The massage was OK for typical "asian" place. It was a walk-in basis in early evening as it was unplanned and I just felt like getting one. I don't think the therapist is certified. She was thorough but you could tell she couldn't find the knots to work them out. I would have given 3 stars except for the business transaction style, ie, it was a red flag when the gentleman at the front desk wanted payment up front. As I left I offered a 15% tip and then another manager type lady came in with the therapist and put my tip on the table and asked for $20. I started to pick up the unwanted tip to leave and she then took it. At the risk of sounding bigoted, if this is the normal way of conducting business in Asia, then this is abnormal for USA which is where we live and do business. (Now that I recall, I had the same type of experience last May at Alin's and I never went back.) I start out at 20% tip and then go down from there, and sometimes go up for exceptional service. If you really need a walk-in evening massage, consider Dream on Stine. If you don't mind planning ahead, call and make an appt. at Hands of Joy for the real deal at great prices, and if you're lucky, you might get in on the same day. Like I said, the massage was ok, but the business transaction was offensive. read more
