I recently stayed at a rental property in The Lodges managed by Eagles Nest at Banner Elk, NC. The community grounds were excellent and well-maintained, particularly in a snowy weekend.
I visited the Great Camp. The Cigar and Wine Bar was closed for renovation which was disappointing. The Barbeque Pavilion had s'mores in the fridge. I played with the archery a bit.
I'd like to come back in the summer where I think I could get a lot more out of these properties at Eagles Nest. (There were no events in the winter, and many amenities were closed.)
The rental property we stayed at was a nice homesite, but I was disappointed in the management company's minimalistic stocking of the home. For example, the home, which sleeps 10, had only 10 bath towels. It had 3 hot tub towels for a large hot tub. I was prepared to bring my own trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing liquid, etc., but I was not advised to bring my own towels. The home was also lacking in enough pots, pans, utensils, etc. to actually feed 10 people. read more
