There was minimal focus on the Settlers and the founding of the town. There was not much history telling daily life of the settlers before the uranium discovery. There was barely any mention of surrounding environment and the native Americans relationships to the settlers. Overall, it was a good way to spend an hour to an hour and a half. Admission price was $10 for adult and $8 for Senor. Free parking in front of the museum.

Aside from modern day Moab being a big tourist destination and jumping off point for adventures in places like Arches NP and Canyonlands NP I didn't know much about its origins so I was excited to visit the Moab Museum. The museum is one large room and while you can view the exhibits in any order I found it was best to start at the very beginning and work my way clockwise. The museum starts with the indigenous people who lived in modern day Moab and ends with Moab being central to two national parks and a recreation hub. Missionaries, fur trappers, cowboys, miners, adventurists and dinosaurs were all covered in between. My favorite exhibit was about William Grandstaff. The exhibit called "Tracing the Story of William Grandstaff" traces his roots from likely being enslaved in Virginia to becoming a Civil War era soldier, frontiersmen, pioneer, cowboy, miner and saloon manager in Utah and Colorado. I love when museums leave me wanting to know more and William Grandstaff is definitely someone who'd I'd like to learn more about. I'd also like to hike the trail named in his honor - the Grandstaff Trail in Grandstaff Canyon. One of the best features of the museum were historical pictures of the Moab area that you could scroll through on a tablet. The photos really helped me understand the history of Moab. Admission was $10 for an adult and I felt it was well worth it. The museum has a good bit of reading, some artifacts and a few interactive exhibits sprinkled in so some kids might be a little bored but I really enjoyed it. Kids 7 and under visit for free and students are $8.

Most of it was HAND BUILT by the owners many decades ago. Really cool! But twelve actual minutes to run through it? Really? The docent was nice enough but obviously doesn't care about his job. It was almost funny how he was moving us through as fast as the candy on Lucy's conveyer belt. I reluctantly recommend the tour because the house/history is amazing, but the tour itself desperately needs a new guide and at least double the time to enjoy it. The girl at the front that sold the tickets was a delight: she enthusiastically answered our questions and actually seemed to enjoy engaging with guests.

I bought a gorgeous turquoise lizard brooch and took a brochure for the wind catchers outside to try to order later. My friend and I easily spent an hour inside roaming around looking at the gorgeous things inside - it's huge and has a back room down some stairs with even more furniture and decor. Staff were helpful and friendly and left us alone to wander around and take photos and look - not following us or being pushy and offering help only when needed or asked for. I appreciate that.

It's a very nice visitor center with tons of souvenirs. The center wasn't that big, but organized and clean. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Tons of people looking around and shopping. They have lots of goodies and souvenirs. Restrooms are outside... they have actual little potty stands in a building. So do drop on by and check them out when you're at Canyonlands NPS. Many local businesses hibernate after thanksgiving to give themselves a break and retool or recuperate from the masses that pass through the other ten months of the year. Many hotels and restaurants have sprouted up to support the crazy demand. Surprisingly good food options that are more diverse than typical Utah fate. As far activities, it's all Outdoors! There was serious grant money given to this place, because it is beautiful. There is a super meeting room, lots of computers, a teen area, a massive children's room (and it's away from the rest of the library so kids can be loud here and not bother anyone). This place has won many awards for its outstanding service and resources and very deserving. Came here to see an author speak about Everett Ruess and the library has partnered with the bookstore in Moab. What a great idea! This place is hopping and has it together. I had a solar panel and 4G wifi hotspot with me, but some friends suggested that I check out the library. Wow, what an amazing library! The staff were super helpful and I could tell I wasn't the only visitor poaching the power and wifi. They have desktop computers that you can use if you don't have your own and low cost printing resources. The space is modern and spacious, and they stock Accidents in North American Mountaineering for when you need a work break. I left them a $25 donation, and I encourage you to leave at least a few dollars to keep this place open.

This is a gallery different from all the rest. First and foremost, it is a coop, rather than the…read moretouristy businesses that line the main street in Moab. It is being run by the artists themselves, 19 distinct artists who are putting their souls into this venture. We found a lovely selection of mostly local artists, from impressionist painters, to photographers. In addition to having original works of arts, there were many prints and reproductions available to choose from, from the various artists. We really enjoyed the personal descriptions the members of the coop gave for themselves, their approach to artwork and their love for their work. In the end, we purchased a few photographs, but also found a particular particular painting we enjoyed. And while that painting was unavailable, we found the artist and commissioned a work from her as a result. We found the people running this gallery to be honest, friendly, and thoughtful, and patient with their customers. A very nice presentation overall.

I was dissapointed when I arrived at the Moab Music Festival on 10/8/12 Sat. at the Sorrel Ranch at…read more6:00pm. The music was avertised as "Three Generations Music". It was not. It was a hodge podge of confusing music, like monster movie type. When we arrived we were treated rudely by a man named Andrew in a straw hat. We came early around 4:30pm to eat our lunch by the river. It was like 500 yards away from the stage. This man would not let us bring our picnic in. It is not worth paying $30.dollars to go to these music venues when they have arrogant and smug people running these festivals. It is better to go on a River Rafting trip and have lunch with the River boat people. They had down to earth attitudes and were extremely intelligent. We really enjoyed this part of Moab.
