We had a baby during hard covid times and so were extra careful when selecting a daycare. We considered 4 different facilities, talked to the teachers and leadership, and came during busy hours to watch how the facility works, then talked some more. Shores was the winner for us. The leadership team Ms. Mindy, Ms. Lisa and Ms. Jessica were accommodating on all levels and even waited for us till we were ready to send our baby in. We sent our daughter at 4mo old and got into a class with Ms.Hilda. Our baby wasn't able to do much but after only a week with Ms. Hilda, she started holding her head high during tummy time and not long after she started rolling. She became a happier kid, ate better and started developing so much faster. Our daughter formed a really tight and trusting bond with her teacher which sometimes my wife Mai was jealous about . My daughter even found her infant best friend in the class to take the growing up journey together - something we thought was impossible at that age. Our daughter moved up a class now and she continues to exceed our expectations in her toddler class with Ms. Marisa. They do science, technology, art, drama, craft etc classes and always brings home her projects to show. Sometimes she forgets to say bye to us at drop off as she's excited for her day at school. We are so happy with the service at Shores that we decided to enroll our twins yet to be born. The waitlist seems to be long now so be sure to put your name down as soon as you can!

The curriculum is impressively well-organized and thoughtful--even for toddlers! They also offer fantastic on-site enrichment classes like cooking, art, and Spanish. While there was some teacher turnover back in 2023, things have stabilized significantly--especially in the Pre-K program, where the team has been consistent and wonderful this past year. The admin team is amazing: super responsive, caring, and always accessible. Ms. Deana and Ms. Diana go out of their way to make each child feel seen and special. The director, Ms. Lisa, and our home teacher, Ms. Ana, were incredibly supportive during the private school application process. All the teachers we've encountered are passionate, patient, and genuinely invested in the kids' growth. My son loves his teachers Another big plus for working parents: the school only closes for 10 days a year--yes, only 10! We truly feel lucky to be part of the Shores community.

He's a kid that struggles much more in his development. Ms Mimi showed her kindness and love in helping him develop which means so much to our family!! We can't thank her enough for her support and kindness! We recommended Bay Meadows KinderCare to a lot of our friends. We feel so fortunate that we found this place for our kids.

Bunker Hill is truly an amazing community filled with dedicated educators and parents. It could be…read morea big time commitment for parents, especially for those who are working, but it might be worth it. An important aspect of the co-op is for parents to get involved in the development of their kids, so their kids could feel more secure and empowered to navigate and explore the unknown. In addition to the teachers, parents, and kids also play a role in contributing to creating the theme and making the environment full of opportunities to learn and explore. It may seem like the kids are just there to play but they are actually learning a big deal just by playing. I also loved how there's an abundance of nature at the school (eg trees, trails, creek, mud!). For a long time, my son would get very anxious if I were to leave him to do something, so when we first started he would need to be with me all the time. He would get extremely upset if he did not see me. The teachers and parents were so supportive and often offered to take over my duties when I had to be with my kid. During our time there I learned so much from Teacher Marissa and Teacher Kelly as well as the wonderful 2-day class parents. I learned to be calm and just let the child lead the course. I learned to teach my kid the value of assertiveness. I learned that conflicts among kids could be a great learning opportunity and that the ability to resolve conflict can be learned through navigating conflicts that arise during playtime. I have learned so much to be a good parent to my kid. In every class, there would be a new theme designed by a parent or teacher, and there would be activities and crafts specific to that theme. As a parent myself I sometimes get more excited than my kid to take part in these craft-making activities. These weekly themes present many opportunities for kids (but mostly parents) to learn about different cultures and traditions. How fun is that?!!! The parent meetings /workshops were incredibly informative as well. Bunker Hill is such a special place for me and my son. When we first started he just turned 2, and I just withdrew from school to look after him full-time. Motherhood was an isolating experience for me because I entered into motherhood at a relatively young age and the pandemic kind of exacerbated the solitude. Both my son and I made some friends there but sadly we could not stay for future semesters due to relocation. We joined the school early 2022, and left around June 2022. From time to time I would think about the precious moments that happened during our time there. To this day my son would still ask to go back to Bunker and talk about how fun it was to be there. It's amazing for me to see how he transitioned towards the end of the semester to become a happier and more independent toddler. I'm forever grateful to every individual we met at Bunker Hill.

I don't write reviews but felt this would help newcomers with their decision to choose Bunker Hill. My husband's work team changed to the Bay area, so we found ourselves planning a move in September. I checked online to see what preschools were around the area we were moving to, and found Bunker Hill. I honestly didn't know what to expect as the reviews were either quite old or scathing. The location and clear history of being a wonderful place enticed me enough to schedule a tour. The location really can't be beat, it's basically nestled in the woods in a residential neighborhood! Co-Op style preschool seemed interesting; it looked like I could be more involved and present. My daughter was/is a pandemic baby and was a huge koala (clingy). My daughter's prior preschool at our local school district wasn't a great fit and unfortunately soured her first school experience. They were ratio'd with 1 adult to 12 children and a couple rotating aides (Bunker Hill is like 1 adult to 4 kids or even more adults, it's great!). My daughter didn't get the individualized attention that she really needed there. It felt like a holding pen for small children, and had virtually no outdoor green space. I'm grateful for her past school but it was truly not the right fit. I was determined to find a place that felt like home for my shy, deeply feeling kid. I contacted Bunker Hill's director, Tiffany, and quickly set up our tour. She was warm, knowledgable, and empathetic towards both grown-ups and my daughter. She listened to my worries and my wishes. She really helped my daughter feel comfortable and saw her as a person. I signed up quickly after that tour, and found my initial nervousness washed away after volunteering and meeting the teachers and other families in my daughter's class. My daughter has gone from being completely clingy, and non-verbal in the presence of non-family to being able to talk to other adults in the span of half a school year and being able to comfortably be dropped off at school. She doesn't have nightmares at night after spending the day at school as she did at her old, traditional preschool. Her speech articulation has shot up like a rocket; I think talking to people that are willing to listen and try to figure out what someone is saying has really boosted her confidence in talking. Her teachers and fellow parents in her class have been really supportive of our journey and have kept me updated when she's at school by herself. She loves going to school now! The biggest con to Bunker Hill, is that the building is a bit rustic and some parts could use a facelift. This is pretty much out of the school's control though, as it rents the school area from the church next door. I have no safety concerns about the school, especially with the teachers and so many volunteer parents around! I don't have enough words to show my appreciation for this school, its wonderful and considerate staff, and the amazing parents I have been lucky to work alongside. I understand that Director Tiffany is new, but she is doing really great! Bunker Hill Nursery School has been around for 60 years and I truly hope it's around for 60 more. Cheers!

I had looked at a few options and was honestly ready to sign up for the first one I found that worked with my schedule. Luckily, I received a call from Building Kidz inviting me for a tour, and I'm so grateful I went. From the moment I visited, I knew this was the environment I wanted my son to be in. The classrooms are separated by age group, which allows the children to learn and grow with peers at the same developmental stage. It really shows how thoughtful their program is. During my tour, Lourdes was absolutely amazing. She made the entire experience welcoming and informative, and she continues to be such a rockstar for the daycare. The teachers are just as incredible. Ms. Letty is the best, my son absolutely loves her. She is so caring, patient, and attentive with all the kids.
