I live over an hour away from Axes and Archery, so I even went as far as researching other things we could do in the area once we were done that day. I received an email today (May 12th) saying that my event was coming up and to please have guests fill-out the safety/registration form online (copied and pasted from email: "Your Archery event is coming soon. We are "Axcited" to provide an excellent time for your group. Let our "Axperts" know if anything has changed concerning your reservation, and we can make sure your time here is one to remember. Don't forget to wear closed-toed shoes and sign the waiver for each Axe thrower/Archery Shooter.") Later in, my friend pointed out to me that on their website, it said that the Archery lanes were being upgraded (copied and pasted: "We are upgrading our Archery lanes, and in order to do so, all lanes will be temporarily closed. We expect to reopen them on June 1st. Thank you!"). I told her that no one had reached out to me all month to tell me about it and that I just received an email from them today saying my event was coming up, and that it made no mention of it being canceled. But still, I was skeptical and sent them a Facebook message explaining that I had an event coming up on Sunday and asked if everything was good to go, and that I just needed 2 of the others in my group to sign the waivers if everything was still in place. I received the reply "Perfect. You're all set then!". I even asked them about the BYOB policies and continued conversing afterward. Later that day, I had a gut feeling that I should make absolutely sure everything was good for us to drive over there for May 15th. I called and the gentleman who answered said that Archery was temporarily closed, that he was sorry, and that we could do Axe throwing if we wanted to instead. Not only am I finding this out three days before our planned day trip, received an email reminder (literally today) for our time spot and waivers, was told through Facebook messenger that I was all set...I had to find out the cancelation myself through getting ahold of them, because no one called/emailed/texted during the entire month that I had this planned. The only nice thing I could say was that the guy I spoke to on the phone at the end was apologetic and issued me a refund immediately. I'm extremely disappointed at the lack of communication. If I didn't triple check the website, we would have had zero idea that our plans were canceled and drove over there. I'm so upset that the day plans I made for other things to do in the Salem, NH area are also out the window, because they were centered around our Archery time slot. My friends and I didn't make any back-up plans or come up with any other ideas either, because we were blissfully unaware that no one would notify us if something happened.

Three friends and I…read morespent approximately ten hours here one Sunday taking the NRA safety certification course required by MA for gun licensing, and somehow the instructors made it (and by "it" I don't mean just the hands-on shooting range stuff, because of course that part of it isn't dull) something other than dull. Also, when you arrive they cook you a great breakfast complete with coffee that will get you through the morning. For anyone interested in getting any sort of gun license, or in learning more about gun handling, safety, or recreational shooting, Andover Sportsmen Club is the way to go. Do make sure you don't need to refill your car with gas on your way out of North Andover late on a Sunday evening, however, or else you might find yourself at the mercy of your misguided GPS driving through a residential neighborhood, and then rescued by a British couple (bless their hearts) who drive in front of you to guide you back to civilization and, lo and behold, a gas station that, unlike many of the others you've driven by, happens to be open.

There is also a great skeet range as well. oh and i almost forgot about the 24 hour indoor range for all members. there is also an archery range and a 3d archery course that goes into the woods. great staff and the property is very well kept. if your are looking for a club to join and enjoy, i highly recommend Andover Sportsmen Club.

This is my 2nd time here at Artemis and I'm bummed that I did better back then compared to now. I got 3 bullseyes, but not in the same round. Orientation is quick too. Donna tells us about safeties, sign things here and there. (Please come 5/10 mins before the appointed time so you don't waste it doing all this. Afterwards, you get to shoot a balloon, into a cup and just the marker without anything on it. It's so satisfying when you hit the objects too! My recommendation would possibly add 1 extra arrow, 4 is too quick for some of us.

Arriving at the shop I found a densely packed pro-shop that tended toward hunting rigs (which is not a bad thing....it's just a reasonably well stocked shop in need of a bigger space that is stocking what the market demands) and a multi-lane indoor 20 yard target range. The man behind the counter was with another customer but greeted me promptly and indicated he would not be long. (If I had a penny for every gun/hunting shop that completely ignored me upon entry.......so this was a welcome turn.) Noticing there was another customer in the store a gentleman who had been on the line shooting set his bow down, and introduced himself as the owner and shook my hand. He too was extremely helpful, answered my questions and offered some qualified advice after learning the "target/competition" direction I was leaning toward. Basically I got a very good vibe from the owner and his staff and was assured if I purchased my bow through them I would receive a full compliment of expert tuning and fitting services as well as 2 months free access to the shooting lanes. I feel confident that I found the best full service pro shop in the Northeast Region. Lots of places can sell you a new rig but most leave you high and dry when it comes to providing expert assistance with fitting and tuning. Super glad I dropped by Big Al's. Next step is a short appointment with the owner to check a few key measurements (draw length etc.) before we place my special order for a left hand 2018 Hoyt Prevail. If my first impression was typical of their service I'm looking forward to doing business with them. We celebrated my boyfriends 30th birthday by booking a private event and a party table. I called a…read moreweek prior to ask some questions and was able to talk to the GM who was amazing at breaking down all the information I would need (how to order food, how the party table works, when we should be there ETC). The day off, we had Jen as our Ref and game master who trained us and ran our private game. We had a BLAST with her. The team played music that really amped us up, and I really loved that it wasn't JUST archery tag. She ran us through a bunch of different game styles and it kept it very fresh and fun. At the end we were able to have our pizza, a cake I brought in and some drinks. It was overall a really great time! Jen and the team really made our experience really fun. She was clear with the instructions, rules and really highlighted our achievements! My advice to anyone coming in, call ahead if you have any questions because the team is happy to answer your questions. This is also ONE heck of a workout, so just be dressed and ready to run! Really not a "Paradise". After reading a glowing review from "ArrowTrade Magazine" and realizing…read morethey are a PSE dealer I too the 45 minute drive to check the store out. Really was in the mood to buy a PSE Blackhawk. That bow has gotten really high reviews across the board from home-made websites to magazines to Amazon, I thought it might be a less expensive alternative to the "Bear Grizzly" that might be considered the measuring stick for bare recurves in the under $400 category. Well, Archers paradise did not have that bow in stock, which I think should be a no-brainer at that price point, neither did they have ANY other recurve bows in stock (besides three preowned bows that could have looked a lot better if they would at least have put a new string and nocking point on and removed old and worn string silencers, oh, and there were a few $40 kids bows in blister packs). No new recurves, no longbows, no paradise. The lonely salesperson staffing the store was apologetic and said things could be ordered, but I can order through Amazon, really would like to try a bow and give a local store the business.
