into them was a different story. Meat had completely no Seasoning on it. Not even salt and pepper. Remember I said that I ordered mine medium well. You couldn't tell the difference between mine and my friends. Actually the meat was cooked so well done that one side of it was completely charred and burnt. I don't know about you but I don't enjoy crunchy burgers. I would have notified our waitress but she was no where to be found. When she finally appeared I explained our dilemma. Her words exactly were "You should have let me know". Ummm what did she want me to do? Come find her and do her job for her? She walks away and we literally hear her complaining loudly to someone about what I told her. I pretty much told her that it was unacceptable to wait 40 minutes for a completely charred burger. She comes back with the bill and explains that the manager will be over. Well I know who the owner is. He may not know me but I know him. Arty walks over to apologize and offer a lame excuse as to why our orders were messed up. While he is talking and trying to offer a solution, the waitress walks over and takes the bill to run our card. Instead of waiting to see what our conversation with the owner is she takes it upon herself to cash out our bill. By this time Arty had agreed to comp one of the burgers. He comes back to apologize to say that she had already run the card. Then proceeds to say the next time we come back to find him or his wife and he will take care of us. No need because we won't be back even if this is the last restaurant here in Avalon. It's sad because this place has declined more and more. It could be such a great place to go but with the lack of service and lackluster food why would I return? read more

Be carful at the Eastside bistro. I was just attacked by a patron because I said hello to a person that said hello to me. This patron said that was his wife and for me not to talk to her. I was shocked because she said hi to me first. This individual then threatened me to assault me and called me several names including the N word . He is of that minority. He should not be calling me the N-word that was disrespectful and aggressive. He got up from his seat and attacked my position, threatening to hurt me and beat me. He then asked me to throw the first punch after he stepped towards me 4 feet. I never called him a name, but I was upset that he was aggressively trying to hurt me. I think that that's disrespectable in any circumstance. The owner of Eastside Bestro mike locked the doors and took him inside trying to protect the aggressor. I find this to be very unsettling. my wife was then aggressively belittled by his staff and him. His staff also got between me and the individual that was threatening to hurt me and never really address. The individual that was trying to hurt me. I have been a patron of Eastside Bestro for 20 years I will never go to this restaurant again. Best brunch I've had in awhile. It may be because of the unbelievable amount of endless quality top shelf cocktails, Bloody Mary bar, mimosa bar, toppings and scratch kitchen cooking. It may have been because of the owner's son. All of the aforementioned made it amazing. Needless to say, us popping in for a quick brunch took our entire afternoon. We really wanted to love this place as it's walking distance from us. We gave it two chances but never again. Our first brunch it was fairly busy so we didn't realize how bad the service was until it took 4 times of us asking for the check and being brought two checks by two separate people, making it clear that there wasn't any communication between the staff members. Our second time it became clear what this place is. It's a bar, not a restaurant or a family place. We even wondered if there's some money laundering going on because of just how strange the dynamic is between the regulars and the staff. There's no waitress so you just get helped when you get noticed or you just sit and get ignored. My husband got a completely different dish than he ordered apparently because they were out of shrimp but instead of telling him they just brought him something else and didn't seem to care that it wasn't what he ordered. My meal was missing gravy which I wanted but I didn't ask for them to fix it because we were so often ignored I figured I wouldn't get my food ever at that point. When my husband told them to adjust the check for what he ordered (less expensive) she brought us two different checks without making the change. Eventually she just took off his meal which they should've from the start. The food is not that good to tolerate the service. Not to mention it's kind of gross in there. The first time there was dried mustard on the wall next to us and our final time the bathroom floor was so slippery my feet would move just standing trying to wash my hands. Not worth your time or money. It's a shame it's taking up space in Avalon when I know many of the residents would love more walkable spots for brunch read more

WOW! I cannot express how impressed we were with Eastside Bistro. Last week, we ordered two dozen wings; and, pretzels for curbside pickup. We didn't do the contactless pickup Instead I went in to pay with a credit card; and, picked up the neatly bagged goodies. I also purchased a bottle of Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition, which turned out to be an exceptional choice; and, a bargain price. Absolutely the worst customer service of anywhere I have ever been! We ordered carry-out and received an email with the time to pick it up. Fifteen minutes after that time, we were told it would be another 20 minutes. Thirty-five minutes later, still no food. We asked to speak to a manager. We were told they could not give us a refund (by that point we were ready to leave without the food) and would not even refund the 20% tip we had left online. Waited a total of 70 minutes past the pickup time. The food finally arrived at home almost two hours after the order was placed, and part of the food was cold since two of the three bags were brought to us a good 10 minutes before the final bag. To make matters worse, one of the orders wasn't right. So for the pleasure of having more than an hour of our time wasted, I got to pay for not only the food but an $18 tip. The Bistro is always just ok for me. Not amazing, not bad. Always just there, convieneient for me and I've anticipated it's going to be a while when I go. I plan to go when I have time to chat, want to catch up with friends, or don't need to be anywhere fast. That being said, they are always understaffed, wether there are two people working or five, the service is always slow. The food is better than average and fairly priced. I haven't had anything I didn't like. From Easter brunch, happy hour, Sunday brunch, dinner or lunch. They have plenty of options, a spacious and comfortable atmosphere and ample seating. Just stopped by for my first time. Such a fun place! The lake outside is gorgeous and relaxing. Went on a weekend and had the pierogies. Absolutely delicious. Cooked well, lots of onions, perfect amount of butter (this is coming from someone who is Polish). They're listed as an appetizer but are very filling and were my entire meal. I sat outside and enjoyed the outdoor and my drinks we had 4 glasses of sangria which they are good and one margarita with on the house tequila and the east side nachos which it was pretty good portion for three people. The tab was only $36 on a Saturday night just saying! It's worth it the only reason why I gave 4 stars is because i was sitting outside so a whole soccer team between age 5-10 decided to sit next to us so of course we are trying to be adults and the kids were running around pushing my chair etc. Everytime I come here I get great service that's why I love boue he's great his service is amazing read more

Decided to visit Eastside Bistro on a Sunday for brunch. I had driven by and seen the signs about their Sunday brunch and bottomless mimosas so I had high expectations. Got there a little before noon and sat at a booth while my friend and her daughter got there. I had to flag down a waitress after waiting for a bit but have to say that after that the wait staff was super nice although at times a little slow but I'm betting it was because it was busy. The bottomless mimosas are $15 and they give you a selection from sweet or brut. Then they have a bar for you to choose the juice and fruit you want in your glass. They serve them in huge glasses which I had never seen before. For the mimosas I had ordered brut and then they switched it to sweet which I am not a fan of. We started off bumpy and unfortunately it stayed that way. The child's food came out pretty quick but ours took forever even though we had only order burgers. I had ordered sweet potato fries and a lot of them were undercooked. The turkey burger was okay but I had to ask for lettuce since it liked something to make it better, it helped. My friends veggie burger was okay. Unfortunately after I left I had a stomach ache for the rest of the day. All in all the waitress was super nice but everything else was meh. I don't know if I will come back which is a shame because I like the location. If I do it will probably be for drinks at the bar or outside. read more

I thought it was a nice local mom and pop place where locals in Avalon could meet up and hang out. Turns out the are a nickel and dime you place for anything not listed on the menu. I ordered a hamburger, it comes with lettuce and pickle only, I requested raw onion. They put 4 little pieces of onion and charged me $0.25 just to add onion to a burger.
