The sandwich won, and it was an excellent choice. As a self-appointed chicken-fried steak connoisseur who has sampled them across Oklahoma, I can confidently say this one ranks near the top. The steak was tender, the breading was perfectly crisp, and they added just the right amount of mayo. Nothing fancy--just a really well-made and delicious sandwich. We also ordered fried okra, which arrived before the sandwich. It was piping hot, crispy, and cooked exactly the way fried okra should be. We happily munched on it while waiting for the main event. Natasha provided friendly, attentive service and brought us an extra plate so we could easily divide the sandwich and fries. Those small touches make a difference. The Route 66 décor and classic diner atmosphere added plenty of character. It felt like the perfect place for our final road-trip meal before heading home. Clinton is a little over an hour and a half from our house, and I would gladly make the drive again--especially since breakfast is my thing and that menu still needs to be explored!
