I was advised then that the standard of care was no need for follow up for 10 years. Great! I developed issues in need of his attention recently (7 years later) and called for an appointment. I was told by the office that even though I was an existing patient because I had not been there in 7 years I would be considered a NEW patient and that he is no longer taking new patient's on Medicare. Being a nurse on Eastern Long Island for 40 plus years and having referred MANY patients to Dr. Ali because of his excellence I attempted to make the argument that I only haven't been there for 7 years because of their direction and asked for consideration. When you are feeling vulnerable and in need of care you want to see "your doctor ". I got no where. I called back looking to further point out that he might see me as a health care colleague, no movement was possible due to this policy. What is going on in healthcare? I have given my life in service in healthcare and can't maneuver it. I can only imagine what those less adept at managing their care can barely stand it. I called my fabulous Primary Care Dr. Giugliano who gave me the name of another gastroenterologist and was warmly welcomed by his staff with an appointment in a weeks time. I saw Dr. Eyad Ali through a referral from a Riverhead doctor. There was a wait of several weeks…read more Dr. Eyad Ali's office charged me a large fee of $300. Up front. I was quite alarmed when Dr Ali did not come anywhere near me, never even touched me, rather, sat behind his desk, asking me to sit fairly far away from his desk, in front of him. He then brought in his nurse (NP) Lynne Villano, which was terribly odd. It was as if he required a witness. He then told me that I was "probably sick", and " You should have your doctor treat you." (Wth??) This was one of the CREEPIEST doctors appointments I have ever had, in my life. This "Dr." gave me no physical exam, ran no blood work or any other testing. He basically took $300.00 cash from me and provided no services.
