Broken banister railings. Grass up to mid-calf. No guest internet connection. (Could connect to the hotel WiFi, but it was not connected to the internet) Basic Cable channels "not available" - even those that are broadcast/over-the-air (eg. H and I TV is broadcast out of Wausau and is on Spectrum 152). Soda machine out of water. Loudest air conditioner ever. read more

I was astonished to read the negative reviews. We booked our weekend several weeks ago, and when we got here, were handed the keys and told where the best place to park was. Valentine's weekend showed lots of snowmobiles around so we were concerned that it would be a rowdy crowd. I could not believe how quiet and polite everyone was. Most hotels are loud at night with doors closing and people talking- not here! It was like we were the only 2 people in the building- and it was a full house. Unfortunately, the hot tub was drained and off limits due to Covid-19, but the pool was open. We would definitely stay here again. My only concern is there were very few people wearing masks, from the employees to the people coming in off of the street to dine in. For that reason, and also, when we walked through the lobby this afternoon, it smelled like someone was smoking in the lobby. Not cool! read more

This place is rediculous. We had a dozen bugs in one of the beds which I killed as many as I could find. The night clerk also saw them crawling around and that's just room 110. I have pictures. They would not give me my money back and said the manager was not available then or the next day so offered me room 103 which I had to accept because it was late at night and three other places I had called were all full. In room 103 the bathroom door wouldn't even close. There was cobwebs and dirt on the floor behind the bed: obvious it hadn't been vacuumed for some time. I have pictures of this too. The tried the hot tub and it was ok, but the pool appeared to have mold in it. The on-duty person (Nick) scraped his finger on it and immediately said "I have to go wash my hands". The best thing about it was the pool. I scheduled for a jacuzzi room by the water front two weeks ago. Here I am in a smaller room and they charged me the same amount no jacuzzi and no water front. The lady said she'd give me a discount so we'll see. I asked if she had a different room and she told me no. The room was clean enough but the bathroom floor was dirty I wore shoes. Also the siding on the bottom wall and floor is a gap like 2 inches. I would not stay here again read more

Bartender yelled "YOU SONS OF BITCHES GO". My family and I come from working in the service industry and we are very patient people but I can not believe or accept what happened tonight. We had reservations and sat at our table for 2 hrs. One thing after another. They ran out of salad and soup. Gave us one bowl of soup and said she could bring out spoons for us to all share it. After two hours of waiting we decided for the first time in our lives we would leave. We left money to cover anything we had (a drink and the single soup). The bartender chased us down and wrote down our license plate. And was yelling and didn't care about our experience. After everything we offered to stay and pay a reduced amount. I have never been to a hotel that did not have luggage carts for guests until we checked in here. Hubby asked where they were and she said they didn't have any. WIERD! Musty smelling room but otherwise clean and the beds were not too bad. What gets me is that there is no one at the front desk from 10 pm until 7 am. WIERD! Never heard of that before. We were close to the pool which was actually warm water which I enjoyed. The hot tub is dangerous territory though. You have to climb up 2 large wet porcelain tiled steps without benefit of railing to get up to the stairs leading down to the water. WIERD! We had problems with the ice machine, we were told it's finicky. We ended up having to go to a gas station to buy ice. WIERD! Lastly it seemed the newest game in the game room was Lethal Weapon circa 1980! WIERDER!!! We tried to get rooms at other places but being a tourist trap the inns were full. The inn is in a fun location. That's the most positive thing I can say about this resort. The owner is rude and pompous. I have never encountered a staff at any resort that are as flippant as the staff here. I am assuming they learned that from the owner because most people who live in the north are actually decent and kind human beings. The air is musty in the building and the exterior needs to be washed or something. There is a restaurant attached but there was a long wait. We tried to wait it out in the bar but the bartenders there were pretty obnoxious so we left. read more

This was the WORST experience I've ever had dining out. I have worked as a server in many 4 and 5 star restaurants for years in the Milwaukee area and I've never witnessed what I did today. The place was very understaffed with only 3 servers. We had a reservation for 7 PM and didn't sit until 7:15 and didn't see our server until 7:30. I don't blame the waitress as she was stressed I get it. We ordered around 7:45 and we watched the tables around us order after us and get their salads and food way before we even HAD to ask about our salads. Then the server came back to say they are all out of lettuce and salads around 8:20. So we asked about soup and there was only one bowl left for the only person who ordered soup at our table. The server asked if we wanted spoons to share that persons soup. Minutes later corn soup was offered to the rest of us but none of us wanted that as we were just frustrated. The table across from us that sat about 15 minutes after us got their salads and soup and food before 8:30. We were told at 8:40 that the food was 7 minutes away. I only ordered vegetables and rice... We decided to leave money for the bread and tea and only bowl of soup we got and leave. Then the bartender chased after us and started taking down our license plate. We got out of the car and asked what the issue was and the bartender said they were understaffed and their other 3 restaurants ran out of food this weekend. Then he said that someone told us as we walked out that the food was ready and proceeded to lie and say one of us had said ok. We refused to pay full price for salads we never got and food we weren't going to get for a while yet. Then he said he'd go ask the chef. The bartender came back out and said "YOU SONS OF B*TCHES GO THEN". That was by far the worst management, customer service, and restaurant experience in general I've ever had. Chose this place last-minute based on their website, which makes it look pretty darn nice. Needed a room with a kitchenette and wanted a pool and some child-friendly amenities. Should've snagged a cabin for the $150. Unfortunately we prepaid. When we drove up, there was a very anemic-looking miniature golf course, and almost no cars parked in front of the huge hotel. We had already given her our credit card and she was so nice, so we just let the current pull us in. Speaking of current, the place is on a wide part of the river and has a good view, but somehow still seems depressing. The grounds have dry grass. Upon arrival, we were sent to a musty-smelling room (smelled like it hadn't been aired-out in months, and this is right at the tail end of the busy season....) without a kitchenette. The woman switched us out right away, into a room right next to it (after she had us lug our suitcases back down the stairs.) The new room smelled like smoke despite the no-smoking signs on every door, and hadn't been cleaned. There was a huge box of empty Coors beer in the corner and dirty dishes in the sink. Just happened the cleaning lady was about to clean it so we let her barrel through. For some reason, I was wondering if maybe she was the one who had the party, as she seemed to know the made bed had been slept in, and the sofa bed had no sheets. I would have left if my companion weren't so humanistic. I think he felt kind of bad for them and their embarrassing establishment, but that's not a reason to waste your money on a lousy place. We came back to our room later and the beer box was now outside the room. We took a swim. The pool was cloudy with chlorine and the hot tub felt like a toxic vapor bath of stagnant, almost stinky water. The only other patrons we saw were some elderly who looked like they'd been placed there accidentally through some tour package. They looked ready to stroll around and have a good time, but were about to figure out that their hotel was no destination. May have been 10 or 20 years ago...actually maybe these patrons had been there in its heyday. At 11pm the people across the parking lot started having a party and blasting music, but the front desk had shut down at 10 so we couldn't call their attention to it. Finally I got through to the after hours line, and it did quiet down after that. I couldn't get a good nights sleep though because the heavily-deodorized room had a stagnant feeling that left me feeling claustrophobic. Also had cheap bed sheets that slide off bc the elastic is stretched so the mattress kept coming bare. You can do better out there. read more

We stayed 4 days / 3 nights here. Had a great time and the missing luggage carts were not an issue. There were very few guests staying at the same time as us so maybe we got special attention but the staff was excellent!! The restaurant was really good too. read more

I dont know where to begin. Attended a Whitetails Unlimited banquet 10/27/18 and there wasnt much that was good about the establishment. First....no booze really at the bar. What was there was way overpriced. There was a guy that ordered 2 Grey Goose martinis....well the glass was filled with fruit flies. Bartender dumped it out. Rinsed glass and repoured them only to have more flies!! Then tried to pay for drinks and we were told, " we can only take 5'svand singles because we have no change" there were singles in the tip jar, but they would not take a 20$ bill!! So for dinner, there is nobody watching the food. Food was served buffet style, with a big event you should have somebody on that! Over 1/2 of people had to wait an extra 20 minutes for any food. It was not that good either. The tables ... well ours had alot no pepper, no water. Asked for water and was told yep we will get that right away. Well clearing plates was more important. So after asking a second time only had to wait until 15 minutes after eating to get a glass of water. The plates were dirty. I personally unstacked 2 ....one had gum dried on it and the other, food from whatever dinner was on it before. The rolls just came out of the fridge so they were pretty chilly. The dessert was brownies...really? How do you screw up brownies....well they did. The bathrooms were filthy and not stocked, toilet was plugged....utterly ridiculous. You would think if you were having a large event you would clean and prepare for it. The staff....well one girl looked like trash with her shirt falling off of her. The entire experience was appalling. Will never go back.....additionally besides not having any booze without flies in it they were out of beer before 9pm!! WTF!! Terrible place to stay. When booking, was not told they close early at 8 pm. Thankfully, pulled in at 8, the employee was outside leaving already..said cam I help you, I said we are checking in..oh..we closed at 8, no mention of this when booking, nor on the email confirmation I requested. She handed us keys, yes, keys. Entrances were littered with a bunch of cigarettes on ground, dirty. No elevators and said only 2nd floor rooms available. Only 4 cars there, asked her, she said..its booked, they just arent here yet... in early morning, same amount of cars, no unsure on why 1st floor was not available. Smelled inside of many things, and partially covered with even worse cleaner possibly. Dragged our stuff up the stairs. Beds were terrible, worst I have ever cone across. Sheets even worse..very rough. Bedspread had very noticeable stain. Toilet is super low to floor??! Paid for patio door lakeside with balcony. Patio door filth. Paid for a balcony/patio door room ..Wanted to sit outside for sunset, but NO separation privacy fence, people out there right on top of us..didnt feel like.sitting next to.strangers and listening to their conversation..not up to social distancing standards for sure. You cannot keep your curtains open at night or in morning for light as anyone can walk all along the decking and see right in. No bfast tonspeak if due to covid, pool closed early too and said 10 pm on email confirmation..they didnt bother to change their wording on email, but in looking at it, would not have gone in anyway. The place is bad and it take alot to be wrong for me to write a review. Dont let the pics fool you. Told the manager in the morning. No apologies. Would never return. read more

Where do I start? Took a large group of 25 people here recently for brunch at $28+ per person. I guess we should have known it would not be a great experience when we had to side step dog doo-doo near the outside entrance to the kitchen. (!) Within just minutes it was apparent the restaurant was understaffed. Took far too long for the 1 bartender to serve us a drink. Beer choices were limited. What was most disappointing, though was the actual buffet brunch - again, limited choices and what was served was not good. Buffet included coffee but no juice choices for the children!! (What child drinks coffee?) The scrambled eggs were cold...the breads were cold and hard. The dessert table was a disastrous mess - (presentation matters)! Condiments were not readily available and we had to request these twice. Wait staff seemed too limited as well. We were hoping for a family celebration with good food. Instead, we couldn't wait to leave and felt ripped off at $28 per person. read more
