I had a problem toilet get completely clogged and I couldn't use either of my 2 bathrooms. I called Earl's because my Mom has used them many times and has always been pleased with their service. I called them at 4:45pm on a Wednesday. They close at 4:30 , so I left a message. The office called at 8:01 am the next morning. The lady assured me they would be here ASAP! The van got here about 10am. Mike and Zach ran a camera and a snake outside and inside as well. We discovered that I just have a poor design in the pipes under the house. They cleared the clog , flushed the line and put in a new toilet I had here. They were done in about 2.5 hours. I will absolutely use Earl's again. read more

I called Earl's for a leak in the shower faucet and wanted to replace the shower fixtures with something more stylish. The faucets, shower knob and overflow drain cover were over 25 years old and in bad shape from the leak. The plumber came out and fixed the leak but refused to replace shower fixtures I had purchased. He appeared to be intent on selling me a faucet that he had on the truck which he said was 190 and he gave me half off. He said my faucet set was no good and I did not want to use it. I wanted to change the shower/faucets due to being old and in poor condition. This was the only shower update I could afford after getting an estimate of over eight thousand dollars for new shower with tile walls and new tub. I now have to call another plumber to change the shower fixtures which will cost more money or stay with the current fixtures which look like a 25 year old worn out fixture. Hired them to fix a clogged / broken main drain,they did half the job,charged 20k,they must have pumped out what was there blocked by the 2nd broken location,so plumbing seemed to work.2 days later,i see them in the yard measuring and told me there was another broken section,wanted another 20k. 40k total for about 40ft of pipe.definetly queens of upselling. After having Earl's out for our clogged kitchen sink that turned into leaky/faulty pipes in August, we thought our issue was fixed. We now have a newborn home and can't wash our bottles in the sink due to back up. No problem, these things happen. I called Earl's this morning to discuss the issue, the urgency and to see if they would make right this problem as it is quite urgent. After initially talking to the surly customer service rep, and having her argue with me regarding the previous services, I was then put on hold and told by another representative, Heather, that they were out for a leak last time, and the soonest they could get out would be Tuesday, sooner if anything becomes available. So not only was the customer service rude, they don't stand by their work. There shouldn't be a tone of hatefulness, rudeness or annoyance less than 30 seconds into a phone call when the nature of their very business is customer service. I hope that I caught these individuals on a stressed morning due to holidays, overworked, understaffed, or whatever the case may be and that this isn't the norm for Earl's. Please consider your expectation of customer care and service before contacting this company. read more

Let me preface this review with saying I've used Earl's several times over the years, and they have done satisfactory work previously, and they graciously fit me in. My main argument? Why didn't they offer what two other plumbers said would be the correct code-enforcement way to fix the situation? I did not appreciate how this situation was handled, and was cut-off by the manager before I could even finish explaining my frustration, and getting an explanation. I called them for water leaking out of a wall light fixture. They came and identified the problem as the condensation pump hose from the a/c, which had somehow been pulled out of the exit hole (it is supposed to exit the roof through a pipe that is tied to the sewer line- but the pipe has been gone). Instead of offering to at least shove the hose back through a hole and having me sign something that said I needed to get this corrected/they can't be held liable for further damage, or actually offering to tie it back into the sewer line, which I would have needed a plumber for (I spoke with two other plumbing companies who confirmed this was the process)- they left the hose leaking in to my attic, which caused further damage (water leaking through the ceiling). They simply recommended to call an a/c repair man and left. A/c repair man came out, shoved the line through the hole and talked to their master plumber about the situation and asked what the proper protocol was (to tie it to the sewer line, which required a plumber). I called Earl's to discuss the matter, I *did not ask for a refund*- I'm happy to pay for them to come out, but was given one after the manager said "I'm not going to go back and forth with you, I've refunded the service fee" rather nastily. I realized I wasn't going to get an explanation of why I wasn't offered the correct way to fix it, so I just accepted the refund. read more

Needed to replace a gas hot water heater. Discovered no hot water at 5 AM. Called them a little after 8 AM. They got to me me and replaced a 40 gallon gas hot water before mid afternoon. I had used Earl's plumbing for the past 20 years, but I will NEVER call them again. First, Lauren, the receptionist, is the rudest person I have ever encountered. She has NO customer service skills nor does she seem to care about anyone. Second, when I did call and tell them that water was leaking from my bricks, they sent two men who insisted on "snaking" the pipe even though they could tell that the pipe was broken. Because the first two plumbers who came could not do repairs, they only "snaked" the pipes, they needed to find a way to make their money so they charged me $200. The second set of plumbers, those who could make the repair, came a few days later. After fixing the pipe, they left a 3" whole in my brick and told me to "just go buy some mortar. You can easily fix it." I was confused as to why I the customer was having to finish the job. Additionally, I was charge more on my credit card than the invoice stated. When I called asking about the difference, Lauren intimated that I was a liar and had been told by the plumber about the additional charge for using a credit card. 1 shower leak and 4 visits later, the shower still leaks. After the first time, they supposedly fixed it, I had the ceiling fixed below the leak. Very disappointed that their inability to fix a water leak has cost me many hundreds of dollars in paying them and paying for the subsequent damages. The 3rd time they came out, they sent their "expert" to find the problem. Now, the 4th time they've been out and they finally identify the problem and tell me to replace the entire shower which is fine, but I'd have liked to know that the first, or even the second time! That said, their technicians are courteous and show up on time. If you use them, make sure you get a guarantee that the problem is actually fixed, then wait to make sure before you make drywall repairs. read more

When we need plumbing work done at the house, we turn to Earl's Plumbing. With an older house, we need someone who knows their plumbing. The cast iron piping and fixtures present a problem for many plumbers. Usually they are there the day we call, or at worst, the next day. They helped us figure out the problem with an add-on line that the original owner installed. Unfortunately, there wasn't much they could do about the bellies in the line that had developed over time, short of digging it up and relaying the line. Once a year, usually around the holidays, we have them clean out that line. Just part of the cost of an older home with lots of trees. read more

Have to make another appointment to fix anything else. made the appointment. But apparently they only have 2 plumbers. An emergency leak. Recently we had multiple plumbing issues, specifically drainage problems .We brought in our usual Plumber who unfortunately came out, stayed for approximately 20 minutes and charged us over $600 to do absolutely nothing. Zero was fixed when he left. We decided that we would call Earl's plumbing because we know of Barry and his outstanding reputation and knowledgeof the profession. Fortunately they sent us Chris,the self-described drain guy. A specialist from Earls plumbing. Chris charged me half of what our usual charges are and fix everything that was wrong. Both of the toilets were plugged up and one with a broken handle, two showers were plugged up--one very badly, the kitchen sink was clogged up and Our guest bathroom sink did not drain. You name it nothing was working. But when my new friend Chris left everything worked beautifully and it still does. I would highly highly highly recommend Earls plumbing and if you need a drain guy ask for Chris. Not only is he professional, knows what he's doing and he is pleasant and well mannered. Scheduled an appointment 2 weeks ahead of time for a Wednesday at 1pm. They called me after 1pm to tell me that 2 plumbers ahd not shown up that day and that they needed to reschedule. I rescheduled for the following Tuesday for after 1pm. They called a 1:54pm 3 times in a row, but I missed the call. I returned the call at 1:59pm and they said they had already sent the plumber to a different house. So now after taking 2 afternoons off of work I am looking for a more professional company. read more

I moved into a home and needed a gas valve installed in my laundry room and have my new dryer hooked up. The valve seems to work just fine, so I cannot complain there. However, the dryer wasn't getting hot and just spun clothes around. The two plumbers couldn't figure out why the dryer wasn't heating up and said to get another new dryer. After a month I received my second dryer, and the same issue was happening. I called another plumber, and he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it in less than ten minutes. Apparently, the valve from the laundry room to the outside was painted shut. Super simple fix and super dangerous to have a dryer running that wasn't properly ventilated. So I went over a month without a dryer because two plumbers couldn't be bothered to check a vent. I also paid to have them check out a smell associated with my guest bathroom, and they couldn't tell me where it was coming from. read more

Earl's Plumbing (Mike) came out to do a video inspection for a house i was looking on purchasing. i went off of their recommendation that there were no breaks in the main plumbing line. so i purchased the property, renovated and am now selling to a prospective buyer. the buyer had their own inspections done by another company who was competent and they found two breaks under the slab. i called Earl's Plumbing back and they basically said oh well and accused me of changing out the plumbing. First of all shout out to Bob and Leroy at Earls plumbing! My hot water pressure was gone, air bubbles and no pressure at all. Of course after googling I was going to need a new hot water heater. Funny enough the next morning I'm driving and end up behind an Earls plumbing van and said well I can remember that number 888-8888. I took it as a sign. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and then Bob and Leroy came to my house. I was in full panic mode because I am unemployed due to Covid so I was imagining the worse being a $1500 hot water heater. They may have been here for 30 minutes but after fixing my hot water heater (broken nipple) I was over the moon excited when the bill was $88. You can definitely trust Earls plumbing to be honest and not try to rake you through the coals during very hard times. Two positive experiences with this business. First visit was to diagnose a leak under my house. They properly identified the problem which was hidden out of sight and suggested a solution for avoiding problems in the future. Second visit was to fix the leak and install a new joint to clean my pipes. Showed up on time and final price was $150 less than quoted. I was shown the broken pipe that was leaking and replaced along with how to self clean my pipes for preventive maintenance. Courteous workers who removed their shoes upon entering our house each time. Can't say enough positive things about my experience. They were able to find a solution that would fix the issue without having to remove landscaping, that would not damage the driveway or sidewalk, etc. They came two days later and were quick, considering the job (4 hours start to finish), professional, and clean - when they left the site looked almost the same as it had before the work was done. Charged me $45 to give me an estimate. Included in the estimate was $400 for bringing my gas vent up to code. They said they couldn't complete the work I called them for unless the vent was up to code. I told them I would consider it and called 2 more plumbers and a general contractor who all said that my gas vent was 100% up to code. They were trying to charge me $400 to change something that would take the average person 15 minutes to do with $30 worth of materials, and it wasn't even necessary. They are either incompetent or dishonest. Either way I wouldn't let them back in to my house. read more

Must be nice to have so much business that you cannot schedule estimates for what could have been a large job. I had the valves in my shower replaced by Earl's on January 12th, 2018. It was necessary to go into the wall to repipe the manifold, which meant that tile work would need to be done. The bill was paid in full after The completion of their work. The plumbers that did the work recommended someone who came out the following day (Saturday) and did an excellent job retileing the wall. I called the following Monday morning, the 15th, and notified Earl's that the tile work was completed, and wanted to get the plumbers to return and put the trim kit in. I was told that they were busy, but someone would be out Wednesday the 17th. I was called Wednesday morning and told that due to road conditions the guys couldn't come out, but would be out Thursday the 18th. Got a call later Thursday afternoon from their office and was told they couldn't be out until Thursday the 26th due to being busy repairing broken pipes throughout the city from the freeze. I stated that this was bullshit, and unacceptable. The lady on the phone (Sharon) immediately got hysterical and said that it was the best they could do. I hung up and called back the next morning and asked for the manager. The man who answered the phone listened to my explanation and said someone would be out that day, Friday the 19th. So I waited until that afternoon and the plumbers came back, but without the trim kit they needed! They thought it was left with me! They left to go to a plumbers supply to get the kit. I got a call about an hour later from Bruce, at the office who told me that they didn't have the part, but would get it and be here on Monday the 22nd. I was shocked but had not choice but to say ok. So today, Monday the 22nd, I get another call from Bruce who says that because they're busy with broken pipes from the freeze they won't be back until Thursday the 26th! I was so angry that I said ok. After thinking about it for awhile I called back, irate, and again asked to speak to the manager. Well I got Bruce again and told him that Thursday the 26th was unacceptable and I wanted it done now. He said someone would be out tomorrow the 23rd. I asked him why should I believe him? No answer from Bruce. I said that I better see someone tomorrow morning. We shall see. Please try to avoid this company at all costs. The plumbers that actually do the work are fine, but the office is obviously incompetent, and will tell you anything. read more

I had a major sink/disposal/dishwasher issue and contacted Earl's for immediate help since it's been a huge problem not to be able to do any dishes or use the sink. They set up a quick appointment for that week and I set everything up to miss work so I could be there as they only operate during business hours. I cleared my schedule and waited around ALL day SO excited to finally clean up the kitchen...they finally called at 4pm and cancelled! We live in Metairie near the lake. All most everyone in Metairie, Kenner, and New Orleans near the lake will have plumbing pipe issues at some point, where under slab repairs will need to be done. We knew we had issues, so we finally met with Cheryl and Erika to discuss the beginning to end of having plumbing replaced, with an estimate. They explained what insurance could cover, what we would have to pay for(ex. pipes replaced past the point of claim) and would handle all of the claim portion for us once we contacted the insurance company. We had Earl's come to videotape plumbing, tunneling, and repair everything under the house. All of their employees are professional, polite, and don't do "shortcuts", etc. We have also used them for regular plumbing/toilet/water line issues. I will highly recommend them to anyone in the Greater New Orleans area, who want a top job done, correctly, efficiently, and up to code. read more
