If you are looking for a place that goes beyond just physical techniques, this is it. Kovar's focuses heavily on building character and self-discipline. Over the past year, we've seen a massive boost in our child's confidence, which has translated into how they carry themselves outside of the dojo. One of the most valuable aspects of the program is the emphasis on anti-bullying. The instructors don't just teach kids how to protect themselves; they teach them the importance of standing up for others and de-escalating situations with integrity. The teachers are phenomenal--they are patient, encouraging, and truly know how to engage with younger children to keep them focused while having fun. We are so grateful to be part of this community and highly recommend Kovar's to any parent looking to empower their kids!

From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed by the Ohana staff. Jon, the head instructor is top-notch. And I'd be doing a massive disservice if I didn't mention how great the instructor assistants, Miranda, Chris, and Jordan are with the children. They keep me entertained for the entire hour and a half my children train. Jon is stern when he needs to be, but also very loving and funny. He genuinely cares about his students and is invested in their success both on and off the mat. My children have learned so much from him, not just about martial arts, but about life in general. He's a great role model and I feel fortunate to have him as an instructor for my kids. In addition to the great instructors, you get Ivy who manages the chaos that comes with running a business. She is fantastic and a great addition to this already great environment. She's great with the students and always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable. She has a great attitude and helps to create the family-like atmosphere that Ohana is known for. Now, I'll be honest, it took me a few weeks to get used to the idea of my children getting "beat up" in a very controlled way during their training sessions. And notice I only mentioned the "idea" of them getting "beat up," because when it occurs, and it will, I have realized I will probably never get used to it when it actually happens. But I rather it happen with the supervision of myself and the instructors, versus it happening in a real world situation when I am not around to protect my kids. But after seeing how their confidence levels have improved and how much healthier they've become, I'm a believer. Martial arts is not just about physical fitness, it's also about mental and emotional fitness. And Ohana does an excellent job of promoting all three. Overall, I highly recommend Ohana Mixed Martial Arts to anyone looking for a positive and supportive environment to learn martial arts. The instructors are great, the admin staff is fantastic, and the atmosphere is one of respect and camaraderie. So whether you're a beginner or an experienced martial artist, give Ohana a try. You won't be disappointed!

After more than four years as loyal paying customers, this has left us absolutely heartbroken. Our 8-year-old son, who once looked up to this coach as a role model, has been left devastated. He has cried at home, cried at school, and asked us questions no child should have to ask about someone they trusted. The emotional damage this has caused our family is beyond words. To make matters worse, the head coach has refused to take any accountability for his behavior. Instead, the co-owner who did nothing wrong, sent us a half-hearted apology on his behalf. That is not accountability. That is avoidance. We feel betrayed, disrespected, and deeply saddened that a place we once trusted for growth and discipline for our child has turned into a source of pain and disappointment. Parents, please think twice before trusting this gym with your children. The leadership here has shown they do not take responsibility for their actions--or the harm they cause to families like ours.
