He began the repair and initially quoted approximately $350. My sister was surprised by the high price, but because the window was unstable and at risk of falling, she felt pressured to proceed. After about 10 minutes of work, during which he had already removed the window from its frame, the technician informed her that the repair would actually cost $530, claiming he had discovered additional issues. At that point, my sister felt she had no choice but to agree, since the window was already removed and she could not stop the repair midway. The entire repair took about 40 minutes. The parts he replaced--shown in the attached photos--cost approximately $75 when purchased retail. This means the company charged $465 for 40 minutes of labour, which is unreasonable by any industry standard. At the end of the job, the technician requested cash payment, stating that he would "not charge taxes" if paid in cash. This is highly unprofessional and raises serious concerns. The following day, I contacted management to file a complaint. They were dismissive and only provided a receipt after I insisted and mentioned the technician's cash request. The receipt they issued is not itemized--no breakdown of parts, labour, or time spent--despite my request. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and appears intentional. I have home camera footage confirming the technician was present for only 40-45 minutes. I also have proof of the actual part costs. There is no justification for the inflated price, the mid job price increase, or the refusal to provide an itemized invoice. Lessons learned (and advice for others): * Always demand a final price before any work begins. * Never allow a contractor to change the price mid job. * Request an itemized estimate (parts + labour) before they start. * Ensure the time billed matches the actual time spent. * Always insist on an itemized receipt. A vague receipt is a red flag. I acknowledge that I made the mistake of allowing the work to begin without a confirmed final price, and my sister felt pressured. However, the company's behaviour--price changes mid job, refusal to itemize, and a request for cash to avoid taxes--is unacceptable and unprofessional. In my experience, this company's practices are predatory, and I would strongly caution others to avoid them

We contacted them right away to have it addressed. That was over 4 months ago. Despite repeated follow-ups, no one has come out to inspect or repair the work, and we've received no clear timeline or explanation for the delay. A warranty is only as good as the company's willingness to honor it, and so far that hasn't happened here. We'd gladly update this review if they follow through, but based on our experience, I can't recommend them until they start standing behind their own warranty.

They returned my call within hours and made time in their schedule to swing by and assess the situation the very next day. David arrived within the window of time that we had agreed upon. We are still in the time of COVID, so he was masked - as was I - and all of our interactions were outdoors. I have a large dog, and David was not phased. The doggie is usually hesitant around male strangers, but she was very comfortable around David (win!). I wasn't expecting the garage door that day, but after checking out the situation, David indicated he could fix it that day and he offered a quote for the work. An hour or so later, the garage door was fixed and working better, and quieter, than ever! Thanks so much to David and TBC garage doors. You can expect our business in the future :)

We purchased a Garaga door in 1993 from the Door Doctor. There have been two previous spring…read morefailures and each time the service technician came and replaced the springs, only charging us for labour as the parts were covered by the lifetime warranty from the Door Doctor as we were the original purchasers. The expectation is that people will move frequently and the warranty will end. Well, yesterday another spring failed and now the Door Doctor is trying to change the warranty and tell us that the warranty is no longer valid as we did not bring them in to lubricate the springs and rollers. The contract only specifies that lubrication needs to be done, and as the last technician showed me what to do, I have done so spring and fall. Nowhere does it say the lubrication needs to be done by them, only that repairs need to be done by the company. We have gone round and round on circular arguments where they are refusing to honour the warranty. The company that was once honourable has changed under new ownership. my request to speak to someone who would honour the warranty was denied by Service. Why would a company expect me to bring them in and pay full price for their services when they have displayed a lack of integrity?

Main office appears to be in Markham; I am in central Toronto downtown. The main thing is that the technician knew his stuff and was quick and efficient. Work is guaranteed for 30 days, parts etc. for 1 year. Less good: the price was higher than I would have expected (my bad, for not asking beforehand). Suggest you compare prices - I was charged $523 incl.hst, and that included a 'lube kit' for $18 (!) which he said was their special formula. I do feel I was taken advantage of. I am sure the same work could be done for a lot less money.

I started looking for a new front entrance door in July 2025, went back to Confidence because they…read moreinstalled the garage doors for us a few years back, with a good price and no problem install. Spoke to Joe about my requirements for the door. We went back and forth for a few times, Joe is very patient with all my questions, requirements, and provided me with a number of updated quotes after a few changes. Finally the order was placed in late August. The door, with 2 side lites and multi points locking system, was ready, Joe called to confirm installation date. Ken with his installer, along with Joe came on August 6 to install the new door. They did a fantastic job in removing the old door and installing the new door. They cleaned up all the debris and left with a spotless space! In the next day, I found out that the door bottom sweep needs to be adjusted, emailed Joe on this. Within 2 days Ken and Joe came back to adjust the sweep, as well as providing 2 additional corner seala ensuring the new door is tight and no cold draft coming in. Overall, we are very pleased with the service, attention to details, and after install service with Confidence Door. Without any hesitation I do recommend this company to anyone who is looking to replace either a garage door or entry door from Joe and Ken! Thank you gentlemen!
