Unfortunately, our experience with this school has been extremely disappointing. The biggest issue…read morehas been the lack of communication and accountability from administration. There have been repeated concerns regarding bullying, including obvious signs that have been reported by parents multiple times, yet there has been little to no meaningful action or communication about what is being done to address it. Parents should not have to repeatedly advocate for their children's safety or physically go into the school just to get a response. The Assistant Director has been particularly difficult to communicate with. There is very little proactive communication with parents, and it often feels like families are left to chase down answers rather than the administration taking responsibility for keeping parents informed. There are also concerns with the overall culture and professionalism. Some teachers seem more focused on being their students' friends than maintaining the structure, boundaries, and authority that children need from their teachers. Having a positive relationship with students is important, but being liked should never come before being a responsible educator. Another major concern is the quality of the food being served. We have seen or been made aware of food being served to children that was moldy or not completely cooked. This is not something that should ever be considered acceptable in a school setting. Families are expected to pay significant amounts, yet basic standards regarding the food children are being served do not always seem to be met. There are also concerns surrounding lunchroom practices. An aide, Tessa, has been observed rushing children out of the lunchroom before their allotted lunch time is over. The impression given is that this is being done so the lunch staff can be sent home earlier and the school can avoid paying additional hours. If that is in fact the reason, it is extremely concerning. Children should not have their time to eat shortened because of staffing costs or budget decisions. We chose this school because we trusted that our children would be safe, properly supervised, respected, and cared for. Unfortunately, our experience has left us questioning AGAIN whether those priorities are truly being upheld. There are some good people who care about the children, but the ongoing administrative and operational issues are too significant to ignore.

Letting her feel comfortable in class and learning at the same time. She was able to blossom and grow, participating in the musicals and and other activities allowing her to express herself in a safe environment. I was super sad once I had to move towns and unfortunately couldn't keep on bringing my baby cause it did feel like an extra family, the teachers were so loving and that is something as a mom you really look for in the people with whom your child is gonna spend most of his time besides yourself. One of the nicest things was getting to see the crafts my baby would do very often at daycare, pictures they would print and decorate or do something nice for holidays and other special days. My girls LOVE the teachers there and I personally love the staff. They are very selective in who they hire, which alone says alot. Angie, Ashley, & Amanda always update me on anything that goes on while my girls are in their care. They are Ginuwine, honest and caring and it shows. I'm VERY picky when it comes to who watches my babies and these ladies make me feel really comfortable which is a MUST! They go by the book and then some. I love how organized and clean they are, & the communication is suburb. I do "Pop ups" and randomly sneak in to see how things are going in the classroom when the parents are "unexpected" and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. I go by people's vibes and I can tell if someone is Ginuwine or not. These women are very Ginuwine and honest. If an incident occurred with your child, they let you know exactly what happened, how it happened, What time it happened and what they did to comfort your child. The staff is very well trained and definitely hand picked. The owner and managers all have kids and they all go there which is a really good sign. The staff have been there for years, they have well balanced meals, excellent learning activities, and well put together daily schedules. Courtney has been there for 20 years and she is the sweetest lady ever, Jaime knows everything about every child and gives these kids a lot of one on one attention. Summer is a gorgeous young lady that was born to care for young kids, she's super mature. Hailey has patience like no one I know, I witnessed it first hand at the kids Christmas performance (which was amazing btw). Jasmine is such a sweetheart, her and my daughter share a special bond, its adorable. Lora was my daughters previous teacher and she LOVES her, she calls her "Flora" so now I call her flora whenever I see her. I will never leave this place nor will I ever find a daycare that will care for my babies the way this daycare does. 1 million golden stars to the owner and Managers that make this daycare the way it is, I wouldn't change a thing about it. Truly enjoyed my experience here. I felt a tangible 'ghost' of the games hovering over (and…read morethroughout) the venue. That said, the place is a bit run down, but compared to other countries' olympic 'graveyards', it's like the Garden of Eden. I spoke with a lady, who apparently books events at the venue, who told me they hold a dirty dash there when it gets warm, and all the winter sports events during the cold months. I'm going to make it a point to head up during the winter and check out the cross-country skiing events as well as the biathlon if they have it this year.

Why we choose American Heritage…read more To be completely honest it was for the all day Kindergarten. For a working mom, having all day Kindergarten was a lifesaver. My youngest started school, and a week later my 4th grader asked if she could go to AHSJ as well. A little background on D'Layne (4th grade when she started AHSJ), she had a heart condition. She had always gone to public school, but was falling in the cracks and falling behind. D'layne excelled at AHSJ in ways that I cannot explain. She loved math, science and history, but always struggled in spelling and reading. After her 4th grade year, she was excelling in ways that made me proud to watch her grow. It was the same with 5th grade, but towards the end of 5th grade her health started to change. The summer between her 5th and 6th grade years, D'layne had a major stroke. She spent the summer relearning to read, write, and to find her words. We also knew at that time that her heart was failing her, and she would have to be placed on the transplant list immediately. She spent the summer back and forth getting testing done and was placed on the transplant list on August 27th, 2018. 6 days after starting her 6th grade year... The day we got the call that D'Layne was getting her new heart, she was at school. That was the best place for her to be, the administration gave her hugs and kisses, the school stopped and prayed for my daughter. This is a family, not just a school. 6 days after her transplant, I had to make a call to her school, that she was not going to make it. Where her heart was perfect, her body had been shutting down. Our family, AHSJ, cried with us, cherished us, and supported us. It has not stopped. My angel was granted her Angel wings on September 26, 2018. On May 2, 2019 (7 months later) they performed the most amazing tribute to her at their dance performance and included my sweet 7 year old to honor her sister. So, all day Kindergarten brought us to AHSJ, but the family bond of every student, teacher, administrator is the reason we stay!!

My almost 5 years old son started at this place on August 11th and today, August 22th, after only…read more10 days of him attending the Childrens Cortyard at Bluffdale, they called us and unilateraly desenrolled my son saying that he was a runner and was leaving his classroom and even leaving the building and for that reason, they said they were not a good fit for him. They did not even give him enough time to adjust there, they did not work with us, the parents, to adress the behavior, they did not implement a behavior plan for at least a couple of weeks, they just blamed my child and kicked him out. We did not even had the chance to talk to his teachers and have a proper meeting. My son was able to report that they were putting him with the babies just because he did not want to nap. He also said the teachers were not nice to him. Their assistant director, that usualy stays at the front desk is very rude and threatened us that we would have to leave our jobs to come and get our son because they were not able to guide him through his normal little kid's challenges. My son has attended daycare since he was a year old and we never had a report about him running. We chose to enroll him there because it is very close to my job, but now I would rather have him in a place farther than somewhere he is not going to be treated as a little boy that just needs guidance. They want the money, but not to deal with what taking care of kids requires.
