We came early around 4:30pm to eat our lunch by the river. It was like 500 yards away from the stage. This man would not let us bring our picnic in. It is not worth paying $30.dollars to go to these music venues when they have arrogant and smug people running these festivals. It is better to go on a River Rafting trip and have lunch with the River boat people. They had down to earth attitudes and were extremely intelligent. We really enjoyed this part of Moab.

We are picky and admittedly have an eye for good work. The Tom Till Gallery has some great pictures, all of which are photographs, mostly local, but also ones from around the world. They are quality pieces of art and look stunning in their gallery. Now here's the catch: They present the photos that are for sale in the racks as if they are mounted like the ones on the walls. They aren't. They're just loose photographs (see picture). Not a huge deal but considering the price the customer is blatantly being misled (ie they're overpriced). The elderly female clerk could also improve her PR skills (I had to box and pack our pictures myself because she was bending them to fit a smaller piece of cardboard!) Buyer beware: the photos are not worth the price you are paying in my opinion, but you be the judge. Just know they aren't mounted at all.

Thanks, KYGO, for the four day passes, but after an afternoon and evening filled with good country music (good stuff first) but way too much: sand storms, dust, very narrow drink options (No wine..... really? Only Budweiser products? Aren't we in Colorado?), and not nearly enough vendors to keep a chica busy during the day - listen, we were in the middle of nowhere - captive audience and alcohol... this is a BIG missed opportunity. That said, maybe I'm glad there weren't more options, lol. Overall... big disappointment. If I win some tickets to Country Jam 2018, I think I'll sell them.

Just attended the July 2014 Lavender Festival in Palisades, CO. Garden landscaper, Kathy Kimbrough,…read moreput together a nice half day tour of 4 gardens of the region. We stopped by motorbus and were able to walk at our own pace, ask questions of Kathy, the home owners and the other attendees. From xeric landscaping to a shady garden, we were able to learn and understand more about the diversity of plants that can thrive n the valley. Special lavender laced desserts were offered at more than one stop as well as refreshing lemonades. The tour ended at the Wine Country Inn where a luncheon was served with accompanying lavender wine. The festival also had a day trip to multiple lavender farms with hands on activities at each stop. A pleasant way to spend a summer day.

They charge $4 for a tiny beer and I didn't even bother to look at the food prices... But... regardless of that, the events in the Grandstand were pretty fun. Granted, hardly anyone even cleared their bull ride, and the one 89 point ride was only based on the fact that no one got that far, so that too was kind of a bummer. Still, it was pretty fun to watch. I will probably go again next year, but make a whole day of it, and go back to my car to eat or drink anything.

I purchased front-row center VIP tickets for the Ted Nugent concert in Grand Junction, CO, the morning they went on sale, paying over $500. It was, hands down, the most poorly run and disorganized event my wife and I have ever attended. The logistical failures started before we even walked in. Despite emails stating VIP parking was included, there was no staff to direct us. We arrived at 3:30 PM for the advertised 4:00 PM VIP gate opening, only to find no entrance set up. VIP guests stood waiting while staff frantically put together a makeshift table, and gates didn't open until 4:15-4:30 PM. There was only one person scanning barcodes. Inside, the chaos continued. There were no ushers or security. We had to wander around and count the chairs ourselves to find the seats we paid for. The venue lacked basic amenities, offering only one food vendor selling $20 nachos. Worst of all, there was zero crowd management. Once the show started, attendees from general or cheaper sections pushed directly to the front, standing right in front of us. Because there was no staff or security enforcing seating, the premium price we paid for front-row seats became completely meaningless. It felt chaotic, poorly managed, and frankly unsafe. The owner of Entertainment 1836, AG Gilley, acknowledged the failure via email and promised solutions, but weeks have passed with no follow-up or resolution. Do not spend your hard-earned money with this promotion company. They charge top dollar and deliver bottom-of-the-barrel service.

A small museum highlighting the history of Moab and the unique influence of uranium had on the…read moretown. Most of the exhibits were uranium related. There was minimal focus on the Settlers and the founding of the town. There was not much history telling daily life of the settlers before the uranium discovery. There was barely any mention of surrounding environment and the native Americans relationships to the settlers. Overall, it was a good way to spend an hour to an hour and a half. Admission price was $10 for adult and $8 for Senor. Free parking in front of the museum.

Aside from modern day Moab being a big tourist destination and jumping off point for adventures in places like Arches NP and Canyonlands NP I didn't know much about its origins so I was excited to visit the Moab Museum. The museum is one large room and while you can view the exhibits in any order I found it was best to start at the very beginning and work my way clockwise. The museum starts with the indigenous people who lived in modern day Moab and ends with Moab being central to two national parks and a recreation hub. Missionaries, fur trappers, cowboys, miners, adventurists and dinosaurs were all covered in between. My favorite exhibit was about William Grandstaff. The exhibit called "Tracing the Story of William Grandstaff" traces his roots from likely being enslaved in Virginia to becoming a Civil War era soldier, frontiersmen, pioneer, cowboy, miner and saloon manager in Utah and Colorado. I love when museums leave me wanting to know more and William Grandstaff is definitely someone who'd I'd like to learn more about. I'd also like to hike the trail named in his honor - the Grandstaff Trail in Grandstaff Canyon. One of the best features of the museum were historical pictures of the Moab area that you could scroll through on a tablet. The photos really helped me understand the history of Moab. Admission was $10 for an adult and I felt it was well worth it. The museum has a good bit of reading, some artifacts and a few interactive exhibits sprinkled in so some kids might be a little bored but I really enjoyed it. Kids 7 and under visit for free and students are $8.
