I walked in the store at 6:55 all of the carts were pulled in and products were put in the back. Google says they close at 8. I go in and speak to the cashiers none of them replied to me . I go to the back to grab the few things I could grab and the employee literally pulled the curtain down over the meat while I was standing there selecting the meat!!!! I said excuse me are u guys closing early , he says sorry miss and continues pull the curtains over the remaining meat sections . I have never felt so disrespected as a patron in all my life . This store routinely shuts down 30 mins early so I thought I'd be safe coming an hour early . As any fruit market you'll find all types of fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, and nuts. All is sold by the lb at a reasonable price! Pomegranates, honey dew, grapes, cucumbers, apples, mangos, bananas, cactus fruit, etc. Cilantro, kale, lettuce, romaine lettuce, Cabbage, celery, etc. At the front of the store you'll find a section of assorted nuts, and spices and you ask for assistance for how many lbs you want. But you'll also find a bakery and a fast food type of section in the back of the store. They've expanded their inventory and now carry milk, juices, sour cream, cheese, ice cream, shrimp, meat. Not to be confused with that other fruit market in Dearborn, EASTborn is the very best place to shop for produce in the Dearborn area. They have an excellent selection of produce at VERY LOW PRICES! I never spend more than $30 (and that is when I go crazy and buy more produce than I need for 2 weeks). Yesterday, I spent $15 and got enough to last about a week and a half, and my husband and I eat a lot of fruit and veggies. They have a huge selection of not only produce, but also spices, flour, beans, nuts and lentils. I bought a big bag of cinnamon sticks (probably 20 sticks) for $2! I don't like to buy my spices anywhere else. Yesterday, I bought strawberries for $0.99! Cherries for $1.99 a pound! Bell peppers - 3 for a $1! Green onions - $0.25 a bunch! Fresh herbs like dill or oregano for $1! All fresh! If you have not checked this place out, you should, especially if you live close to Dearborn. read more

As everyone knows, there is nothing like a bike ride on a hot day. I was out of tea. Tea is my lifeblood. I drink more tea than the Queen of England. However, I was bored with the usual stuff found in the supermarket, and I had been planning on checking out Eastborn since it is about a mile from where I live. My first impression was that it was a shithole. Ok, the store isnt well decorated, and it has all the charm of a produce warehouse. The aisles are crowded with people who have not one clue as to how traffic flows and how to park their cart off to one side so that said traffic can flow. The Dan Ryan Freeway at rush hour is better organized. The veggies and fruit are well marked, and somewhat high priced, but there are some bargains to be had. Things like watermelon and oranges are way overpriced, but there are deals on cukes and other things. You also would think that since they are selling things BY THE POUND they would have at least one scale in the joint. Not one. As a practicing cheapskate, I like to weigh my things out and know what I am paying, or at least have a general idea. The bulk commodities dept had some nice exotic things like basmati rice for .99/lb and farina for .79, but again, not one scale, and only 1 scoop to be shared by all the bins. Not a problem for me, but I could see other people having issues with this. When I asked an employee about more scoops all I got was an "I dunno" as he went back to stacking the overpriced bananas on a table. The grocery dept has a lot of good things, mostly Mexican and Arabic things. There is a good selection of tortillas, but not a lot of selection when it comes to pita. I wanted some smaller pitas, and couldn't find them, nor could I find anyone to help me find them. Oh well. The dairy dept is well stocked, and they have Guernsey buttermilk, but the downside is that it costs 3.69/ 1/2 gallon which is ungodly expensive, but since it is Guernsey it's worth it. The regular milk IS cheaper than at my local store. The local gets 2.29 or better for half a gallon, and Eastborn has it for 1.89. Not too bad. To sum it all up, Eastborn IS worth the trip even with its crowds and shortcomings. You can find just about any spice you may need plus some tasty baklava, and other delights. I will go back, and yes I did get my tea. which was a bargain at 2.99 for 110 bags. This may just tide me over. ;) read more

Best produce market ever. I pass 7 produce markets to shop here. Best value for you money. I am Hispanic and pleased they carry what I need such as yucca, platanos, etc. they have recently introduced a deli and meat counter which allows me to enjoy middle eastern salads I don't know how to make. As well as purchase halal meats I need to prepare when my son- in- law is dining with the family. Wild Wednesday's are even better all items are very low priced. If you could find a parking space. I would wait for one well worth it. Once I parked in the alley ( knowing I shouldn't but was in a hurry) and received a ticket which apparently the owner saw happen he waited outside for me to return to my vehicle to let me know he would be happy to take care of it for me. I purchased an 11 pound box of Bard Valley fresh medjool dates from this market. Much to my surprise, when I lifted the box cover at home, I found that aproximately 4 out of the 11 pounds of dates were switched for a cheaper quality dates. The original dates are large in size have pits and are very soft, and sweet. The cheaper ones mixed in, were pitted, smaller in size and dry. I live too far to drive back and return the box but will never buy dates from there again. read more
