Prices are very reasonable with large portions makes this small town bar and grill our usual when we want to avoid the crowds in Mankato.

Good food, atmosphere, and super accommodating staff. You can't beat their prices either.

Hungry in the Hawkeye State [St Ansgar IA]…read more After taking the self-guided tour at the SPAM Museum in Austin MN we decided to skip having lunch around the area and drove over the state line to Iowa and had lunch at this unassuming place called City Limits Bar & Grill. It was 21 miles from the Spam Museum to the restaurant. We arrived around 2:45p and the restaurant was surprisingly busy, the crowd was loud, various sports were showing on the flatscreens, everyone just having a great time. The waitress was busy but she single-handedly handled the crowd and the bar pretty well. On the way here we passed by seemingly countless rows of corn and wheat. When the waitress came to our table to get our orders we asked her what is a popular food Iowans like to eat. She pointed on the menu at the Old Fashioned Fritter sandwich. It is a center-cut pork loin, pounded and either grilled or dipped in their signature batter then fried. I ordered a 16-oz Bone-in French cut Ribeye. She said there are more cattle than people and the most pork LoL! They are also known for their steak. She wasn't lying... both the Iowa-style breaded pork fritter sandwich and the steak were delicious. It was just funny seeing the humungous pork tenderloin in between the bread and made the buns look tiny. The beef is so tender, juicy and flavorful. Looks like a popular place with the locals and visitors too with its warm, inviting ambiance and friendly staff. Review #3844

The Big Mike's hamburger is huge. Never have I seen my husband not to be able to eat all his food, that is how huge portions you get. 5+ stars!
