All the volunteers are kind and thoughtful people. Getting to take all of the Pathways classes and get an ultrasound for free was a huge financial blessing to us! They even have a baby boutique where you can get gently used baby clothes at no cost if you attend the Pathways classes. The classes themselves were so helpful and made me feel much less nervous about becoming a mom. I highly recommend the newborn care classes, but all of them were great! We were so blessed to get to experience much of what the PCC has to offer and will never stop highly recommending them to all new parents. Thank you, PCC, for what you do!

This is an ongoing problem with this practice. We've been coming here for several years now and we…read moredon't have an issue specifically with the quality of care that we receive. Dr. Young and Christa Cavanaugh, PA-C , are fine practitioners that consistently deliver sound medical advice and treatment. This is instead an issue of inconvenience and inconsideration. Upon making an appointment with this group (most generally with the PA, Christa Cavanaugh) - What follows is a barrage of messages that begin sometimes 6 to 8 weeks prior to the appointment to remind you that your appointment is coming. And they usually involve having you click on something to confirm that you acknowledge that you have the appointment. They always request that you come 15 minutes early even if you've been coming regularly every six months or the last time you were seen was only a few weeks prior. If there's ever any paperwork that can be filled out online I always do that just to avoid having to do anything else there. Consequently when I check in, there is nothing for me to do but sit down and wait. I realize that they don't want patients failing their appointments or arriving late, and that they value their practitioners time. (They make a point of stating in their countless reminder texts, that failure to make the appointment may result in a fee of $25.00.) Consequently, when we come to the office, my husband and I are always at least 15 to 20 minutes early. Unfortunately...it has NEVER failed that we have had to wait usually a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes to be seen. There is never an apology. There is never any kind of communication or an explanation as to why she was late or at least an acknowledgment that I had been waiting. Consequently, I usually try to make my appointments early so that I'm the first patient, and even in those cases I've had Christa stroll in to the exam room almost 20 minutes late and I was her first patient! It's just annoying to me that while an office and their practitioners consider their time valuable, they consistently demonstrate a total disregard for mine.

He told me that my son wouldn't make it past utero and if he did he would die within 24-48 hours. He strongly suggested termination. He didn't just inform me of my rights, but he strongly suggested it. He told me that my sons quality of life would be so low that he would never be able to eat, sleep, breathe independently, and that he could just schedule me to come in and terminate. He tried to deter me from seeking second opinions by stating that the only people who could do so are far away. I called him after I got second and third opinions to ask if he still believed in his initial diagnosis, and he told me yes. I had been told by two other doctors including his colleague Dr. Bernard that my son did not have that first diagnosis. I was presented with a treatment option from Dr. Bernard that I pursued. It would entail traveling to another state. Because of the type of insurance I had at the time Kahn told me it was unlikely they'd treat me there. I called my insurance and they told me that they would in fact cover it. By the time they got everything they needed, it was past my window (you can only get the surgery up to 25 weeks). The receptionists at MFM, medical assistant Dawn, and the nurse Rachel Perry at USCF all worked together to make sure that I didn't get in. The nurse Rachel even told me that I should reconsider surgery because my sons condition was too severe, she also tried to talk me into getting an abortion. I'm pro-choice but that decision is mine.Though I understand they have to inform me of my rights but that wasn't the case. I feel it was discrimination because of my insurance, the fact that I'm a woman of color, and single on paper. I feel they thought I was an unfit person to raise a special needs child. My heart still breaks at the fact that I was robbed of a treatment choice that could have been very impactful on my sons outcome. Rewind to my time as a patient at MFM: During my amniocentesis their ultrasound machine shut off for at least a minute and nobody bothered to fix it right away. If you're unfamiliar with that procedure there is a rather long needle in your sac with your baby. Kahn also tried to deter me from getting it. He kept insisting that it wasn't necessary and that I wouldn't get into UCSF. I know a lot of reviews can be driven by emotions which is why I've waited over a year to share my story publicly. My intentions are to open other peoples eyes to the fact that doctors don't know everything. Always seek more! Follow your instincts and don't settle. Unfortunately our medical system is broken and zero consequences were served for the discrimination, failure to treat, and over all horrible bedside manner and communication that was shown to me. In case you're wondering my sons outcome - he is amazing! He's 8 months old now and is kicking his medical journey in the butt. He is nothing like what you told me he would be.He is loved, and love will take him exactly where he needs to go in life. I want to say thank you for this absolutely heart-wrenching nightmare I experienced with you.. Had I listened to you - I would be less knowledgeable of exactly how corrupt and broken our system and society truly is. Thank you for thinking so low of me. My son and I both came out stronger than ever. It's probably hard for you to imagine someone with my sons disability thriving in life. Cheers to you continuing your practice as it if you don't make mistakes, and cheers to me moving forward from this evil place and making it to the other side. I mean it when I say thank you. You've shown me exactly what I don't want my son to turn out like. You've taught me many valuable lessons by simply being the awful people (Medford mfm, Kahn, Rachel Perry) that you are. I hope that you are never in a position where you are treated as poorly as you treated me and my son. P.s. - please stop making inappropriate jokes to families that are going through extreme emotional trauma.

She always brings a book for our child to take home. It has been my experience at other facilities that even if the front desk gets you in your room on time, you are left waiting on the Doctor. This is not the with Dr. Ng. She respects your time and never keeps us waiting while still giving our children the attention they deserve. She takes notes and is clearly up to date and remembers specific details about your family household. I would recommend this facility for your children!
