Did not receive a massage but the phone conversation alone deserves a review. Was planning a trip…read moreto Bakersfield and wanted to set something up for the 28th. She called back and informed us that she would not be available because she will be celebrating her anniversary. (I loved that she called back and not left me hanging) She then gave a recommendation of a fellow therapist and asked if it was okay to give my number to them. Thank you for such great customer service and recommending me to your friend. We look forward to their call. We still want to book Nicole the next time we are in town again from all the good reviews on here and Facebook.

What also stood out to me was that after the massage they used hot rocks, and stretched your body out. Bathrooms were also clean, as well as the rest of the place. I'll definitely be back!

Literally best massage I've ever had in my entire life. Angela had the perfect amount of pressure…read morewhile hitting all of the pressure points. She could tell when massaging me what areas were tighter and needed extra work. She also mixed in cupping into the massage for an extra $10 which I didn't even know they had. Those stung a bit, but she continued to massage which distracted from that. The stretches at the end were the icing on the cake. Highly recommend

In my opinion best massage location in Bakersfield and I've been to quite a few, there's only one…read moreother that can compare however the massage therapist here are very friendly and ask what is bothering you and focus mostly on that to allow you the best experience. The gentleman at the front desk is running that place better than most people I've seen run a massage therapy business. He even takes text messages up into a certain part of the evening after the business is closed to try to fit you in and knows what his opens are within 5 to 10 minutes of you texting them. I would love to gate keep this place to myself but I know that they don't need my endorsement for the great things that happen here. Though I won't gate keep the location I will gate keep my therapist (for now) However if I know you personally message me and I'll tell you who she is.. Overall the only place I'll be going to in 2026 unless something changes.

I really wanted to leave a fully positive review because I genuinely enjoyed my massage. The…read moreenvironment was incredibly calming, and my masseuse, Karen, was wonderful. Unfortunately, the experience at checkout completely changed how I felt leaving. When I booked over the phone, I specifically stated that I would be using a gift certificate. Nothing was disclosed at that time about an additional charge. After my massage, I was told I owed an extra $10 because of the age of my gift certificate. I questioned the charge, and ultimately I was not charged the additional $10, but only after I pushed back and questioned why I owed anything at all. The certificate was purchased in December 2024 and states "4x massages," not a dollar amount to be applied toward massages. Hands of Joy has also not increased its massage prices since the certificate was purchased. What concerned me even more was that after I questioned the charge, additional wording was handwritten onto my gift certificate that had not been there when it was originally purchased or given to me. I will be attaching a photo of the certificate for transparency. Terms added after a gift certificate has already been purchased are obviously not terms the purchaser could have agreed to at the time of purchase. I am away for school for months at a time, so naturally it can take me longer to use a multi-massage gift certificate. Being made to feel as though that was somehow an issue, especially over a gift that had already been paid for, took me from feeling completely relaxed to feeling frustrated and belittled. My biggest concern is for customers who may simply pay an unexpected charge without questioning it. California has specific protections surrounding purchased gift certificates, including restrictions on expiration dates and service fees. I would encourage anyone using an older gift certificate anywhere to understand its original terms and ask questions before paying an unexpected additional fee. Karen and the massage itself were wonderful, and I genuinely wish that had been the entirety of my experience. Unfortunately, the way the gift certificate was handled at checkout, and having wording added to it afterward, left a disappointing impression.
