Its next to the local bars and diner. I have heard of families renting the inn out for weddings. You do not have a lot of options in Onida so having a place that is clean and safe is very nice. The rooms all have microwaves and refrigerators. If you are a colder person and like warm rooms, request to stay upstairs. If you can't sleep in the heat, request a room downstairs. I go here every year and will continue to stay here. I could find a chain in Pierre but this is much nicer and you support the local businesses.

The location is hard to beat, sitting right along the Missouri River. I've eaten both inside and outside and had a great experience either way. The patio is wonderful on a nice day, but the huge windows inside still give you a beautiful view of the river if you'd rather be indoors. There's always something new to try, seems like they try to change up the menu/refresh the options oftThey also have a great drink selection, and I've had a lot of fun splitting some of their fishbowl drinks with friends on past visits. Another thing I love about the location is the trail running right along the river, which connects to hotels nearby and makes Drifters an easy walk if you're staying in the area. The Fort Pierre National Grassland is located in the center of South Dakota, north of I-90 and is a…read moremassive 116,000 acre national park. I think it's the largest park I have ever reviewed. The address for this "business" is for the Park Ranger district office in Fort Pierre, where you can pick up a map (a must) and get some general information about the parkland. Its shrubby hillsides are home to whitetail and mule deer, while the hundreds of earthen dams provide lush habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, and fish. Given the right amount of precipitation and sunlight, the spring and summer months of the central South Dakota prairie come alive with wildflowers of different shapes, colors, and sizes. As the spring progresses into summer, native grasses create just as stunning a display as the flowers. I had the opportunity to view the grassland from US-83 between Vivian and Pierre. It's 35 miles and it's just so amazingly peaceful. I pulled off the road a couple of times just to stop and listen to ... nothing. Just the sounds of the wind in the grass and the quiet ticking of a cooling engine. I'm not a camper or a boondocker - I need Internet for work - but I can definitely understand people who will take a tent and a backpack and a full bottle of bug spray and just hike into nowhere.
