This was my mother's first visit to East Bay Hearing Services in Fremont. She needed her hearing aids adjusted to her current hearing level. Robin, the Hearing Instrument Specialist, was highly professional, very friendly and made my mother feel at ease. She also explained everything very well. We had a disappointing experience with East Bay Hearing Services. After a paid hearing consultation here (which we paid $95 for), we were quoted $7000 for the high end Oticon Intent 1. At the end of our paid consultation, I shared that I would do my homework and follow up. When I shared via email that I was seeing quite a bit of pricing variance online, East Bay Hearing immediately dropped the price from $7K to $5K. When I did further online research, and shared screenshots documenting that the Oticon Intent 1 was available for $3399 one place and $4445 at another place, they said they would try to price match. They later communicated they could not go lower than $5000. If they had been willing to improve their pricing even a little (to, say, $4800), as a sign of good faith, we would have likely gone with them (their location and service was appealing to us) but their hard line stance on the $5K (coupled with the fact their original quote of $7K was nearly 30% higher than their second quote of $5K - which they offered up as soon as I shared my benchmarks, suggesting they're regularly overcharging folks who are not skilled at online price benchmarking), turned me off. read more

I worked with Robin. Little bit folksy, but knows her stuff and very helpful. I also left with a lot more knowledge about hearing loss and its effects. I bought Phonaks. One of them was defective out of the box. I called, set up an appt, and they took care of the replacement right away. read more

I think this place is really bad for the individual customer. They don't listen to the customers needs. They don't clearly explain the process of the 90 day. They not be true about their services, which makes me feel that they take advantage of people that don't understand. They do tell lies. read more

When we moved to Castro Valley 22 years ago, I immediately looked for a nearby hearing aid center as I have had a severe to profound hearing loss for much of my life. After bad experiences with a couple nearby companies, I found Scott Holt and East Bay Hearing in Hayward! What a treasure! Hearing aids have improved in 40 years, but even more so recently due to the influences of the tech world's interest in sound production. Because Scott is very experienced on the computer, he is able to put on his giant screen information provided by not just two, but many hearing aid companies from which to choose and then fine tune possible hearing aids for me, and he has worked with technicians at companies to be sure their aids can be useful to my hearing loss. I cannot praise his skill highly enough. He explains how one hearing aid will be of greater benefit to me based on his knowledge of my hearing loss and what each of several hearing aid companies can offer. Today, at my appointment for new hearing aids with AI, he manipulated the image on his screen to decrease to zero the slight whistling heard in one section of the new aids. Amazing! read more

I went to East Bay Searing Services Mowry Ave, Fremont office along with my mother today. We reported to technician that hearing aid is not able to pair with any of the phone as well as tablet. We brought one tablet and two phone. Technician tried to pair with one tablet first but not able to pair, I gave my Samsung S21 phone to pair the device. Unfortunately provided product with defective Bluetooth, office front desk representative don't want to provide any kind of services and referring to insurance service provider clearly informed them not to go with any kind of services. I have seen very poor quality of service in Fremont by this office. I can provide you multiple videos and picture of this hearing aid Bluetooth issue. read more

Scott at East Bay Hearing is the nicest, most compassionate person I have met in the professional fields. He cares about how you deal with the transition from not hearing to hearing (with hearing aids) and walks you thru it over a few months - adjusting your equipment as needed. I have been going here for roughly ten years and I am highly impressed by the display of professionalism from the manager/owner, Scott, Marissa, and team. I first visited the Hayward branch, and thankfully they opened another branch closer to me, in Fremont. I recently purchased new Hearing aids from them after having a problem with my old ones, which were about 4 years old, not purchased from EBHS but Scott was able to help me with that as well as guide me with finding new hearing aids after doing a test in the Fremont office. I have a complicated level of hearing loss, but Scott made sure everything was precise and made sure I knew what was going on every single step of the way. I expressed my concerns here and there but he was reassuring, assertive, and still professional. I did my own research a bit here and there before purchasing aids, but Scott exhibited confidence and assertiveness in his guidance of me purchasing the aids and he knows his stuff, so I trusted him throughout the whole process. After trying the ones he recommended, I ended up buying them and then decided these were the best fit for me after all. I was no longer interested in trying or purchasing other aids I was considering. I am so so thankful and grateful that Scott, Marissa and team have my back!! There is seldom a wait and appointments are not difficult to schedule. He is clear about what is needed and how various brands and types of Hearing Aides work or don't work based on needs. I was in the market for new hearing aids when one of my aids broke and I needed to have it sent to the manufacturer for repair. Scott packaged my HA and mailed it to manufacturer. In the past, audiologists would loan me a hearing aid in the meantime (which is a great way to establish a long-term relationship with a provider). When I asked about trying a hearing aid I was interested in purchasing, Scott's response was "not that powerful (of a hearing aid)." When I returned to pick up my repaired hearing aid a week later, Scott simply handed me the package and said I could pay $300 to the receptionist. He didn't spend time to look or check the fit or ask if I was happy about the repair. (I ended up having to return it again, but I worked with a different audiologist.) read more

Scott is very polite and a very nice gentleman. He works with Sutter health in Castro Valley across the freeway from 580. He helped my father giving him options which would help him. with the amount of hearing loss my father has he recommended seimens Nitro 3MI which was better then the ones he was using and noticed an improvement, my father is now happy and thankful. It was very hard for me to get a hearing aid did not want to admit I need them first of all. I went to a few then I found East Bay Hearing. Scott let me try four different Aids to find the right one for me this was over a few weeks to get he one that was best for me. Then it was the cost issue he worked we me on this and every was great. I have had them now for about a year have had some problems but every time Scott has fixed them . He sent to the maker if he could not. Most of my appointment where done at 7am to help me with my work hours. I am very pleased with the service and the products. In the day and time it is hard to find good customer service I would recommend Est Bay Hearing without any thinking about it. read more
