The dental technician MacKenzie is the BEST I've encountered over 68 years and countries! She is brilliantly trained, informative, knowledgeable about my periodontal disease and personable. She does my cleaning by hand because I can't stand the machine/drilling. I have barely used/not needed the dentist but he was fine when he checked my x-rays, etc. But this practice must allow the technicians ( or at least MacKenzie) the freedom to gage the patient's level of inquiry and answer their concerns and call in dentist at any time. I made appointments for my husband and I (7) months ago for June 2026 appointment. Apparently the hygienist we were assigned quit, and my appointment was canceled and my husbands was rescheduled for next February 2027 with ZERO notification! What a half ass run office! read more

Last year I needed work done on the same tooth 3 times the last time was horrible Dr Hiers didn't even listen to me when I told him that the numbness wore off he said that he gave me 2 pumps or whatever I was in pain he screamed at me to keep still so he could finished because he wasn't going to stop because he was almost finished I was in tears it hurt so bad he didn't even finish with the floss he just stopped and said not to eat anything hard I went in the lobby then back to him still in tears he said he didn't know that I didn't raise my hand I did that's when he said to keep still so I left in 2 days he or someone sent me flowers the filling came off again so I called and informed them they made me an appointment for free but there was a miscommunication with the staff and the automatic schedule text and then they read me my notes that he put on my last visit that he told me if I had to comeback I would need a crown he never said that to me but who would they believe him or me the nurse in there with us could've said the truth so because of everything that happened they should put cameras in the rooms or record what's being said I read this the other day and it fits my last visit Father only u know how I feel and what I'm going through Please grant me the faith and patience to wait and to trust in You for Ur a just God I went back and what was free I was charged $80 I paid $50 I will pay on it each month and although no one asked I forgive and move on I was a patient there since 1980 or 1990 something read more

I had a full-page list of questions to ask him--many taken from reputable dental sites on the internet--and he calmly and patiently answered every one of them. I had to wait 6 months to get a Saturday appointment. They called 2 days before it and cancelled. The next Saturday available was 3 months away and no guarantees they wouldn't cancel that one either. No explanation offered. Completely left me hanging. Do yourself a favor and find a reliable dentist, not this place. This is the Cambridge Maryland location. I have been going to Eastern Shore Smiles for several years. Dr. Hiers and his staff are simply the best in the business. I had a procedure done and my bite was off as a result. Dr. Hiers came in and assisted with finding a resolution right away. His care, concern and compassion for his staff and patients is top notch. Love having Missy as my Dental Hygienist and being greeted with women who clearly love their job. It truly makes this mom of 3 who wears many hats happy to see the above and beyond and sincere customer service they offer to all of their patients. I am driving 50 minutes away to see them which is at times hard, but I think I would go even further to receive this kind of quality care. My children and I have been going to Eastern Shore smile solutions for years and have always had a good experience. I highly recommend this office. All the doctors are excellent and the staff too. Today at checkout I found out that my insurance no longer covers sealants for my 15 year old and he has them a few week prior. The receptionist informed me of this and it was an error on their part so they wrote it off. I will not have to pay the 80.00 bill. How awesome.... I Began going to Smile Solution in 2012, out of pocket costs were reasonable and the staff was very friendly. After becoming a regular as I had 20 years of dental work to catch up on, I also started getting routine cleanings. That is where my problems started, a routine cleaning turned into a bath as I left with my ENTIRE back soaked all the way down to my britches. Needless to say I refused to allow another cleaning there again. My next problem began, concerning money, my insurance company would always send me paperwork after a visit stating what they paid, the markdowns taken, and what My responsibility was to pay. As someone who always kept reciepts, statements things of that nature, I began noticing discrepancies, where I was over charged. Okay, that's fine, Im sure they will send me a check in the mail as all dentists do if you over paid. NOPE, no check. When I went back and brought this to their attention, they came up with the craziest excuse as to why it appears on paper that I over paid. Like I was stupid or something. I left it alone to see if it happened again, and almost everytime I continued to go I was over charged, on paper, it appeared the office was not taking the markdowns agreed upon by the insurance company. In other terms, commiting insurance fraud. THEY COMMIT INSURANCE FRAUD. I submitted proof to them as well as my insurance, Smile solutions refuses to aknowledge it. At one point they have owed me several hundreds of dollars. Moving on, the dentistry itself is terrible. I had a root canal done, in which I booked weeks in advance, the root canal was started but then I was asked to return to finish it at another time because Dr. Heirs was too busy. Who does that?!?! What dentist does that? I have another root canal and crown that was done without clearing infection out properly, still causing problems. I have 3 fillings to that still cause me ALOT of pain. And when I went for a second opinion, that dentist laughed because they filled dead teeth, meaning I would continue to have problems until a root canal was done. So it appears Smile Solutions either has no idea what they are doing OR they have 100% knowledge of how to keep you coming back so they get rich while they drain you. Now one of these said "filled" teeth are abcessed, and they refuse to see me or give me antibiotics. An illegal practice since a tooth infection like this can be deadly. This place is more concerned with stealing your money, over booking, and getting tax write offs, than the actual quality of care. read more
