I was told they were booked until the 16th of October and could be put on a cancellation list. I said fine I'll take it. Something came up and I was going to be going out of town on the 16th so I called and they said they could move my appointment up to the 13th. I said that was great (thinking wow I guess that appointment JUST opened up). Well I ended up getting sick and wasn't going to be going out of town let alone making my doctors appointment. I called the morning of my appointment before they opened and left a message to reschedule. They didn't call me back that day. They didn't call Monday. I called them Tuesday to reschedule and I was told they could get me in on the 27th of December. I said excuse me? I'm sorry I didn't make it in. I could have come in but I really didn't want to get anybody sick so you're telling me I can't get in for another 2 months because I chose to be responsible. She then told me I could be put on the cancellation list again. I said it didn't do a damn bit of food the first time. So they would expect me to wait 5 months for an appointment. I was an office manager for a mental health therapist, I would NEVER do that to a patient. I would get them in asap, especially since they would have already had waited months to get in. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

There are only two ways to do things at Dr. Hemmig's office. His way or the highway. He spends his entire exam time telling the patient what they want rather than shutting his mouth and listening to what the patient is telling him. Confuses professionalism with rudeness. His wife runs the eyeglass portion of the business and is a perfect match for the good doctors way of conducting business. She will TELL you what you want. She will also attempt to sell you the most expensive eyewear and add-ons available. Extremely pushy with a know-it-all attitude. I personally waited for over a month to receive sunglasses, that I was assured were in the process of being made, only to eventually receive a refund and no sunglasses. Clearly Mrs. Hemmig was lying to me the entire time. To make matters worse, they misspelled my name on the refund check. Along with the refund check was a letter telling me that "due to a customer/doctor relationship breakdown" they no longer would be providing eye care to me. This simply because I refused to allow them to tell me what I wanted rather than accepting that "the customer is ALWAYS right". The shear audacity of their condescending attitudes was more than I could take. I had already determined that I would NEVER go there again long before I received their pathetic letter. I would strongly recommend finding another optometrist. You will regret going to this one.

The staff was friendly and kind. The doctor seemed to know the problem right away and pulled out an eyelash that was growing backwards and poking my eye. What a relief. They saved my vacation. In June of 2024, he suggested I have cataract surgery for both of my eyes. His assistant explained the three different cataract procedures, and she answered all my questions. She helped me to decide which lenses to get. She was super nice and personable. Actually, the whole staff knew how to treat a patient. I never felt rushed. I felt like I was the only patient that day. Dr Ruttig, in my opinion, is a very nice and knowledgeable doctor. I had each eye done on different days so the first eye could heal. After the second surgery, I wasn't happy with how my eye was healing. I explained how I was seeing. I waited 2 weeks to see if everything was going ok, but when I went for my appointment, he told me he and his assistant thought maybe a different lens would work better, so they scheduled another surgery. I also had issues with my bill from the hospital. I totally misunderstood the cost of the lenses and surgery. Hoda listened to my issues and said she would do some research. Hoda got back to me quickly and Dr. Ruttig refunded me a little under $3,000 to cover the costs of the hospital. I was so shocked. The office is amazing and so is Dr. Ruttig. Everyone is so professional, helpful and nice. I would highly recommend Eye M.D. of Niceville to anyone.

Let me preface this with the fact I walked into Dr. Chases office with a mouthful of old, civil-war…read moreera "VA Dental" work, which left this veteran never wanting to smile due to the poor work done via the VA. It was pretty bad. I'm talking I had a Llyod Christmas of Dumb and Dumber smile. Dr. Chase listened to all my concerns and my issues and set up a plan to address and fix all of them. Doctors are artists of their concentrations. Those practices come with a continuous effort to stay current and proficient in the latest procedures and techniques, hence why their career is called a practice. Dr. Chase is an amazing artist in the field of dentistry. Couple that, with her cordial and pleasant office staff and dental techs...my visits have been nothing short of enjoyable and not the usual dreaded Marquis de Sade-esque visit one normally endures... Dr. Chase has restored my smile and my confidence in now smiling at others. My only complaint would be the fact she would talk with her tech about great subjects (crime documentaries, home improvements and her bad stock picks) while working on my teeth...and me not being able to join the interesting conversation due to all the fingers and tools stuffed I'm my gullet. I digress. Midbay dental is one of the best dental offices I've ever visited. Highly recommended. Thank you so much Midbay Dental. TJ

They…read moretold me that the best solution is to fill it with silver diamine fluoride and that it would stop the decay and is a no pain solution for kids. I wish I would have researched this better but I went along and trusted that they knew best. Now, mid March of 2020, my child has pain in that same molar. I take her to an emergency dentist (on COVID-19 isolation and went to the closest and best rated dentist that was avail). The cavity WAS NOT stopped and in fact became so bad that it decayed her entire tooth to the point that it might have to be pulled out! $500 later and a TON of pain- her tooth nerve was removed. A crown was put in place but there is only a 50% chance the nerve will heal. If it doesn't heal, it will have to be pulled. This tooth will not grow back in until she is 12 years old. Not only has my sweet girl had to go through all this unnecessary tooth pain but it was something that could have been taken care of from the beginning with a simple filling! This makes me furious, why wouldn't a dentist properly explain the consequences and long term?! I am not a dentist and one should be able to trust that their health care provider is doing the right thing! I will NEVER go here again, I would not advise trusting this practice with your kids teeth. They obviously cut corners!
