Home2 Suites by Hilton Grand Blanc Flint - Guest room

I'd say it is about a 3.5 star experience for right now, however, I'm rooting for them…read more Typically, I receive early check-in, however by 3pm I didn't had not received notification that my room was ready. I arrived about 3:15 and my preselected room was not ready. After waiting in the lobby for an hour, (?) the Manager decided to give me a different room to end my waiting. During my wait I learned that the wifi was down for the day and observed several other people approach the front desk with a variety of issues. I choose to belive that it was all eventually satisfactorily remedied but I don't truly know. The EXTRAS The hotel is equipped with a digital key to allow for check in and going straight to your room. Thisc feature was not working for me. Also, Check-out via the app was not working for me either. I had to stop by the desk to check out. There is both free and pay-for-use wifi. I didn't experience any other issues with connectivity on the free wifi with the exception of wifi being down on arrival day. Breakfast was served daily. Guests were anle to come down during the 6am to 9am breakfast window. We had the option to dine in the gathering space or return to our rooms. Options include hot breakfast sandwiches, cereals, boiled eggs, muffins, breakfast bars, etc. THE HOTEL This small, 3-story building is still fairly new and filled with bright colors and lights consistent with the brand. The lobby/lounge area is an open concept design filled with a couple tables for dining, seating, tvs and business center library. The business center is two computers and printer on the side of the lounge area.  The printer was said to not be working the day I checked in. The fitness center is accessible via key 24-7. It has a decent selecting of machines and weights. I was able to use it several times without any issues. The hotel provides a complimentary tea, hotcocoa and coffee bar for guests but if you want something more, there are snack and frozen food items available for purchase at the front desk.  There is an indoor pool on the property. I didn't use the pool. During my last full day, the pool was closed...another guest informed me that someone had pooped in it - thus it was closed for cleaning. They provide a small coin operated laundry area comprised of 2 washers and 2 dryers. Laundry detergent and fabric softner products were available gratis the laundry area. I was able to use these facilities without any issues. THE ROOMS The King Suite is very spacious and complete with everything you need for a studio apartment-like experience.  The kitchenette has a full size dishwasher, microwave, 2 cup coffee maker, sink and apartment sized refrigerator.  Coffee, tea, sweetners, plates, bowls, mugs, strainers, cookware, glasses and silverware are provided. The lounge area of the room includes a desk, a table that neatly tucked away under the desk, a queen sofa sleeper and large tv. A single dresser that doubles as the tv stand. The sleeping area includes a comfortable king bed, closet space with hangers, iron and ironing board.  The shower-only bathroom is a respectable size, not too small and not too large.  I found the 1 drawers to be sufficient storage. THE LOCATION  Not much is within immediate walking distance except 2 other hotels, a credit union, a BMW dealership and a taco bell. One plus is that I-75 is very close. THE STAFF The front desk staff were patient and friendly. Housekeeping was by request and I opted out during my stay. I was able to get supplies and swap out trash whenever I found Housekeeping in the hallway. I was also able to collect clean towels and linen from the desk during the hours when Housekeeping was off duty. Overall, despite the kinks, it was an okay stay.

Many Home2 properties are starting to really show their age and this is certainly one of those. If…read moreyou can stay elsewhere (suite style), do it. The couch is ripped (clearly by a dog/cat) substantially on two sides; looks like it should be sitting on the side of the road as a trash pick up. Fridge is not functioning well so water melting from freezer into fridge constantly. Kitchen supplies depleted and really worn. Cleanliness is not the best thing here - (hairs both in the clean towels and in the bathrooms). Front desk staff doesn't seem professionally trained; they were polite but disinterested in any feedback. I travel for a living (as do most of my large company) and will not be recommending this one. Come on, Hilton, you're letting me down!

Best Western Plus Flint Airport Inn & Suites - Exterior

I stayed here for 2 nights a couple of weekends ago. My whole family and I were headed to the area…read morefor the weekend and, after searching for a reasonably priced place that included breakfast and a pool, we ultimately decided on Best Western Plus Flint Airport Inn. We arrived around 5:30 PM and check-in was a breeze. Our room felt a little small with the two queen-sized beds in it, but ultimately that's the sacrifice you make for having two beds. The room had both a fridge and a microwave and felt clean. My main complaint about the room was the bed I happened to be sleeping on, which was definitely slanted on one side. Outside of the room, we used the pool both nights. The pool area itself is massive, with a sloped wood ceiling and a pool, sauna, and hot tub. The pool isn't heated, which meant that it was a little cooler than I would have liked, but my twins absolutely loved it while my wife appreciated the hot tub. Breakfast in the morning was good, with the usual staples such as bagels, waffles, cereal, eggs, and a breakfast protein. While some of the choices were lacking, such as only having Cheerios for cereal, I did appreciate that they had real eggs and not powdered ones. Their coffee also comes from a machine where you can choose black coffee or something a little more fancy like a cappuccino, latte, or mocha. The bottom line for me is that I would stay here again in the future. The price was right, and my family especially enjoyed both the breakfast and the pool.

Worst hotel and room I have ever stayed at- mold, water damage and the hotel door didnt lock…read more Customer service even worse! Reserved a hotel room for mid- June through AAA app because it had a Airport shuttle. There was no Shuttle- first they said it was too late and wasn't running, the next morning they said it ended "yesterday" and it was broken. I had to pay for a taxi and then an Uber. After checking in, I had to walk by a huge blue remediation fan trying to dry out the carpeting on the first floor. When I got to my room it smelled like mildew and it had visible mold on the windows and bathroom. The room was dirty, dingy, and the carpets were damp. I did not want to take my shoes off afraid of what was on that floor. Then when I tried to lock my door, it did not lock. The door was visibly bowed. I went back up to the front desk- they came and checked out the door and room condition and moved me to another cheaper room. When I complained the next morning, they said I had to contact corporate for a refund. I tried contacting Corporate at least 6 times and they just sent form letters offering me $20 for the shuttle service. When I called corporate- they said only the hotel itself could authorize a refund! Lots of run around- and unsafe rooms!

Last week, I inadvertently booked this hotel instead of one closer to my event in Grand Rapids,…read moreMichigan. I was halfway into my seven hour solo drive when I realized my mistake, so I pulled over and began making calls, simply hoping to transfer my reservation to another Hyatt location. I spoke with five different people, including Diana, the manager, both by phone and in person. At one point, Diana told me, "Maybe this is happening for a reason" and "I could've sold your room to someone else," when I was actually crying. While I appreciated her attempt to offer perspective, what I really needed was help finding a reasonable solution. I also contacted Hyatt Corporate by email several times, but ultimately no one was willing to work with me. The focus remained on policy rather than customer service. I was uncomfortable with the idea of driving another two hours alone at night on unfamiliar roads, especially with extensive construction along the route. In the end, I made the difficult drive and stayed at the hotel for approximately five hours, at a cost of $296. What makes this especially disappointing is that I had just become a Hyatt member. After this experience, I have decided to cancel my membership. I have honestly never encountered customer service where there wasn't at least an effort to find a reasonable solution for a customer who had made an honest mistake. This experience was both surprising and deeply disappointing. There are plenty of other hotel chains to choose from, and, surprisingly, I have even found Hotwire to be more accommodating when it comes to changing a reservation after an honest mistake. I hope Hyatt will reconsider how situations like this are handled. Policies are important, but so is empathy, flexibility, and making customers feel that their business matters.

I really can't see myself giving 4 stars…read more The staff is what makes this place. They are incredibly accommodating and super friendly. The lobby and bar area are updated and very clean. The hotel has a pool and a hot tub. Let's get upstairs to the room. It's very outdated. Popcorn ceiling, fixtures look worn, but hey... at least the shower and basin had hot water. The bed though was very comfortable. I'm sad to see a Marriott property like this turn into a Days Inn. But it is, what it is. It is located in an industrial area, so maybe that's the reason the owners aren't interested in investing money on simple upkeep. For people who are driving and have cars, there is a Meijer grocery store right up the street to grab some simple snacks and beverages if you don't want to pay the hotel prices. The staff is really what makes this place. They obviously love their job and were so engaging with a conversation with me. From the front desk staff to the bartender. Oh, did I forget that? There is also a bar onsite. Big plus. You can even take your drinks up to your room. Enjoy your stay! (I'll be back!)
