This small to midsize university is nestled in the mountains of beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona. The…read morecampus is lovely and all of the students that work. The tours are extremely friendly, personable, and knowledgeable!. In addition to the great location, it's walking distance to the downtown area of Flagstaff, which is just delightful. Great shops, plentiful, coffee, shops, record, stores, bookstores, etc. It really has that small hometown feel. :)

Since the massive drop in enrollment (3k) for Fall 2026 and the 250+ person layoff (Summer 2026),…read morethe university is really struggling. It's not just philosophically; it's everything. Instead of laying off administrators, they've laid off actual boots-on-the-ground workers. The president just got a 20% raise. Two percent per year is standard, not 20. Overall, I think the university is hypocritical. Your experience, unfortunately, heavily depends upon your professor, major, supervisor, or manager. Experience is inconsistent across the the board. Their parking and transit is failing. Special events are unsupported. Maintenance and custodial staff are overworked and falling behind. Residence hall staff are overworked. Budgets are being slashed. Morale is really low. If you're a potential student, you'll need to do a lot of independent research to see if attending NAU is a good choice not just for your MAJOR but also OVERALL. Conditions are getting tough. Flagstaff is getting more expensive, ironically. God knows, DO NOT LIVE IN McCONNELL HALL. It's a mess! The electrical system, plumbing, WiFi, hot water, and smoke alarm system are all a cluster. It's also very noisy since they removed the carpeting. Further, the building layout is confusing, the lights obnoxious, and the colors are ugly. It's kind of depressing. So, if you're affected by your environment, I would live off campus rather than McConnell Hall.

This cute little boutique bookstore near downtown Flagstaff - I love! It was so busy over the…read moreweekend (as it should be), and the whole place just has that cozy, small-town charm that makes you want to stay forever. It's quaint, unique, and feels like a hidden gem everyone secretly knows about. What makes it extra special are the handwritten staff reviews on select books. Like actual little love notes telling you why you need to read something. It's way more fun than just reading the synopsis and it feels personal, and thoughtful. They also sell, adorable book accessories, kids' toys, and other cute knick knacks. There's even a small sale section, reasonably priced books, and some signed copies that are clearly marked. It's right by downtown, so super convenient, but definitely try to get there early because parking garages and street spots can fill up fast on weekends. Overall, it's giving cozy, and I truly loved how much personality those handwritten reviews added. It just made the whole experience feel extra special and memorable.

What a nice bookstore! I am really glad that Flagstaff has a bookstore with a diverse selection of…read moreauthors and novels. Pricing for books is what's on the cover/retail and the employees are really nice and helpful here. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the selection isn't as big as I'd like. I found nearly all my favorite authors or authors I'm interested in reading and yet I only found either their less popular titles or 1-2 books from that author (which I either already had or was a sequel to a novel I haven't read yet). I just ended up buying a single book, which I guess is better than nothing but it would've been nice to walk out with at least 3. Anyway, aside from that, it's a nice store and definitely a good place to check out!

We visited City Hall to check on the status of a business license. I believe the older woman in the…read moreadministrative clerk window was Carol. I could be wrong. Anywho, she was amazing. Very helpful, kind, and informative. Thank you for giving us all the information.

So I have lived in Flag for more than a decade. Moved numerous times and have dealt with utility…read morecompanies such as APS, UES, Suddenlink, etc. All have been fine, until I had to deal with the City of Flagstaff Water/Trash utilities. I called in person to try and transfer from my old place to the new place. Doing this with other utility companies was quite easy and could be done online with no problems. City of Flagstaff on the other had, was a bit more cumbersome. I checked the website and wasn't quite sure so I decided to call. When I finally got a ahold of someone the clerk/person working the phone line was very curt and kept cutting me off by telling me, 'yOu nEEd to AcTIVate a NEw aCCounT!!!!' I even tried to get in a question about not having to pay start up fees since I have never missed a payment ever and always pay on time. More curtness from the person. So, a month and a half later it seems all is well, until I get a bill from them from my old place. I call and let them know that I activated a new account and the person over the phone was again, not very helpful nor understanding. 'We're sorry, but there is nothing we can do about it; we don't do transfers and you should talk to your old landlord to pay it. Sorry that the person was curt to you, but we can't do anything about it.' (They really emphasized that they couldn't do anything about it.) It's one thing if I was being a jerk about it or if I dropped the ball with other utility companies and had a history of being delinquent with my payments, but to be told it was my fault when people were rude and unhelpful is just plain frustrating. Especially at a time when money is tight and I live in Flagstaff AZ. City of Flagstaff needs to work on customer service and a more transparent way of transferring services/utilities in town.
