Today April 08 2026 Silver is sitting at $73-$77/oz right now and these things retail for $90-$96 easy. They handed me $48.17 like they were doing me a favor. Wow. Just wow. You get a $1 "Pawn Buck", lol wait wait that's not a loan offer, its a bill, we actually spoke to a customer??? Ok ok heres your imagination participation trophy for showing up with something valuable. The ticket says I'd need $64+ to redeem it after 90 days, highlighted by a big purple-circled $16.25 "itemization of the finance charge" that feels like they just made up a number and hoped I wouldn't notice. Storage fee, doc prep, the whole menu of "because we can" charges. Meanwhile, another buyer on Pacific Ave offered $68 on the spot. $68 vs $48, and zero chance of my coin becoming their new wall mount. This isn't pawning....this is comedy hour with your assets as the punchline. Washington has rules on these fees for a reason, and the $16.25 line smells like it's doing the cha-cha around them. If you're in the olympia area and enjoy losing money with a side of creative accounting, go right ahead. Everyone else? Take it to a legit coin shop to at least get spot prices... You'll get actual spot value instead of this financial stand-up routine. Do better, or at least be funnier about robbing people.

As a non-profit, we rely on the support of our community to keep the program running. Yesterday I stopped into Bigfoot to ask for donations for an upcoming auction/fund raiser. Anyone who has had to do this sort of thing will tell you that it can be rather uncomfortable, and I was, but Bigfoots open handed generosity left me amazed. After I stammered out what we were asking, the shop owner asked what age or skill level we needed and then just started pulling kits of the shelf. "Got any cars, what about armour? How about something for kids? And some tools..." Needless to say, I fairly floated out of the shop, arms full and smiling. When I got home, I told my wife that I am spending ALL my money at Bigfoot Hobbies from now on! Good people, who support their community, deserve the support OF their community. Turned out that Dennis and Dave were both the epitome of customer service. They gladly helped educate me on a wide range of related topics which helped me immensely in both my confidence and trust that this is a great place to do business with. I can't thank them enough for how caring and personable they both were with me today. So if you're looking to buy or sell gold or silver coins or bullion (at least as far as small quantities go, not the big bars and bricks since I'm not in possession of nor in the market for those) I would definitely recommend them and I'll be doing more business with them moving forward. Oh and as far as the review from 2010 by Tyler K. (zero Yelp friends and only 2 reviews), I have no idea where he came up with what he claimed. As for the notion that Lacey Rare Coins doesn't pay a fair price, apparently the guy doesn't understand business - expenses like building rent overhead, or any other expenses that go into it. That's especially important when you compare this company to the flood of "we buy gold jewelry" companies out there who have no longstanding established business in the community. There's no way I'd trust those companies. Just my opinion, of course...

If you have a blended family, a family of color, a mixed race family, children who have experienced loss, or children with disabilities--it is easy to find books that represent your child/your family. This is nice for children to hear their favorite stories read in more than one language, especially if more than one language is spoken at home. My brother bought The Rainbow Fish written in both Vietnamese and English from this store! De Colores Books carries a wonderful selection of board books so kids who are not-so-gentle with books can enjoy reading time. The space is very friendly for small children. There are toys and plush seating areas. For those of us with mobility issues, the firm chairs placed throughout the store are a very nice addition. The adult reading section is also wonderful. The sheer number of wonderful books available in this small space is astonishing! I was very happy to find The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Jame's Baldwin's A Fire Next Time, and Eye on the Prize: The PBS Companion here. My husband loves to look through the novels available in Spanish. Books I noticed that were available in languages other than English included: Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Russian. I'm sure there are more languages! Come on by and ask/look around. This store does not disappoint.
