If you have to do anything more complicated than buying stamps go elsewhere.
I came here because; unlike Melear Post Office, it's near my home & easy to get too. But I've learned that it's worth the hassle to go to the Post Office because at least they know what they're doing there.
I have a bunch of things I'm currently trying to ship over to my friend in The Netherlands as cheaply as possible. I've been doing my research on weight categories and different shipping methods so when I took the first package in to send I expected it to cost between $30-$50 assuming it didn't exceed 4lbs.
The woman behind the counter weighed the package & told me $90 would be the cheapest shipping option. This was way more than any of my research had led me to expect. Since it did weigh over 4lbs I asked if it would be worth removing some things since packages over 4lbs go into a different weight classification.
The woman had no idea what I was talking about. Obviously, I did not get my package mailed.
I then went to the Melear Post Office to see if they could help me. Although it was quite a bit more crowded when they weighed the package they said it could be shipped for $60. Or $30 if I took some things out & got the package weight down to 3lbs.
$60 to ship a package at the post office, $90 to ship the exact same package from Eagle Postal Center.
And $90 would not guarantee it arrived to its destination because the post office informed me it needed a different customs form because of the weight exceeding 4lbs.
The people at Eagle Postal Center made no mention of this. Or any type of customs form which was clearly needed because the package was being shipped internationally.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where the people shipping your packages at least have some knowledge about what they're doing!! read more
